  1. good luck Ghozer.. shame it came to this.

I do feel moderation has been a little too zealous since the buyout.I had a post deleted after stating halfway through it that  "non legit version of windows 7 updated to 10 just fine" .. that was it, gone. I wasnt saying how to do it, where to get it or anything like that, just answering a question... and Bam.... I'm apparently discussing illegal activities.     Bit keen on the censorship there I thought.....

  2. I keep looking at upgrading but tbh, my rig is still playing all the AAA games with very few issues. Its only recently I have had a game simply not work due to the cpu ( Detroit Become Human)

Mine is i5 4675k, 32gb of ddr3 ram and a RTX 2070super. I play all my games on a 65inch 4k tv at high to ultra settings without to many issues.  ( i refuse to play at 1080p anymore.. its so blurry when compared to 4k! ) I get the odd stutter but not enough to justify a new rig.  The biggest change you can make is the gfx card, ( which is its own issue in todays market! ) but thats where I would be starting.....

  3. I love aliexpress... spent waaaay to much money on there ( at leat 100 orders) but always do you due diligence.

Had a 100% delivery success and with  one order that I had an issue with, (cpu cooler with a 3 pin fan instead of a 4 pin) was refunded to the amount of a new fan within hours of submitting.

Only negative is delivery time. Dont expect it to arrive in a week... For me in Australia its average between 2- 4 weeks.

A little hint.  Go browsing and add stuff to your cart but dont buy it. You get notification when its on sale and you can get a better price on it. ( aliexpress is ALWAYS having sales run)  sometimes I have stuff sat in my cart for months and usually end up with a 30% off sale at some point!

"the Linux shop"?  Never heard of a Linux shop.  Where is that?

    online.. www.thelinuxshop.co.uk

As for the Op, you dont run linux within w10 (  yes I know you actually can but im pretty confident in this case that isnt whats needed) You need to boot to the live CD at startup of  the machine. Usually keep spamming f8 until a boot list appears.

If you agree to the ads, then it's most likely storing a cookie on your system. If you clear cookies every time you close or restart Firefox (I avoid Firefox so I don't know if this is an option or not) then it'll ask you every time you go to Google and it looks for a cookies on your system that doesn't exist.

    it is indeed an option....

3 bars top right> options> Privacy & Security and scroll a little down to find the cookies etc options.

Unusual of a Samsung to update though without the user initiating it.

depends if it was set to do it at a quiet time... and without knowing what the 'jibbersh' is we can only speculate.

If it had a little android displayed then rebuilt the apps.. it was an update.

  7. just download the latest creation tool and update. no need for external media to load it onto first.  ( theres always a risk with major updates but MS have got a lot better in that area of updating )

also once updated and everything running well, run the disk cleanup tool as an administrator and remove the old version of windows ( will free up 20gb or so) with the caveat that you cant roll it back once you do.

I'll give you one thing swarf, you certainly keep trying. A tad OTT to get remote desktop.

its not OTT, Its the linux way! lol

would love to understand the thinking on how changing to linux just to use RDP ( which is already native on the machine the OP is using ) to solve the issue.

  9. as above really. If they are all on the same network in different rooms, RDP is great,  in the same room, KVM switch is the way I would do it.

Without getting to complicated for access away from the network, teamviewer does the job.

Then you get into enterprise stuff.. I run software from Itarian at work and that gives me everything from mobile device control and monitoring to remote desktop access, monitoring of systems, batch device update control and a support ticket system.  Anything computer related is registered in 2 offices and controllable from anywhere I am.... current have 56 devices run this way including 3 machines located in the Philippines and I was lucky to start using this system before they started charging for it.  unfortunately im only scratching the surface of what it can do as im not a network administrator....  just a guy that likes computers at work. lol

  10. how long does a cmos battery last....... years.

laptops usually have access panels underneath, pop them off and have a look.  doesnt sound like thats the issue though. As others have said, need a bit more as a black screen could be anything...

does it try to boot? does it boot with a power cord in? what was the cause for the overheating etc etc
