  1. I have to encourage myself to get up the hills now, remember I'm just an old gimmer, so it's always good to have somebody to accompany me.
  2. Thanks to all for a good day out, and a big well done to Mrs DJ them there hills are steep.
  3. Hey taxman I've put wheels onto my zimmer frame so watch out especially on the down hill stretches.
  4. May I join Hemlocks group please oh have I asked this question before, got fed up of showing the young bucks up.
  5. Hi Hemlock, can't commit to Thursday's walk, as for the second time this week I have to be in Harrogate early tomorrow morning. If the so called en-power heating engineers don't succeed in getting my daughters heating boiler working I may have to stay over or go back again on Thursday. Bless their cotton socks they have failed up to now on 4 other visits so I'm not too confident on tomorrows outcome.
  6. Good decision Bright Side i'm sure you will enjoy the walk and the people in the group. Hope you also make another walk the following week after all you have a week to recover. Having said all this I can't make tomorrows walk as it's Rememberance Sunday so I will be having a little walk in Sheffield.
  7. Hi Bright Side do you originate from Brightside??? if you do you will be fine as they are all tough nuts from that area. One thing I would say is do try a walk it's so much fun, so you forget the distance until you get home, then you can't get out of the car, well that what I'm like.
  8. As soon as I wrote that I knew it was the wrong thing to say, especially as the pub is near to Spring Street. Only the older members of this bantering bunch will understand the significance of Spring Street and perhaps some of the folks in the pet section oh and POPS oh and scoobz.
  9. Should be able to make this will confirm later.
  10. Hi I will be along, but I'm afraid that on November the 26th I will have a sore throat so will have to be excused singing duties, apart from that I'm rubbish.
  11. Hi only day I'm busy next week at the present time is Tuesday, yet another trip to Harrogate. So yes I would like to do a small walk next week, but it does depend on E-on being able to repair a boiler fault, at the third attempt.
  12. I would have joined you all on this walk, but for the third time this week I'm off up to Harrogate, daughter calls and I obey.
  13. Hi megalithic, did you go to the stone circle below Hordron edge, it's a place I have walked past many times but ashamedly never taken notice of.
  14. Hi all unable to make this walk due to it being rememberance sunday, but to everyone else it's a walk well worth doing.
  15. I will be at the meeting, my reasons are very selfish because the last 3 walks I have been on have been brilliant and that includes Sundays. I have enjoyed so much laughter and banter with folks that I don't want my fun being spoilt by some minor mistakes.
  16. Hi all I don't want to be involved in this debate???? but I have to say that a GOOD leader would not have needed to stop, he or she would have moderated the pace to keep ALL relatively close together. I also have to be sarcastic Keefy, you ask what dangers, look in the mirror you carried a map round your neck but had to ask me where you was! was you using it as a scarf. Oh and by the way this walk was by no means challenging but then in depends on your experience. To close this little post I find it disgusting for people to publish what I think are derogative comments because a man was worried about his wife's well being, especially a man who has taken such time effort and dedication to organise walks for so long. Also Keefy you did offer a water proof but as for the 2 or 3 offers to stay with the lady they only came surprisingly from the 2 most experienced people not from anyone else including you.
  17. Well done to all who went on the walk today, I enjoyed every part of it, well maybe not the walk back along the TPT. Mind you, my opinion is not much to go by, as I like the wet muddy conditions, must be my third childhood. Also as long as I have a laugh a walk down High St is o/k, for me people make the walk the rest is a bonus.
  18. Hi all if anyone is stuck due to the strike please let me know.
  19. Hi Sam if you can say where you parked your car or where you set out from (ie the snake pub or the snake summit) I'm sure your walk can be identified. The 2 most popular starts are the summit and access Kinder Scout via Mill Hill and Black Ashop. The Snake Inn for walking the north side of Kinder and back via the Snake Path.
  20. Hi don't want to be pedantic Mr pedantic, as scoobz has said the centre is about a mile and a half along this road but on the Left when travelling towards Glossop. Although Bleaklow as to be respected, especially in mist, don't forget it is the Pennine Way which I believe we follow up to Bleaklow Head which is well trodden route. I believe we then decend by the side of Black Clough, so in poor conditions route finding should not be too much of a problem. After all alot of shamblers are doing a night walk when I'm sure it can be difficult to route find.
  21. Iv'e been lost for many many years, but who cares
  22. Hi Billysmum well if you are not in the kitchen you should be out fetching a take away meal while scoobz is making sure the beer is at the right temperature for YOU.
  23. scoobz to accommodate the knitting group would be quite easy, all we would have to do is have more regular stops to pick up any dropped stitches.
