There are several places which have been on eccy road for a long while and it always seems busy. High turnover isnt an issue as long as the vacant premises get filled quickly.

My personal view is that other cities havent suffered as much as Sheffield from out of town shopping. When Meadowhall opened it was the second biggest out of town shopping centre in the uk, when you combine that with the transport links the draw was massive, Shops located there rather than the city centre so the football increased at the detriment of the city centre.

Because each HGV has a huge impact? Psalter Lane is a residential road with doors and houses opening up onto it. The same just cant be said for Eccy Road. People expect traffic on Eccy Road, they know they have to be careful when they cross or use one of the numerous crossings.

Im not getting the problem here? Eccy Road is a main road designed for a high volume of traffic, its an arterial route into and out of the city, Pslater lane just isnt. Im also struggling the see how people dont think the impact of HGVs on Psalter isnt much greater than the impact of this traffic using Eccy road. Where there are buses every few minutes are a few extra HGVs really noticeable?

Yes and it caused lots of disruption and a drop in passenger numbers. The rail is only part of the infrastructure, everything else needs replacing as well. The rail was just the first thing to go. So the choices going forward are piecemeal maintenance as and when, a major overhaul of the system (which is what the money is needed for) or the tram system being mothballed and replaced with nice buses. When you consider what happened in Leeds, where they couldnt make a business case for a new tram system stack up it does make you wonder about the future of the Supertram.

I think the point is that having a drink isnt the only reason to go to pub. There are plenty of times when i go to the pub and dont have a drink, and there are plenty of times when i go to places which arent my choice. I dont not go because i dont like the drink/ food that would be childish.
