  1. I was there yesterday and the projector wasn't HD, it looked alright, but it was a Sanyo Pro Xtra X which, while it accepts HD signals, has a max resolution of 1024x768. - Not HD.
  2. I've had one or two problems with Flash videos in Firefox 3, a bit annoying but nothing like the trouble I had with Firefox 2.
  3. Hi, 40 inches is a bit small for a plasma, you'd have to go for an LCD. It's a good size, not too imposing but not too small. I bought a Sony KDL40V3000 earlier this year (http://www.stockchecker.co.uk/PriceComparer.aspx?productId=33849) and I'm really happy with it (even if it was a fair bit more expensive back then!) video games look great on it, as does HD video, DVDs and Freeview (how these TVs handle the low grade Freeview images is a good test of their quality). Also have a look at the Sony KDL40D3500 which is one my parents bought and is pretty much identical to mine but a little cheaper (http://www.stockchecker.co.uk/PriceComparer.aspx?productId=40414) ...or you could take a look at Sony's replacement for these models which came out about a month ago, the Sony KDL40W4000 (http://www.stockchecker.co.uk/PriceComparer.aspx?productId=52793) and is very popular at the moment. By and large, most LCDs do an outstanding job with video games consoles, in the case of the Wii, it's maximum image quality is way below what these TVs are capable of, so they don't struggle. The best way to get a good picture from your Wii is to buy a Component cable for connecting it to the TV - I used the Game own-brand one which is fine (http://www.game.co.uk/Wii/Hardware/Accessory/~r329915/GAMEware-Nintendo-Wii-Component-Cable/) - assuming the TV you buy has a Component input. This allows you to increase the image quality to maximum on your Wii's settings. Most importantly - buy online! Have a look at them running in the shops if you have to but always buy online, the difference in price is ridiculous. - Andrew. P.S. In the interests of full disclosure, I do work for the company that runs Stockchecker.co.uk (I programmed the site myself ) - hence all the links there - but this advice all comes from personal experience. Besides, it is an excellent site and we are a small local company!
  4. What do you think then? Shall we go ahead with this meet tonight?
  5. Hmm yes, lets see what the state of things is on Thursday daytime and make a call as to whether we'll go ahead or not. On the plus side, Ridish messaged me on Facebook saying "Probably see you there then."
  6. I doubt he'll be able to, Thursday evenings are 'All East German Hardcore Techno - All night!!'
  7. Really? I'd say C#, Ruby or possibly even Python are the up and coming languages these days. I learned Java at uni but it's not a patch on the more recent web development languages. Have a look at the Programming Languages chart on here: http://www.itjobswatch.co.uk/jobs/sheffield/programmer.do
  8. I too learned C and pascal back in the day, while I agree they offer good grounding and insight into the (slightly) lower level workings of modern programming languages (being function-based and faffing about with pointers and things) I'd say, short of nostalgia, there's little benefit in learning them again. Personally, keeping up with the new developments in C# alone keep me busy enough!
  9. Oh I completely understand, I didn't mean to stand on anyones toes, I just thought that given that it's only two days away I'd post a few messages and try and get some more interest in the idea. If nothing comes of it we can still rescedule, there's no harm done. (Plus, I accept, I do sound a little over enthused when I've got my promotional hat on)

  12. Ah yes, the identification problem, shall I make a sign to hold up or something, or we could all wear a certain colour item?
  13. I do agree that we'll need to be going to a showing between 6 and 7. XXY and Yasmin both sound good. I especially like what I've heard about Yasmin.
