  1. Testing the water and would appreciate any suggestions: I'm considering moving my older horse if I can find somewhere to better suit mine and her requirements in the S17/S18 area. Ideally, I am looking for a small yard with option of both stable and grazing - good grazing (ideally 24/7) in summer as she is a poor doer, and at least some leg-stretch turnout (with others) in winter. Long/flexible yard hours are a must, as well as the option of some livery help such as turnout/fetch in and occasional full livery cover, due to my own long work hours. She is still in work so a school would be nice, but not essential if there is good hacking nearby. It would be great to move somewhere where other people are keen to hack regularly and have the odd outing to shows etc. Please reply or PM if you know of anywhere that might be suitable.
  2. Hi everybody, I wonder if anyone can help me. I am looking for a 3.5 ton horse box for rental, from either a private source or a company, that I could drive myself for going to the odd horse show or similar event. I'm not looking for a transport service with driver included. The company/individual that I rented it from would have to be based in Sheffield. Does anyone know of this sort of service? I have found some companies outside of Sheffield, quoting a daily rate of about £90 - this would be ok, as long as weekend pick-up and drop-off was feasible. Alternatively, is anyone/does anyone know of a horse-owner based in Sheffield (particularly North Sheffield) with their own box, who competes BSJA at shows such as Westfield Park, Manor Grange Stud, Port Royal EEC etc who would be interested in having me as a box-sharer in exchange for contributions to travel expenses etc. Thanks in advance for any help!
  3. Horse-riding wise, there are lots of riding schools in sheffield, but as you have no transport I'd need to know the area in which you are based...
  4. My friend also rode at Barnes Green and said it was nice there.
  5. Hi j118nne, I'm based at Hunter House Equestrian (I can't get the link on here but just google "hunter house equestrian" and the website will come up) It's a absolutely lovely place, off Oughtibridge Lane (2min from Oughtibridge/Grenoside) with both large american style indoor stabling and a more traditional stableyard. There is a large rubber surface school and excellent grazing. I think there are only full livery places available at the moment, and I cannot recommend highly enough the level of care the horses on full livery get. Sarah, who runs the yard, is a qualified instructor and has trained with Monty Roberts. The hacking is fantastic - you leave through a gate straight off the yard and are directly into miles of woodland riding (Wharncliffe and Greno woods), including access to the Pennine Trail, without ever having to cross a road if you don't want! I compete BSJA with my thoroughbred mare and I am completely content her care at these stables, even to the extent that when I move to Totley next year, I will not be moving her; I'd rather travel further than go elsewhere. I'd really recommend you having a look.
  6. oh sorry...I live in crookes too but she is stabled between hillsborough and grenoside, roughly a 15min drive from crookes
  7. hi there, don't know if you're still looking but... I have been thinking for a while about getting a sharer for my 16.2hh mare, very unsure about it as I obviously don't want just any old person riding her! But the financial and time benefit would help a lot if the right person can along with the necessary experience and ability. Email me if you are still looking, we could at least discuss it and see if we think it could work out. My mare is a lovely ride, super in every way, we're currently competing senior BSJA, very fun but not a nervous ride if that's what your after.
