What a brilliant night on Friday, someone once asked why the Grimesthorpe thread had so many hits, just being there answered any questions, wonderful people.

Alligin replied to brigitte1's topic in Sheffield Walkers
I'm one of scoobz walking pals and will try to call in on Friday to see your exhibition, if you are there I will make myself known. -
Bands seen at the Wharncliffe Hotel Firth Park in the 60s
Alligin replied to Timbuck's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
I saw all the bands mentioned, and many more but as my wife used to live there and her aunt kept the Sicey it was'nt surprising. -
Hi Dommi I can remember Brigitta from the photo that was posted but never saw her or many other people from school after we all left. I do see Margaret Allison, in fact I was with her about 2weeks ago when she last came back to the UK to see her mum. If you would like to contact her I will pass on details on the night of the reunion.

Thanks all for another great walk.

Anne d leave your car at our house or I will pick you up at 9-00hrs leaving time to drive down to meet the others. As I once said to scoobz I'm the worlds worst passenger so if possible I always drive.

Hi should be along for this meet, being selfish I can't fault the venue it's within easy walking distance from the railway station.

Sunday Walk "Alport Castles in the Clouds" 22nd February 2009
Alligin replied to scoobz's topic in Sheffield Walkers
Brilliant photo's taxman, they enable me to show Margaret where we have been and to put faces to names for her. Thanks -
I remember my first visit to Ernest Oldhams, he put the cape round me, I took one look at him gave him a kick and ran out, running up Holywell Road like a very small batman. Of course I got a a bit of a walloping, but I never learned went and did the same thing on my first day at school in one door kicked the teacher and ran out of another door. Our Anne, who reads all these postings can confirm this, my bum and the fireside shovel had many a meeting after this.

Sunday Walk "Alport Castles in the Clouds" 22nd February 2009
Alligin replied to scoobz's topic in Sheffield Walkers
Hi thanks to all especially scoobz for choosing such a good walk, the best I have been on with you all. Also after recommending the group to Anne D it was so pleasing to see how you all once again made a new member so welcome thanks. It's now time to set out on another hill walk to replace all the lost fluid with one or two beers. Once again thanks to all. -

Sunday Walk "Alport Castles in the Clouds" 22nd February 2009
Alligin replied to scoobz's topic in Sheffield Walkers
I'm coming along on this walk and have 2 spare places in the car if required. The only extra equipment I will bring is a video camera as there is a nice large pole in Fairholmes car park, not quite the North Pole but I'm sure it will suffice to film the dance of the year if we are a minute later than 5hrs. Of course its more than worth making sure we are late to film this time honoured dance (no running Taxman). -
Hi scoobz sorry can't make this meet as I'm in hospital on the 18th and 19th and will not be in a fit state, unless things get cancelled. I would have liked to be there as I would have suggested a walk from the Mark Richardson book.

Hi cat the Ron Smith you mentioned earlier was he the guy with the motorbike and sidecar who gave us a lift to work once, always used to say mind mi sidecar when you got in. I too can remember the moves of Mrs Russell, she once let our tribe watch her television, only the once though.

We always refered to Mrs Loukes shop as THE TOP SHOP

Hi cat, you remember right, the co-op did have sawdust on the floor, and one of my uncle's used to be the manager at one time. He was also in the desert rats during the second world war and received many decorations a fact I only found out about in later life.

Hi paul28uk, I do hope you have all the right snow equipment, if you are to tackle Helvellyn this coming weekend. Technically it's not too difficult but you need the right equipment at this time of year. Good luck.

Hi werdna scoobz is right about the approximate age range, apart from one real old GIMMER, who you normally find limping along at the back.
-
Hi Dommi, look forwards to seeing you at the next re-union, I will be the one with no hair and a fat belly. If you need a lift I'm sure my good lady will drive in fact as last time she may stay for the evening.
-
Hi all and thanks for a good day out.
-
Hi cat, no need to keep the box after I left, or I nicked it and its in my garden now. Oh before the next re-union I do believe that it could be your Birthday but we will keep that a secret.

Don't worry about size rf2690 at 4ft 11ins you will tower above Dommi if my memory serves me well, but he was the first person I knew who had a tattoo, the little imp.
