  1. I'm currently looking at Norwood in S5. Affordable houses but not an area i'm really familiar with! Near the hospital and meadowhall which is good, but need to do what you suggested and go at different times of the day to see what the areas really like.
  2. I've been house hunting and as a first time buyer i'm finding that my price range is moving me further and further away from the area I know and love s6/s10. I've seen some nice properties around Norwood near the Northern General, any thoughts on what it's like up here? I know some people have told me it's not so nice near Musgrave further up? Thanks
  3. Looking for a well established mobile technician who can do acrylic and Gelish on evenings in S6 after 6pm. Must be Gelish with full range of colours and high standard of acrylic that doesn't lift after a few days and can be applied thinly! (On my own nails, no tips) inbox me details and any links to your work. If happy would be regular work
  4. Did you have much luck finding one? Im after an absolute beginners club in S6 or S10 or someone equally as bad as me to buddy up with!
  5. Is anyone aware of any clothing agencies that dont just deal in high end designer stuff? Sheffield ideally. There used to be one on Abbeydale Road a few doors down from Vamp but not seen any others since and have so much to sell now that I can't face ebay (and it's charges)!
  6. I just wondered if anyone had actually been clamped in the carpark on Barber Road that belongs to PA Jewellery. Particularly out of hours when there's no trade. I am all for supporting local businesses and made the mistake of parking there before they opened at 8am to buy a paper and a sandwich. I was less than 5 minutes. When I got back to my car I was confronted by a rather arrogant man claiming to be their clamper in a blue transit with no markings on it and a lot of tools in the back of it. He may well work for them....but he also may not if operating out of hours? Either way I think i'll shop elsewhere now. (I should also add that I wouldn't park in the car park if the cobbled area was free and I once parked there, also for less than 5 minutes, a delivery man for the Co-op had left me a nice note saying 'Move your car dumb c***' when there was room to pass! Got to love it.)
  7. If anyone can recommend a mobile nail technician who is qualified to do acrylic nails and Gelish in the S6 area please PM me. Only interested in Gelish rather than other Gel systems at the moment and need someone who can do evenings after 6pm. Basically I have acrylic nails with gelish over the top on my natural nails and I'm after someone who has been doing it a few years with images of their own work they can send! Thanks
  8. So glad I stumbled on this, I thought it was just me! Shame no-one can be bothered to address my complaint. I had 'damp' back in July and the joiner and plumber covered it up with boxing over the old damp boxing after ripping out parts of the other bathroom. Cut to a month later and the source of the damp comes to light, into the flat downstairs bathroom! Poor guy. I've been waiting, and calling constantly, since it happened at the end of September and 3 weeks later - they've finally turned up and done nothing they had booked in, with nothing that matches the original bathroom and it's dragging on and on. The call centre are useless and cant even take messages and the Sheffield Homes Offices are just decoration as they dont even forward plan the jobs for Kier. Absolutely useless, and a shame for us that have no choice but to rent trying to take pride in our homes and work full time jobs when they turn up when they feel like it -often doing nothing....and breath.
  9. Clothes Agencies are basically where busy people who have no time to sell their own new-ish clothes/bags/shoes take their items and an agent will sell them and split the profits. It's for items too nice to throw out or car boot etc, or those 'wear once' wonders we all have. So for example, I could take an item in to a shop and they sell it for £20. I would get £8 as the agent, and you would get £12 (usually 60% to the client I think is about what the rates are but I need to research this) I think there are a few around Sheffield but non I've been to myself...yet. It was just an idea i've had for a while as I'm forever buying stuff I'll wear one day...and don't and pretty sure others do the same!
  10. Hi - just had a quick read through and I commend you for wanting to work so young. I'm going back a lot of years now but I started work at 14 in a clothes shop on fargate but had to get a work permit. Not sure whether this is still the case now but I did get emergency taxed for a while but got it all back. I suggest you approach local firms in your area with a polite letter as you'll not have a CV yet and ask about paid apprenticeships maybe or work in a garage to learn a skill while you earn? This will be useful to read for you so you make sure you get paid correctly. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/ParentsRights/DG_4002945 Best of luck, if only there were more like you willing to get into work.
  11. Like many people, I'm thinking of ways to make some extra money and have for some time been toying with the idea of a dress agency (from home initially) I would welcome any feedback as to whether people would travel for this service for the right kinds of garments. Initially, I'd be clearing out my own very ample collection and have had a few very successful clothes parties to genuine fashion conscious people who appreciate the cost of the intial garments and will pay fair prices. (not ridiculously high but also not car boot prices!) Once I'd cleared my own stores, I'd look at taking in items for a commission of designer items perhaps and doing the hosting to make others money. I'd love my own shop but can't afford the over heads and probably couldn't live on it! I'm loathed to take my stuff to an agency myself as ebay is more fruitful but time consuming - also getting to post them is a nightmare due to my current working hours so I've abandoned my online trading! Do you already use agencies? How do you find them? Do you make reasonable money? The last time I used one was over 10 years ago in Abbeydale which shut down but I often wish I'd taken more notice of the set up. I think the commission they took was 40% with the client getting 60%? (I may be wrong)
  12. If you haven't already, I'd have your cat microchipped. I'd also consider fitting a cat flap so it can come and go as it pleases?
  13. Just posted in the jobs section as I need someone mobile to do mine tonight. http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=829927 If anyone is interested, PM me. I know it's not an 'actual' emergency but could really do with them doing this evening due to work commitments and plans over the weekend. Thanking you!!!
  14. I'm looking for a decent nail technician to do my nails at home in acrylic, tonight ideally about 6-6.30pm ish. I'm in S6 and I want to stress that I want someone who's been at it a while as i've had a few disasters over the years that have fallen straight off. I'm at work all day so please PM me if you're free this PM preferably with photos of your work. I usually go to top nails on Eccy Road and like them hard wearing, pretty thin and square tipped. I have no tips on, they're my nails. Thanks in advance.
