  1. Hi Scrapman, hope I have the right person but I believe you lived on Rothay Road, if so it was me who called into your office ?? in Spain. The spanish guy who I spoke to looked and acted with complete bewilderment, I put this down to the fact that I mentioned Grimesthorpe and Owler Lane. May see you next time.

  6. Hi all, thanks for such a good day out, but it's now time to replace some liquid lost during the walk.
  7. Hi scoobz obviously I don't know which route you are taking, but the main trail holds no problems at all as it incorporates a cycle track and a seperate bridleway. Not sure about your route back from Crowden but part of the route should be along a short section of the Pennine Way.
  8. I never worked at Herries Rd for the bus company but I did work there for a time when we re-wired it in the eighties ????. I had cousins who did work out of there (Whithams) and got to know quite a few of the mechanics etc, and a superindendant ???? called Brian ??? who I met last year ??? out at the Derwent Dam, and to his credit he remembered me straight away. I have worked in many places both near and far away but always look back on Herries Rd with fond memories and many many laughs.

  23. Hi all does anyone know what the significance of the stone faces arranged in the shape of a cross, which are built into the wall on Church Street. These are situated on the same side as the church but about 25mtrs from the junction with Mill Road, going up the hill.
  24. Hi bobo now that you have done this walk, why not try the Derwent watershed, although this is a fair bit longer it does not have too many ups and downs?????. The views are great and you cover roughly Win Hill, Loose Hill, the Great Ridge, Rushop Edge, Brown Knoll, Kinder, Bleaklow, Derwent Edge, and part of Stannage Edge and back to the Yorkshire Bridge.
