  1. Thats what they need to know about at the meetings. I'm hoping they have another one and that I can make it. M&S, Costa, a supemarket & pub / restaurant are being spoken of. I have emailed the developers to see if they can let me know if they do have another meeting. Any one with concerns need to contact their councillor /MP to voice concerns re traffic etc So no one on here went to the meeting then?
  2. It seems the rumours were true and that some of the site that Norton College was on is to be a retail park. Living locally we recieved a card from the company who are redeveloping the site asking locals to attend to see plans etc. Unfortunately due to work comitments I couldnt go. Did anyone on the forum attend? and what was in the proposals? What do others living in the vicinity think about the proposals?
  3. I will second these guys, just fitted a couple of composite doors, almost a third cheaper than previous quotes we got. We are very pleased with them , so much so they are doing a window replacement for us.
  4. We are thinking of cladding front of our our detached gareage with room over, would also like it insulated if possible. Anyone know if the cost is very high for a job like this? Prob looking at 15-20sq mtrs
  5. Mmmm food is slightly above average, however if you dont go in designer clothes dripping in gold etc you get treat very differently. We like to look nice when we go out but dont like overly expensive showoffy clothes and as such the staff we not as attentive as they were to others shall we say. Personally I will not darken Marco's @ milano ever again and would advise against it. You can ger better food elsewhere and with nicer staff.
  6. Yes Kitos and Marco's are both BYO wine, not sure about beers, but deffo wine. Kashmiri Aroma, how can I leave that out I was only there on Friday, in a word excellent, good food nice staff, you must try it. Swanky Franks , as you said, its nothing special , burgers at Woodseats Palace are always OK if you want a burger and cheaper. there is a nice chinese Restaurant in Greenhill, Beijing City, near the roundabout across from the school. Been a couple of times and its nice, not superb but if you dont want to drive far its good. Woodseats also has the Abbey pub that does food, I havent been there recently but heard the pies are good. At the bottom of Woodseats Road there is a persian restaurant, was called the Shiraz may have changed its name, but that is nice for a different kind of spicey food. Lived in Woodseats over 25years so have tried everywhere around, some good some not so good. As alternate geek has mentioned The Broadfield is just a bus ride away and the food is very nice and not too pricey, wines are dear tho.
  7. the little italian near Big Tree is called Marco's. We have been going there for quite a while, it is little and very dated but never had a bad meal there. Kitos is good as well, nearby restaurant wise is Viraaj, indian which I dont rate but plenty do.Swanky Franks is nice, for a burger or steak. Further down, towards Meersbrook are several more restaurants, Everest indian, good. Rushour, which I think is now a surf and turf place, and a few samller ones I havent tried. Woodseats has a good and varied amount of takeaways as well so give them a try, Sultans and kitchen king are particularly good. and welcolm to Woodseats..
  8. Why if you live in Bradway are you using Pit Lane, your sorting office is Dore, bottom of Twentywell?
  9. Kitchen Creations far better quality for the price, and the appliances are also better . Our new kitchen is Howdens ( fitted by Jeff the joiner) and now we have used it a while we wished we'd gone back to kitchen creation, (bottom of London road).
  10. But the thread's reading as if people thought it was still open, so I thought I had better let people know it had actually closed down a while ago..
  11. I thought that this had closed around 3-4 years ago.
  12. My mums in Dalewood View, at Woodseats, on The Dale. The residents seem to have a good itinerary of leisure activities. Like your mum, my mum needs 24hour care but doesn't have dementia, just a variety of health issues. The staff are all very nice, you can visit at any time, and it never seems to have the nursing home "smell". Well not that I've noticed and she's been there 2 years, she likes it, well as much as they can. Good luck, PM if you want any more info, it's a bit of a minefield out there finding the right home.
  13. Well the Asda store at Woodseats can not be called a Superstore, Handsworth is SE sheffield, Manor top and Queens Road, Central Sheffield and Mosborough is a small township SE of Sheffield.. South Sheffield is postcodes S7 & S8,delivered from the Woodseats sorting office so exclude Woodseats Asda as its a small local supermarket. Aldi & Lidl are bigger than the Woodseats Asda Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsburys are large supermarkets, so land the size of Norton Colledge would be an attractive spot, however as I mentioned in my previous post I was told it is going to housing.
  14. I asked a friend about this a couple of months ago, as she is on some educational committee. She said it had been or is being sold off for housing. I asked her as there are rumours surfacing from time to time that The Norton pub is being turned into a supermarket, and I wondered with the size of the plot the college is on if would be wanted by such as ASDA who don't have a site on the south side of Sheffield. Time will tell I suppose.
  15. i seem to recall, when I asked the very same question, that somebody replied and said he had been quite ill and was no longer doing any type of work. I hope he is OK cos he was a great guy, and he always did a good job. If anyone knows how he is could they put it on here.
  16. I think it was called Improvision. You could get also free tickets from Revolution records on the gallery above castle markets. I saw some great bands at Improvision and some not so great, just cos it was free or cheap. Happy Days Saw some awesome bands at Top Rank, many already mentioned, saw The Clash at least once, The Jam, Stranglers several times , Boomtown Rats, Stray Cats, . It was around the time of rock on the rates which also had some great bands, all free.
  17. Your GP is a bit like schools, they will ( or would last time I enquirered) ask where you live. If you are out of their area they will not let you register at that practice. If you are in or near Meersbrook, the surgery on Gleadless Road (the one near the Co-op, not near the traffic lights is supposed to be good. It's called Heeley Green Surgery.
  18. Had a bees nest sorted 2weeks ago, the guy does wasps as well £42. Job done, they've gone. PM if you want his number ( as it's at home so not got it on me)
  19. Just had Matt Viney and his crew come and fit several new double glazed upvc windows. They came when they said and did a great job. We had a few quotes, Matt was only slightly more than one of them, but beat the other company by a mile. His mobile is 07932022997 and has a web site http://www.mjviney.com and he is FENSA registered
  20. Recently used Dyson Centre 0114 243 8883 74-76, Upwell Street, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S4 8AJ Vacuum Cleaner Sales And Repair Did a great job on our DC25, cheaper than Apollo . Looked like new when it came back. Would recommend.
  21. Just used Lemark at North Anston trad est for a desk and 2 chairs, great service and great price. Hubby wanted to go to Ikea but we got better quality, cheaper, free delivery and they put the desk together for us in the room it was going in. I'd recommend these guys.
  22. Bought some this weekend from the large Tesco Extra at Chesterfield. The one at Abbeydale or the one near Wicker may have some.
  23. Try Rachael at Bradway Pet Shop 180 Bradway Rd, Sheffield, South Yorkshire 0114 236 9855 She lives on Woodseats as does her mum, she offered to deliver to us when we lived on Woodseats. Give her a call, they can only say no, or yes !
  24. a collegue has told me to post here. Got an old , not pretty but functional fridge. Was in daily use until we moved, so I presume still OK. Free if anyone would like it. PM if you want it or more info
