  4. Yes its definitely postponed. Sorry to anyone who was going to come but its thought the ground would have been too wet for races and it would have been pretty miserable in the rain.
  5. Thanks Oddy19 - just heard due to the forecast rain the event is being postponed until later in the year. Expected to be rescheduled 14th September but we will confirm when its all agreed.

  7. I probably should have said being a Methodist church it will be an alcohol-free party (That's "alcohol-free" not "free alcohol"!!). Whilst most of us do enjoy a drink or two its not allowed on church premises so we have to respect that! We're aiming for all age family fun so games will be along the lines of team games/races/quizes depending on who turns up. I've never heard of Magic Robot but sounds intriguing! Food will be a pretty simple buffet - sandwiches, sausage rolls etc Cheese footballs may be available by special request! ;-)
  8. Wisewood Methodist Church on Ben Lane are holding a Jubilee Party tomorrow (Saturday 2nd June) from 6.30pm onwards. We will be having a 1950's style buffet and games/activities. Open to all and suitable for 0 - 100 yrs old! We are having a red, white and blue theme so come dressed up if you want (or not if you don't!) Everything is free so pop down and join in the fun.
  9. Hi rachelina We only compost waste from the site itself - we can't accept waste from elsewhere (I think we'd need a licence to dispose of other waste even if it is in a compost bin!). Sorry that doesn't help you much. At home I have a wormery which is quite quick at turning waste into compost and could also be moved quite easily if you needed to since its all in trays. Alternatively you could try Bokashi which only takes a few weeks so you could keep going for longer. I've not tried bokashi myself but am considering getting some bins this year to start before adding to the compost since fresh waste can attract rodents and bokashi is supposed to reduce this. Alternatively you might find the new residents are happy with you leaving some partly rotted compost. On our last move we did that although we also left the bin as well which seemed like a fair deal given the previous owner of the new house did the same so we ended up no worse off!
  10. Just to add the new site is really starting to take shape now and we have exciting plans for 2012 so now would be a great time to get involved if anyone is interested in learning about growing their own food or raising animals. As lem1 says we have space for new members and volunteers. Becoming a volunteer is free and you don't have to commit to anything in terms of time (if we have surplus produce and you want to buy it you can but don't have to!) Its a great way to meet people, get outside, learn about where food comes from and generally have fun.
  11. Thanks everybody! I can't take any credit for the idea but if tomorrow is successful we will hopefully run more sessions during the coming year. Please spread the word . . . we are sure there are lots of people locally that would benefit but getting the message to them is more tricky. Thanks
  12. Posted in general discussions but thought it might also be useful here for any parents in the Wisewood/Hillsborough area. Wisewood Methodist Church on Ben Lane will be open between 11am and 3pm tomorrow (29th December) for anyone from the local community who is in need of some company and/or food this holiday season. It will be a drop in session however we are aiming to be open to anyone locally who has a need for getting out for a couple of hours for whatever reason: Maybe your family has now gone home after the celebrations and you are feeling post Christmas Blues or having had the children at home for a week they are now driving you crazy and you need to get out of the house! We will have games for children (and adults!), snooker and free hot food on offer for those who require it so please pop down.
