I actually agree that people who have never worked and continue to have children should be stopped some benefits or not given more. Same with people who don't have kids and have never done a days work. People think it's easy to claim benefits and yes it is - I wonder how many people suffer alcoholism so can't work but continue to sit in the pub all day laughing at hard working people. I think this whole thread sums up the contempt people have for the scroungers of this world and genuine people who find themselves on hard times do suffer because nine out of 10 there not actually failing below the threshold to receive benefits of any kind but are left wondering how there going to feed the kids and pay for the bills which as someone posted before are normally 12 month contracts (we would cancel sky, broadband, and land line but no point as we still have 6 months left so would have to pay a fine or withdrawal penalty anyway).

:clap: What a wonderful idea however my other halve has a better paid job than me as the simple fact is she has worked hard to get where she is. I think she would love to stay at home all day and be a house wife but then saying that I would love to be a house husband unfortunately due to the cost of living 2 incomes are needed to survive.

Your post sums up the system - still not sure who she should be claiming from or where - Job Centre Local Council HMRC. When people find themselves in this position it would be a lot easier for everyone if it was one system dealing with the whole thing this would also in my opinion cut down on fraudulant claims as it would be one system working at the same speed.

Who is this aimed at and please tell me what job? - the op has children so some jobs are limited (childcare required - plus paying for said childcare means minimum wage is out of the question) do they get in line behind the other 2 million unemployed in this country?
-
Still a load of tripe when I chose to have children I was in a position to be financially secure and could quite happily afford them however due to no fault of my own but some global phenomenon called a "global recession" (not many forumers would ever remember a Global recession) I find myself in a position where we are struggling. Now tell me do I send my child back and ask my wife to terminate at 30 odd weeks as we can't afford it. Does everyone need to miss out on the joy that children can bring because some people just don't like them and 3rd world countries don't know the meaning of birth control. We waited to have children I am no young chav never having worked both my wife and I have worked for nearly 20 years before deciding to have kids I am 40 and my wife wife is 35 so it wasn't something we jumped into. I pray you never find yourself in a position to be out of work for whatever reason.

I think part of what the op is saying is how long it takes to get sorted. The original post has presumably been living like you describe but maybe she was quite well off for whatever reason she is now in a position to need help to either stay out out of poverty. Why does it take so long to deal with it? If she is paying rent to a private landlord how long will he wait for his rent if it was me I wouldn't want to wait 6/10/12 weeks to be paid would you if it was your business suffering - what happens then your happy to see someone turfed out on the street because she should get of her backside and get a job with how many million unemployed? - Lets not forget pay for the child care which if she is lucky her child will be 3 years old and get free places (wonder how many employers would be happy for someone to do 15 hours a week (16 to claim tax credits) but have all school holidays off as there only free during term time!

What a complete and utter load of tripe you spout! How can anyone have financial security forever. Before we had kids we used to go away 3 times a year go out when we wanted etc and had a very comfortable life then we had a child and yes we were still well off managed to go abroad etc. My wife has a very well paid job which she loves but we decided she would go part time because again why have children if your doing 40 hours a week at work etc. Anyway in the last 6 months we have found out that we will be having another baby however the current economic situation has resulted in me keeping my job by the skin of my teeth (4 rounds of redundancy since Christmas). but we are on 4 days. We don't get a penny in hand outs still pay the mortgage and bills etc but we do struggle and my daughter may not get a birthday present (we are lucky she is only young) - and before you all start buy what you can afford maybe something should be done about blatant advertising forced on kids then they wouldn't want X Boxes, Play Stations etc. To top it off we also pay £275 per month in childcare because I don't know if and when I will be back on 5 days. Friends who were unlucky in the last round of redundancy also don't get any real help one guy get the Job Seekers but doesn't pay his mortgage, his daughter was in nursery again paying about £200 but this is no longer covered as he isn't working. Fine agree with that but how can someone look for work with a 2 year old in tow - how can you concentrate in the job centre whilst looking let alone be available for interview. It's not easy and not everyone is on the take - maybe if the whole system was reviewed and people who had never had a job were made to do voluntary work to get benefits or even people on medical benefits were made to do something even someone coming to the house to do something with them it people would feel a little less hostile to genuine people who find themselves in a down right horrible position.

