  1. The original line up of Be Bop deluxe was Bill Nelson on lead guitar and vocals, Ian Parkin: rhythm and acoustic guitar, Ian died in 1995, aged 45. Robert Bryan: bass and backing vocals and Nicholas Chatterton-Dew on drums and percussion. Saw them at the Swan in 74. Line up number 2 was Bill again, Simon Fox, drums and percussion, Charlie Tumahai bass and backing vocals, Charlie died 21 December 1995 from cancer I believe back in New Zealand and Andrew Clark, keyboards. Saw them at the City Hall when they all came out of big plastic tubes full of smoke. Bill also set fire to his guitar and waved over the heads of the front row of the audience, try that today with Elf & Safety.
  2. Saw Chris with Eric Clapton 2007 at the Sheffield Arena, still going strong.
  3. Does anybody know the rest of the rhyme containing these lines usually used when first footin' on New Years Eve/Day Happy New Year Happy New Year A horse and a gig and a good fat pig to serve us all next year Hole in my pocket Hole in my shoe Please can you spare me a penny or two If you haven't got a penny An 'apenny will do If you haven't got an 'apenny, then God bless you I think there was a line in there about a pocket foll of money and a cellar full of beer???
  4. Greetings to you smiler4689, I posted a question on another thread regarding your dad, what happened to him, I bumped into a comedian in a hotel in Leicestershire earlier this year, a small round man with curly hair who'd been in a band 'Frankenstiens Monsters' I think and I'm sure he told me your dad had moved away to the coast or maybe abroad. I have fond memories of the Mucky Duck and your dad from the early seventies, if he's still around tell him an old customer sends his regards
  5. I went in there from about the end of 1973 onward until about 1980, Tom was still there when I started going in, some of the other regulars were Tommo, Black Bob, Big Bob. My sister Pauline and her husband Steve and several young ladies who's names I can't remember including one who worked at Lewis Leathers round the corner. And I remember Chris Royles.
  6. Did you do the full run from the top of the park between the two big trees between the substation on the right and the trees on the left and then finish up in the hedge down by the toilets, if you were lucky.
  7. Another one not a real cafe, does anyone remember the tea van that used to park on Mowbray st near the junction with Corporation st, I think it was the Desert Rat van that also used to park up on the Surprise ona a Sunday afternoon. Hot pies and warm tea at two in the morning...
  8. Was the Attic the one with the Joe Scarborough paintings on the walls in the early seventies???
  9. What happened to Terry Steeples former landlord at the Mucky Duck, last I heard I think he moved out to the East coast
  10. I started going to the Yorkshire Bridge ona Friday night in 69 with three mates in an old Moggy 1000, then race back to Two Steps chippy at Hunters Bar. Then we discovered the Grapes on Trippet lane upstairs a couple of guys rana disco playing Grateful Dead and the like.
  11. Okay so I'll scrap starting a thread about the Bucc... it's nice to be amongst friends. My own most endearing memory was standing by the speakers by the DJ booth when Highway Star came on and nearly took my ear drums out. There was a corner round to the right when you went in where it was rumoured that you could buy herbal cigarettes and tablets to help keep you awake... hmmmm.
  12. I was at the gig, sat on the first balcony to the right hand side of the stage and could see down behind the curtain.
  13. Zep appeared at the students Union in 70 or 71 and was a sellout, we couldn't get in but could see Jimmy Page and Robert Plant through a gap in the curtains from the bridge at the side of the Union building...
  14. This gig also infamous because Bonzo had a second drummer sat behand a curtain at the back of the stage, playing bongos etc. Still a great gig though...
