  1. Thanks for the replies guys. I know it's unlikley that they'll make a snap decision over the phone, and as you've said they've probably decided before as they get our grades earlier. It's just if it ever did happen I want to make sure I have something good to say as I have no insurance choice!
  2. ...and anyone else who can offer some advice. A-level results are coming out next week (!) and I need AAB to get into Uni of Sheffield. I've known people to get really bad grades and still manage to talk their way into their chosen Uni. So I was wondering.. if this does happen to me.. does anyone have any tips on how I could "blag" a place at Sheffield? Or even better, if you've had this experience, what did you say to persuade the admissions tutors?
  3. I've only visited the Uni twice.. but compared to all the others I've seen it's not "scabby" at all- hence why I've chosen to study there this year. Here are some of the factors that helped me make my decision (I hope they help you too): Great night life (the best in the country according to Virgin) Friendly people The fact that it's a safe city The "countryside in a city" feel A good range of courses, some of which you can't find anywhere else Great facilities- particularly for sport Accents (nicer than in the south imo) Pulp- legends ...ok maybe the last two aren't that important but you should definatley go and visit before ruling it out.
  4. Oh no!.. lol- where am I going to live? So when exactley are these changes occuring??
  5. .. I'm sure I'll become well acquainted with this service when I move to Sheffield. £1.50!? Why so low?
  6. ..well to cheer you guys up I read that Sheffield is the "safest city" in the UK, so I guess these things don't happen too often?
  7. I'm glad the Tories haven't got a look in yet!!... not so in the South unfortunatley
  8. lol.. well I personally got none of that- except for the "while 8" bit..
  9. Yeah but a lot of TV and radio ads are begining to use people to do voice-overs who have northern accents. Apparently people trust it more
  10. How long do you think it would take to pick up a Sheffield accent? Something I've noticed.. you guys seem more conscious of your accent than people in the South- who generally tend to think they don't have an accent but everyone else does. That's not a bad thing.. just an observation
  11. Awww.. thanks Max (see, I'm feeling the friendly vibes already lol)
  12. I can't wait to move out of London and into Sheffield.. it has a more friendly feel to it (and I love your accents)
