  1. I don't think that we have outgrown marriage - the people who want to get married will continue to get married and the ones who don't want to get married won't get married. If my partner hadn't proposed then I would have been happy to continue living with him as we already were, because I love him more than anything in the world (although I am very glad he proposed ). He is my best friend and I cannot imagine living my life without him in it. If marriage is 'just a piece of paper' then so is a poem or a symphony. I want to be married to my partner because I love him. I want to stand up in front of everyone I know, and make the same vows and promises that people have done for many years. Maybe we will have a reception, maybe a disco, maybe a meal but they are just a bonus and a way to celebrate our relationship with our friends and family. The most important part to me is making those promises and publicly declaring my love and commitment. I will be taking his name too and I will be incredibly proud to do so - I will still be the same person just with a different name. People may consider my opinions to be outdated however they are my views and I stand by them.
  2. I'd like to recommend a mortgage broker I used recently. He was really helpful, found me a fantastic deal and went out of his way to answer any questions I had. It was all done by email and telephone too. His name is Steve Beecroft and his number is 07773 585190. His email is [email protected]
  3. Recommendations for plasterer and decorator Plasterer - Mark 07763 185458. did a fantastic job of replastering my kitchen - also he really went above and beyond the call of duty helping us out to fix a leak - nothing to do with his plastering but he helped us to sort it out. Really appreciated! Decorator - user mmitchell on here. Painted my kitchen and his work is excellent. Both of them are really nice guys, I would happily recommend them to anyone.
  4. I have just done this in my kitchen. I used a Structural Engineer at Andrew Russell Associates named Gary Pagdin. Their tel is 0114 2554044. He was really good and did all the calculations. He cost around £175. Once he had been I applied for the Building Notice (I assume that is the £162 you mention), the Building Inspector came round to look at the RSJ when it was in, and came back again once it was plasterboarded up, then I received my completion notice. I wouldn't do the work without getting proper building regs consent - you could have problems selling the house in the future without it if you don't. Hope this helps
  5. Recommendation removed. Complaint now being dealt with by Corgi.
  6. Yorkshire Building Society do a free budget planner here I haven't used it, so don't know how good it is, but it might be worth a try?
  7. They are now providing shuttle buses between Spring Lane and Gleadless Town End. Also tram tickets are valid on buses on City Road too apparently.
  8. Get in touch with Shelter http://england.shelter.org.uk/advice/index.cfm
  9. I don't believe this 'no evidence' either tinkabel. There are plenty of anti-immunisation websites out there full of families who believe their childs autism was caused by the MMR jab. Until someone with substantial medical credentials can convince me 1000% that it is safe and poses no risk whatsoever to my son, then I will stand by my decision to give single vaccines all the way.
  10. I paid £280 for all three (although this was 2 years ago) looking at the clinic's website where I had them done it is now £105 for measles, £145 for mumps, and £85 for rubella - £335 in total. Worth every penny IMO.
  11. My son had single vaccines 3 months apart, at a clinic in the West Midlands (the one that Draggletail linked to above). I would have paid any amount of money purely for my peace of mind (and I am by no means rich). I researched and researched my decision and whether there is a link to autism proven or not, I am not prepared to take that sort of risk with my sons health. What has always niggled me the most is the lack of choice given by the Government and the fact that you have to virtually go underground to actually get single vaccines. They clinics where they are offered are usually very well hidden(not hidden as in down a back street, more through recommendations on internet forums, etc). I don't see why the Government can't offer single vaccines, given by the GP, even if they had to charge a small amount for the actual vaccines, surely this would be better than their only alternative to the MMR, i.e. no vaccine. In my opinion parents are being denied the choice to make an informed decision and that is my main problem with this whole MMR business.
  12. According to their website Child Benefit can be claimed if You are you bringing up a child who: Is aged under 16? Is aged under 19 and studying full-time up to A level, Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education (AVCE) or equivalent?
