  1. Hi, I have asked this in the past but then the finances were not available to go ahead with it but we are looking to have our website rebuilt. Our current one can be found at http://www.waterguard.co.uk The requirements would be for it to be similar layout to what we have now just a more modern feel and look to it. You can call me on my office phone number to discuss it in more detail, its on the website. I am not looking to move hosts as I am very happy with our current web host (JD Approach). I am roughly after the following: each page to be based on a template with the menu pane and header and footer the same. a contacts page with a form that gets emailed to a preset email address depending on a selction from a drop down box a page with downladable links (pdf's), that I can add to at a later date. the website to be built with SEO in mind. we want to get as high as possible on google for specific search terms. possabily imbedded video which could be hosted on youtube (I cant remember who provided that idea but thank you), demonstrating our product. thats about all I can think of at the moment. Thank you Lee
  2. I am wondering if any other companies who use telewest/virgin are currently having issues with regards their email systems? It has been a week that we have been unable to send out emails, which isnt good for business. I have contacted our host, fast2host, and telewest/virgin and been told our ip has been blocked and there is nothing that can be done. I was wondering what solutions any other companies that have suffered from this have come up with to get their emails working again?

  4. thanks I wil look into doing the alt tags this afternoon. one thing I thought that may help with my google ranking is replacing the index background picture, which contains the large writing, the actual words. Does anyone know how what the code would be to place them correctly? i can figure out the font, size, colour, etc. its just getting them in the place there meant to be.
  5. Thanks for the replies, the email server is set as mail.waterguard.co.uk, it hasnt been touched so I didnt think it would be this. I have raised a fault with virgin so hopefully when they call me back that will resolve the issue and we can send emails again (my drafts folder is getting quite large).
  6. its when we try and send an email, they arrive fine, it comes back with an undeliverable error, pasted below. Subject: RE: WaterGuard Sent: 18/02/2008 09:43 The following recipient(s) could not be reached: ******** on 18/02/2008 09:44 There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator. <waterguard.co.uk #5.5.0 smtp;554 Sending address not accepted due to spam filter>
  7. Our business is on virgin media and we recently had a problem with our connection which involved an engineer doing something to our account "behind the scenes". Since then wh have a problem with our email server and it comes up with an smtp error? i had a look on the server but cant see anything wrong, is it something i should be ringing virgin about or trying to solve myself?
  8. Thanks, when I have time I am going to add some more content, its just getting the time!
  9. Thanks for the replies. Shakermaker, I didnt think it was that bad but appreciate the honesty. I couldnt tell you how much it cost as I inherited it from the person I took over from. I used Paint.net to change it. Considering I have no experiance of paint programs, bar mspaint and vague recollections of deluxe paint on the amiga, I dont think I did too bad with copy and paste. Any suggestions on further aestetic improvements will be gladly accepted.
  10. I had my website designed by a quite inept company who I will not name, and I was wondering if anybody could help me correct a flaw on the home page? it is at http://www.waterguard.co.uk The name WaterGuard is in two different colours and I would prefer it if it was in one. I have a basic understanding of HTML, enough to let me edit and play around with exsisting code, but I cannot work out how to change it! Would anybody be able to look at the code and advice on how to do it? It would be very much appreciated.
  11. thanks, i'll try both. for some reason ms paint is deleted off my machine and i cant get it back, I'll push my colleague off his machine!
  12. Hi, another quick question....Our logo for letterheads is pretty simple, a tiny picture of our control unit with WaterGuard written next to it. At the moment I just have it as a template so itopens on all new emails but the font size keeps changing and its really annoying to have to change it on every email. I would like to convert it into a Jpeg or similar image format so that doesn't keep changing. Is there a nice easy way to do this? Thanks
  13. Thats what I want to look into. Getting websites to link to us to improve our rating. I was told you have to get websites to add some specific code. is this true or is it literally a link to our website that is needed?
  14. Ok the amount of code has scared me in the responses has scared me! I think its a little bit too complicated (for me anyway), to add an enquiries box. monomeil, will doing what you say help with spam? we are getting a lot at the moment! mattseo, why wont the meta tags help the ranking? im on a very steep learning curve with all this...
  15. Hi, now I have access to our company website, I was wondering on the code I have to ask other website administrators to put on their website, linking to ours, to increase our standing on search engines?
