  1. Doh. It's obvious. We do fantastic strawberries. Particularly at this time of year. Reight cheap in Aldi at moment. They would buy financial services off us normally - you know the bit that makes up 40% our GDP and with it about 45% of our tax revenues but I think we are making a good job of killing that off ourselves without the Germans help thank you.
  2. But didn't you know, the Germans would be mad not to want to trade with us. They sell us their cars. Therefore, they will negotiate on whatever terms we want. We are the worlds 5th, err sorry, 6th biggest economy (and if things carry on like today for the rest of the week it will be 8th).

  4. At least the Americans can vote for Donald. We just vote for a party. I might just have a quick check on how my shares in Easyjet are going....... (ok I haven't got any. Wonder if FoxyLady has though).
  5. He can appeal the decision based on the two points that you have raised. They would then need to specifically answer those points. I take it he doesn't have his own copy of his COE. He could also put a SAR in (will cost him £10) at which they will be compelled to supply him (although try asking first).
  6. 1975 vote and also a vote to leave and not join. Be unlike leavers to allow facts to get in the way or a good statement though
  7. 1.2 million and counting. 8 more million and it will match the number of over 65s who can vote.
  8. But this is what we have got to look forward to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_MzHFiu-6Y
  9. Brexit - A fat man from Barnsley sitting on a white plastic chair.
  10. Think you might have underestimated the tax element. £20K Tax and Ni per year is a salary £65K. They're earning that when they are 21! In reality before bonus they are earning between £90K and £120K basic. Just taking the £120K and ignoring bonus the tax intake for the Government of somewhere in the region of £94million for just these 2000 people. And before anyone complains they get paid too much - that tax for the Government is the equivalent of over 70,000 full time employees aged over 25 on the minimum wage.
  11. Thank God for that. I was really worried about the greenbelt land they would have to use to build a new hospital every week.
  12. And petrol judging by the queues I've seen this morning. Don't normally go out on Friday morning - are they always like that?
  13. If there is one thing that can be learnt from this referendum it is that people want to vote and our electoral system needs changing so that peoples vote throughout the country start to count instead of those in a handful of seats.
  14. Think you might alot of that is a bit of profit taking. Ive done it myself with some Euros over past couple of weeks. Unfortunately not on the scale that these guys would have but enough to pay the bills and Spanish tax for next 18 months! ---------- Post added 23-06-2016 at 21:29 ---------- And it will be about 2am before any sort of even remote indication will be available.
  15. Again as Cyclone says, NI will be correct. In terms of c.v. a two week gap between jobs will never a problem (people often take holidays between roles). And people rarely on a c.v. put exact dates - invariably they put months. So again, nothing to worry about.
  16. It will be Turkish. FACT. (Nigel says so).
  17. They're actually all at work making sure they keep their job. Try going back between 5 and 8 tonight (beware there will be big queues) and see how the voting is then. As I said previously, just because they don't shout doesn't mean they don't vote. The quiet ones are the ones you need to worry about.
  18. Switzerland rejected in a referendum and their Government is under mandate to renegotiate with EU a new deal before February 2017. So far the EU have refused to negotiate - indeed in March this year Switzerland agreed to allow Croatian citizens form part of the deal which they previously did not. Free movement is a key principle of the European free trade deal and no matter how much Boris bleats on about the madness, as said if they did it for the UK they would need to do it for the other 9 and that simply won't happen.
  19. I really don't think you understand trade negotiations and how they work. If they let the UK on a simple free trade deal with no restriction on movement of people then Norway, Switzerland and the other 9 European countries that are required to have free movement of people as part of a free trade deal will be asking for the same. It just won't happen. Why do you think these countries accept free movement as part of a trade deal?
  20. Once we come out (2 years max) we will default to WTO regulation if no other agreement has been reached. This is very complex based on the type of goods but there are default tariffs of between 4 and 10% for most goods although some are much higher (and with it increased paperwork .... otherwise known as red tape......). The head of the WTO says we didn't really ought to default to this and instead should stay in, it is a much better deal.
  21. I honestly wouldn't know. There has been much more funding into Universities though in the past 40 years and with that an increase in the number of people going to University. There was a time when University really was for the rich and privileged and 40 years ago it really did cost to go (even when the tuition part was free). I think this side of things is often overlooked and when we yearn for the good old days when Britain was great, it was only great for a small number of the population. . ---------- Post added 23-06-2016 at 13:26 ---------- Maybe not directly related to the EU but here's a good piece of Case Law for UKIP and use of the Commonwealth for workers: Two Nigerian nationals, both in the UK under domestic migrant visas, were mistreated and abused by their employers (see paras 3, 4 and 8 of the judgment for the description of how they were treated). After escaping, they brought successful claims under the minimum wage (and other similar) legislation. They also sought compensation under the Equality Act, asserting they had been directly or indirectly discriminated against on grounds of their nationality. The Supreme Court disagreed. It was not direct discrimination because the mistreatment was due to their vulnerable migrant status, not because of their nationality. Nor was it indirect discrimination, because there was no ‘provision, criterion or practice’ applied by the employers to their employees. Baroness Hale suggested, in a concluding paragraph, that Parliament might consider whether employment tribunals ought to be given jurisdiction to award compensation under section 8 of the Modern Slavery Act to grant recompense for ill-treatment meted out to vulnerable migrant workers.
  22. As Cyclone states so long as they pay her correctly it won't have any impact. PAYE is calculated tax year to date and with real time reporting any impact will be negated on her first pay run in new position.
  23. When we joined the EU, 17% of the UK workforce had a degree. Now its is 32% - and climbing. By natural course there will be proportionally more graduates per role. Therefore naturally if they drop out or did not go they are competing against a bigger pool for these jobs.
  24. Of course there is. - don't mark your ballot paper with the pencil they give you in the booth (it can be rubbed out) - the BBC is biased as it is funded by the EU (I did like when I read that one on the day I paid my licence fee) - there will be a whistle blower who will confirm that it is all a fix - everyone who states the we will be worse of will be wrong/got it wrong before/lunatic/don't know what they are talking about (delete the 90%+ of economists as appropriate) - everyone who says that all the days will be sunny and we can run through the meadows singing Rule Britannia are correct. So for all those who think there is a conspiracy going on ..... did you know that in the second world war George Allison used to commentate on football matches on BBC radio to games that were not actually being played. The reason being to fool the Germans into thinking the weather was actually better than it was. We fooled them once, let's do it again......
