  1. This is true, my partner has just come home and told me! He works at the job centre where this happened. It was actually a man and the baby had only a t shirt and a nappy on!! The man was ranting and raving that he had not had any money and was told he needed to carry out the correct procedures and speak to benefit help line....he wasn't happy with this option and basically said he can't afford to look after his child so left the baby there!! Police were called and they dealt with the situation
  2. From personal experience of dealing with my fathers mental illness all of my life I can say we need more of these "crisis houses" in Sheffield!! I have gone through many hours of sitting in A and E with my Dad to be told "sorry we have no beds in Sheffield" go home and a member of the crisis team will come at some point, not good when someone is unstable. My dad did once go to a crisis house for the night and I was so grateful because this took the pressure off of me he then was admitted to hospital.....in Harrogate! Why do some people think people who suffer with mental illness are zombies? And Ive definitely visited my dad before at a secure hospital in Netheredge....so what's the deal! I'm not posting to get involved in some discussion about "snobs" and how Netheredge is far to good to have a crisis house, just wanted to share my 32 years dealing with mental illness, wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy! On a positive note my dad is doing really well at the moment, he has good and bad days but hey ho dont we all
  3. It was her son, and I have known him for many years. So sad RIP xx
  4. Thanks for the replies, i will be contacting all of the above for quotes tomorrow :-)
  5. Hi can anyone recommend a reasonably priced blind fitting company? Need blinds for every room in house so looking for some good offers! Thanks :-)
  6. Hi This is a great idea especially as i have just spent the last 3 years caring for my Dad who suffers really bad with depression and anxiety. Infact only today have i been back with the crisis team fighting for my dad to get a bed in hospital, no beds in Sheffield so looks like Harrogate or Bradford again!
  7. Hi He's still there, 2 patients have gone back to Sheffield today, one of the crisis team explained that they took 15 beds away last year to focus more on home help....Dad has tried this but they would say they were visiting at 9am and turn up at 4pm! Not good for someone who is suicidal. And what you find with him being away from home is their not really concentrating on him, just leaving him be and making sure he eats and sleeps and hoping The Northen will deal with him when he gets back. I dont want to bad mouth the system as my dad has suffered from the age of 19 and is now 62 and we have always managed to get him admited when he gets bad, but the errors and lack of communication can make you loose faith at times. I live for the day that he can stand up to "Depresion" and live his life again.
  8. Whatever any of you do stay clear of Highton Street Walkley, they arnt pot holes they are craters!! My little Mini nearly disapears down them!!
  9. Hi Thanks for your replies, since i posted this thread my Dad went really down hill to the point where i was sat in A&E on Thurs night from 4pm til 2am... No beds in Sheffield so we ended up being taken to a Hospital in Bradford at 5am Fri morn, i am now in the process in trying to get him back over to Sheffield when a bed becomes available but 7 of the patients there are from here and are waiting. Everyday is a battle but a battle i will try my hardest to win and hopefully one day he will realise and be able to deal with the situation. Thanks again i will look into the places you have all kindly posted.
  10. Hi Guys I was wondering if anyone knows of any drop in centres for people who suffer with severe depression? My Farther has sufferd all of his life and has had many stints in hospital, he has just come out after 6 weeks after a failed suicide attempt and is still feeling very anxious and down. He does have a key worker but it seems to take so long to put things into practice so i thought i would try on here as you all maybe more help. Many Thanks Liz
