  1. I both know about and have an interest in antiques and collectibles. I have been trading such things in my spare time for 20 years. I would love it if there was anything to the Antiques Quarter other than hype, but sadly that's not the case. There used to be one shop that sold quality stuff on Abbeydale Road, i think it was called Pad or similar. They sold nice Danish mid-century furniture, modernist paintings etc. The bloke who ran it eventually moved on when it was obvious that trying to make a shabby area of Sheffield into Camden was never going to happen. Just look on the Antiques Quarter website, it's 4 shops and a scrapyard that's been there for decades. You can't just get a load of furniture from the tip, paint it in wacky colours and think you've got an antiques shop, as the traders there will eventually learn. Also Meersbrook is not Nether Edge and Walkley is nowhere near Burngreave, look on a map.
  2. Because Walkley is closer to the town and the uni, and Meersbrook is closer to rundown areas like Heeley. As for the Antiques Quarter, it's essentially a small number of what should be charity shops selling tat over an area of about 2 square miles. I'm not sure why you'd think that tea rooms and antiques shops attract young people anyway.
  3. Walkley has been supposedly up and coming for young people for about 10 years. A lot of young people live there (students and ex-students) but in terms of shops, restaurants, things to do, is it hasn't really come on much in that time. It is 10 minutes to town tho and your neighbours will probably be young. I'm talking about the roads just past Commonside and off Howard Road/South Road. It's basically Crookes but with an S6 postcode, so 20% cheaper.
  4. A 3-bed in Crookes in good condition will cost at least £180k. ---------- Post added 31-01-2016 at 00:15 ---------- I think it's fair to say this poster was either joking or trolling by naming the grimmest spots in Sheffield.
  5. The OP is looking for up and coming areas for young people. Handsworth and Woodhouse are both miles out in the sticks and more family/retired people oriented. Obviously you can get a bigger house for your money there.
  6. Always looking backwards, poor spelling and punctuation. That's Sheffield.
  7. I remember him getting owned by Barrera and then making a whole load of excuses about why he lost so badly. Oh yeah, and getting undertaken by him driving his yellow Lambo in the bus lane on Abbeydale Road. Not exactly Muhammad Ali in or out of the ring.
  8. £50 is way too much for a ghost-dog-pacification toy. I can do one for just £30. Also got some magic beans. PM me.
  9. Hotwire I imagine. They didn't get the keys. Thanks for the advice about not accepting the first offer. I'll probably inform my insurance company but not claim for it, unless it does turn up burned out leaving me with a massive recovery fee. I'm still paying very high premiums from the last time my car was stolen 3 years ago.
  10. The excess on my policy and the way insurance companies value old cars means I'll get literally nothing on the insurance, so yeah I'd love to get it back thrashed or not, the alternative being having no car at all.
  11. That's what the police said, they'll inform me if it has been picked up on an ANPR. Personally, I think it's more likely to still be in Sheff somewhere, either burned out or in one of the many dodgy scrapyards in the city. I just want my car back, I'll get nothing off the insurance and replacing a 20 odd year old Corolla is not as easy as it may sound.
  12. My 1992 Corolla was stolen from outside my house in Walkley last night. If anyone has any information on where it might end up (in Sheffield), please message me. The police aren't even interested in investigating at all, just give me a crime number and told me to phone my insurance company.
