  1. La Jolie Ronde Spanish for children comes to Sheffield! !Hola! My name is Jo Howard and I am an experienced language teacher, having worked in secondary and primary schools both here and abroad. Along with native Spaniard Eva Oliver, I am opening a brand new La Jolie Ronde Spanish centre in Crookes for children aged 5-11. La Jolie Ronde was established in 1983 and has developed a fun way for children to learn French and Spanish. With La Jolie Ronde, children learn orally first. The emphasis is on songs, role-play, learning to communicate and enjoying the language. Children having completed the course have a sound knowledge of basic vocabulary and phrases which gives them an excellent grounding for future language learning. Lessons are on Thursday evenings 5.30-6.00 or 6.15-6.45. If you would like your child to attend a FREE taster class. Call Jo Howard on :07958 612 990. Edit/Delete Message
  2. La Jolie Ronde is bringing out a nursery course for 3-5 year olds in January. Up until then, 5 is the minimum age for the classes that we offer. Congratulations for December!
  3. I am not Spanish but I am engaged to a Spanish guy and Joannita is his nickname for me, which I chose as my forum name before I started this venture! It has a double consonnant because I am called Joanna and I'm not losing an 'n' for anyone! I am have been a language teacher for 7 years. I originally started teaching French and German at secondary level. Then I started learning Spanish with a view to moving to Barcelona. I gained an A grade at Spanish A level and went on to spend 2 years living in Barcelona and teaching English to adults and children. When I came back in July 2007 I started working for La Jolie Ronde, teaching French. I also teach French and Spanish as part of the curriculum in three Rotherham primary schools. My Spanish is very fluent because I have spent a lot of time around native speakers. However the Spanish classes offered in this advert will be taught by a native speaker, Eva Oliver, who is from Valencia in Spain.

  5. HI We are a new band performing original material. Our music has a kind of rock/jazz flavour with a pinch of blues and folk and strong vocal melodies. We are currently a very eclectic 3 piece from S. Africa, the Czech Republic and sunny Lancashire with female guitarist, male bassist and female vocalist. Our influences are extremely varied and we want to develop a more unusual sound rather than try to emulate existing guitar bands. We are looking for a drummer with originality, humour and a jazzy swing to their step. If you're interested in jamming with us call Jo on 07958 612 990.
  6. If you're still looking for someone, maybe I could be of use! I'm a singer-songwriter and have done quite a bit of gigging around Manchester in the past with a pop/rock band performing our own material. Did some recording too. I also used to be an Edith Piaf impersonator alongside a pianist friend and we took our act to the Edinburgh Festival in 2003 and did pretty well. I´m female, 32 - how old are you guys? Jo
  7. Thanks for giving me the lowdown. They're a greedy bunch these estate agents. I did actually get a house through an ad in the star with no application fee. So the story has a happy ending. For me anyway! There should be a watchdog for this!
  8. It would be fantastic if someone set up as a mobile knife sharpener! They have them in Spain. Basically they go round on a moped and they have the sharpening wheel on the back. It runs of the mpoed engine. I reckon I'm not the only one with a houseful of blunt knives and no idea how to sharpen them!
  9. Hi When I lived in Manchester I used to go to a great Flamenco class at Instituto Cervantes on Deansgate. It was run by a brilliant woman called Brenda, no Spanish roots whatsoever, but she'd spent years travelling to Andalucia and learning the moves. Her huband played flamenco guitar live in the classes. I know it's a bit far but it would be worth a trip! Good luck finding something! Jo
  10. I had a great meal at Nirmals on West St in the centre of town. The owners were very friendly and we had a great evening.
  11. When I was househunting in Sheffield, I was appalled that estate agents expect you to pay for your application to rent a property, and this per tenant at rates which can reach 100 pounds. Is this a new practice? Last time I rented through an estate agent was when I was a student and there was none of that.
  12. Hi I'm a big fan of heroes. My boyfriend downloaded all the episodes that have been out in the States. I won't give away the final cliffhanger!
  13. Hi, I suppose I could give it a go. I'm female and I look about 25. I've done a bit of acting before. Even some in Spanish! You could send me a private message if you want to get in touch, Cheers, Jo
  14. I used to teach a revolting boy who would put his hand up to ask a question about his work and then fart on purpose when I came near. He certainly deserved a fine!
