  1. Hi, does anyone know the name of the band who played at The Church House in Sheffield on Friday 23rd March? They played classic rock covers and they were great apparently. I'm thinking of seeing if I can hire them. Cheers Lotte
  2. Hiya, has anyone heard of a car boot on Holme Lane (Hillsborough)? Someone told me that there used to be one there and apparently its starting up again but I don't know when or exactly where on Holme Lane... Cheers Joey
  3. I'm presuming that Hillsborough Arena will be on (next to Hillsborough Park), they usually have 100 stalls, really good although I don't know for definite whether its actually on bearing in mind the heavy rain last night... you could always ring to avoid disappointment... I'm just going to go anyway, I'm up now and the walk is good for me!!
  4. Should have thrown an onion bhaji, they would have scattered them!! (Mmmm... onion bhajis... I would have caught it in my mouth!! ) So glad it was all peaceful & showed EDL that many Sheffielders are a welcoming & kind bunch of folks.
  5. Thanks for the heads-up, I will have to go for a look & purchase! When the lovely papercrafts shop on the corner of London Rd/St Marys Gate closed (I forget the name), I got loads of lovely bargains, stuff I wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise. Sad that another craft shop is closing, sign of the times I guess. best wishes, Joey
  6. Hiya, please can anyone tell me whether Tesco Infirmary Rd is on tomorrow (Sun 12th May)? I went last week & didn't think it was that great, got loads of stuff in the past... What did anyone else think to it? Cheers, Joey
  7. Hi and congrats for the new job! The main thing is to let the Jobcentre know as soon as possible that you are starting work - so if you're starting on Monday then ring them on Monday. If you just don't turn up for your next signing day, then your claim will end on your previous signing day. If you ring up to let them know you're starting work then your JSA claim will run right up to the day before you start work. Hope this helps! Good luck with the job!
  8. Definitely agree! There's no need at all to kill them, get rid of them or anything! They are such beautiful, gentle and amazing creatures, just look at how they manage to stay in exactly the same place in the air, they're wonderful animals! And no, it seems the large numbers of them isn't restricted to Yorkshire/Derbyshire, read this forum of the Hoverfly Recording Scheme, they have 'gazillions' of them down south too! http://www.hoverfly.org.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1232 Joey
  9. No thank you, I choose not to give money to people who commit fraud and lie. If you choose to do that, it's up to you but I don't think people should support those who breed mistrust.
  10. True, and could be more, you just don't know. There's plenty of good-hearted people who may be taken for a ride by this woman. She seemed to want to ingratiate herself to me until I had no money to give her. I think a genuine person would have reacted differently to how she did (just walked away).
  11. Hi, I thought I'd make people aware that there is a woman trying to con people out of money, by making them think she has an emergency. On Matilda Street yesterday (Friday) late afternoon (5:30-ish) she approached me, with car keys in hand, and sandy-coloured dog in tow. She asked for my help because she couldn't get her car to start, she had her kids to pick up and was in a hurry and didn't have any change for the bus to Meadowhead. I asked how much she needed, and she said something like £2.40 for her AND fare for her dog! She also asked what sort of day I'd had, which I thought was a bit strange for someone to think to ask when they apparently are in an emergency. I didn't have any change on me so couldn't give her anything. When I got home I told my partner, and he said that he'd been approached by an identical person (the dog, the car keys in hand) with the exact same story, which to me confirms my suspicions that this is a con. I want to warn people that this isn't likely to be a genuine plea for help, so be on your guard. I've posted this because I'd like to live in a Sheffield where people know they can't con others, and if someone were to ask you for money, you'd know that it was a genuine emergency. cheers for reading Joey
  12. I live on City Road. I was out at the time but first I heard was when policeman came to our house on Sunday afternoon and asked if I had been in on Saturday following 'an incident'. How annoying, I missed it all!!