Wisewood/Myers merger thread - Part 3
Super Frank replied to The Manager's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
No I don't think people are interested in the merger more what tosh the 7 or so people will come out with who actually post on this thread and repeat the same bull over and over again to get it bumped up. About time the thread got closed and closed for good this time. -
Don’t know if anyone can help but would appreciate it if you can. I bought a second hand pc which had been completely wiped - when you plugged it in it was a plank screen so I had to load Windows etc which I have done. We couldn’t get the internet working through wireless until we realised the driver or wireless card had also been deleted - anyway we have reinstalled the wireless card etc and had the pc working but the screen resolution was completely out. My nephew has since been messing around trying to sort it and now we have a complete nightmare. When you log on the system is asking you to choose either Windows 2000 or XP if you choose 2000 it asks for the product key which we don’t have because we don’t think we have installed this (messing with so many disc trying to fix it - anyway we don’t have the key code so that’s no good). If you go to XP it looks like it is logging in but then is a complete blank screen just black doesn’t even go into windows. My though would be to wipe the hard drive and start again or is it us doing something wrong any help or advice would be very much appreciated. BTW now got the visual card so can sort the screen hopefully if we can ever get it working.

May need to change my original post as the school in questions is Loxley School. Thanks to everyone who posted however I am still unsure about the whole thing. As a p’post said some children who live on the outskirts for secondary schools could get shafted completely. If this is something that effects and area for junior schools am I being naive in thinking that it will not effect my daughters secondary school options. Yes it is a long way off but when we had our daughter several key factors were taking into account when we decided to move one was being closer to family another was that we managed to get a very good price on a house within catchments for very good schools (Loxley/Bradfield) it is also a very nice area in which to bring up a family. Someone in a pp comments on expected drops in numbers I am sure I have read somewhere that when numbers are worked out it is expected that there will be a drop of approx 300 especially in primary schools this isn’t a huge number across a city the size of Sheffield. My concern is if the council can do what they did with Wisewood and Myers which school will be next what will the next round of closures bring? All parents in the area are at risk of not getting there children into the closest school. Before I get the no one has a right to go to x school etc comments it will be more economical/environmentally friendly etc for my daughter to go to the local school as it will mean I can walk to pick her up and instead of sponging of the state work more hours instead of spending 2 hours a day on buses or 1 hour in the car going out of my way picking her up.

I would like to ask a question regarding predicted school numbers. Before anyone asks or tries to merge this thread it has nothing to do with the Wisewood/Myers stuff it is a completly different issue. My daughter will start school (I think) 2011 and the other day I was told that the local school has places for approx (say 35 kids) in catchment to date there will be 40+ due the start the same time. How can I find out if this is correct and how would places be granted is it first come first served - other Children at the school - closest - alphabetically? I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how I can find out.

The Myers Grove - Wisewood schools merge debate
Super Frank replied to Umeeksk's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I think a quick update on what is going on with this thread would be very useful and give people who have just started posting up to date facts. I am not aware of all the facts however I do know that the communities surrounding both schools have been lead down the garden path and lied to by the council. A quick summary as I understand it is the local council have decided in there wisdom to close a very good school with sufficient student numbers to help a falling school which is also seeing a drop in numbers. The council lied to the public my stating so many millions worth of funding would be lost if the schools weren’t merged. Not only are the council closing a good school they have done so without considering the whole north west area of Sheffield and have pitched communities against each other. To top it all off the real icing on the cake for me is the increase in traffic due to hit the Malin Bridge area not only has a contract been awarded to build the new school but the same contractor has been given the job of conducting a study on the effects of increased traffic etc (not sure someone would try and put themselves out job). -
Nice to see Cyclone around on the parenting bored again instead of the other controversial threads. I agree that it is very annoying when some fat lazy slob parks in a p&c parking space just to normally nip to the bank (also located near the cash machine) however there is no way this will ever be enforced through the courts. Cyclone does make a good point that all spaces should be wide enough for people with children and disabilities but unfortunately like everything in today’s society we continue to overcrowd (housing, education and health). As for heavily pregnant people using the spaces well so they should they are a P&C at the end of the day.

If you don't get anywhere with your normal health professionals go see the ones at the Palgrave Centre they are realy nice and will discuss these issues with you. My daughter had Reflux but not that bad we still have sessions where she projectile vomits but you get used to it.
