  1. Hi, I am in S5 and our broadband is down too. Checked on website and it states there is a known problem their engineers are working in, and should be fixed by 22:00. Apparently effecting TV and broadband services.
  2. They are all very good - I'd happily have one hanging on my wall.
  3. Hi, We recently purchased tiles for our bathroom. We looked at the Yorkshire Tile Company based in Sheffield. Seemed to have some good prices and offer discount codes on their web site as well as clearance tiles & ex display bathroom items. We ended up getting basic white gloss tiles from Topps Tiles (mainly due to laziness as the Topps was closer to home) which will have a mosaic insert.
  4. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has had a single storey rear extension erected recently and if so what was the approximate cost? I am considering having a full width (19ft) x 3m basic extension added on to the rear of our house which would fall with permitted development rules. I previously had a quote of £15,000 for an orangery / conservatory of the same size but was wondering if a full extension would be approx the same cost? Many thanks
  5. Just for info, I considered doing this last year. Our double length garage is separated from the house by approx 4ft at the rear (where we would have joined it to the kitchen) and 15ft at the front, as set on an angle. We were going to join it to kitchen at the rear and convert it into a snug or utility room. I was informed by Sheffield planning department that it would need planning permission as it would be attached to the house and in effect was classed as an extension. We didn't follow it up any further as this meant factoring in extra cost for plans to be drawn up, planning permission application etc, but we are going to contact them again to see if we use just a covered walkway (semi open & roofed but enough to protect us from the rain / snow etc) walkway if this would be classed the same.
  6. I am very confused, since when is trying to look after you child's hair classed in the same category as booking them plastic surgery or exposing them to the dangers of sun beds? I assume most people use some form of conditioner on their hair, coconut oil is simply a natural conditioner with the benefits of detangling / curl defining.
  7. I have very curly frizzy hair and use coconut oil from super drug. It's very cheap (£1 ish) and comes in solid form. You simply wash and condition hair as normal and then rub some of the oil between your hands to melt it and then rub into hair whilst its still wet. Let hair dry naturally and it keeps the curls neater and stops them fizzing.
  8. Hi, I've been down to B&Q today ( next to Morrisons), the traffic queues are being caused by the left hand lane on Penistone being closed off for road works. The traffic coming down the main road & the traffic coming out and turning left from Morrisons etc are all having to merge into one lane. It's closed between these traffic light and along infront of B&Q.
  9. Hi, I was wondering if somebody would be offer me some advice regarding a single story rear extension we are considering. Basically it would project for the house 3m and be the width of the house (we live in a end town house) - so I believe would fall within the permitted development allowance. What I'm confused about is whether we would need new plans drawing up by an architect OR whether a builder would be able to adapt some drawings we submitted for planning permission 4 year ago for a double story rear extension of a slightly smaller width. Planning permission was granted but unfortunately we never had the extension built due to a variety of reasons. The drawings are very detailed and outline materials to be used, where supports are needed etc but would the requirements be completely different if we only did a single storey and made it slightly wider?? I hope this all makes sense! Help! Thanks x
  10. Hi, we have recently purchased an Aarow cast iron gas fire which we would love to have installed before Christmas. Having spoken to a few friends we have become aware that this may be harder than we thought! The fire was sold as in full working order, and we have obtained an instruction / installation manual direct from the company. The fire place into which we would like it fitted is currenly boarded up, but has previously had a living flame gas fire in situ which was removed about 5 years ago, and ase such has a capped gas line running to it. We are assuming that the chimney is therefore suitable also. Is there anyone who could give us some advice or recommend a Gas Safe registered engineer? Many thanks

  12. I'm not joking....she isn't amused at all. She is of the opinion that jigsaws are for anyone over the age of 70! On a serious note, I expected the time to be spent teaching the students some life skills (basic IT, basic financing, basic banking , career choices etc). Maybe it will suddenly make comelete sense - so much has changed sine I was at school.
  13. lol....well, my daughter has come home school & infomed me that her 'enrichment time' is to be spent as a fully fledged member of the Jigsaw club!!! How on earth will this enrich the future of my 15 year old???
  14. I visited and was suprsed that despite a lot of dead space (especially on the landings on the stairs), the school is not offering any storage lockers or even coat hooks for the pupils. That's alot of wet soggy coats, hats and scarves which will need carrying around in the winter.
  15. Hi all, I seem to have developed another possible side effect - dizziness. Started a few days ago and is worse if I look up quickly! Has anyone else experienced this? Did it settle eventually? Thanks x x x
