  1. There's an Addon called Lightening you can add to Thunderbird https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/lightning/ not used it for a while myself as I prefer Google calendar but it did the trick
  2. Hi Guys, I'm wanting to upgrade my Talktalk router to a netgear n600 or similar as i need / would like gigabit Ethernet ports to better my media setups performance. I have been told in theory any modem router should work as its the standard bt connections, but prior to having Talktalk i lived in a virgin media area so had their specified cable modem as you couldn't change it. Does anyone know if switching the router is that simple? cheers
  3. Thanks so much the router sees in now as a DNS 320. ~Just need to get it to show as a drive now and in windows!
  4. Hi Guys, I have recently obtained a NAS drive which i believe to be working, however it is not recognised as an Ethernet attached device in the router settings. I have tried the D-link website and various forums, although assistance is provided when the computer doesn't see the NAS there's nothing that I can see in relation to the router not seeing the Drive. NAS is a D-Link DNS-320L Any ideas?

  6. Customers sometimes just want to speak to someone. I wouldn't automatically dismiss it as stupidity or ignorance. The manner in which you reply to a phone call / email can be the difference between gaining a client or losing one. For me personally the customer service a company offers is just as important if not more so than their website and product lists. Just like meeting someone in the street it's that contact that tells you if you like a person or not.
  7. I wish they would make their minds up! I use default quality so retain resolution and image but I do drop the audio to 2 channel to help save a little disk space files end up 1-2gb depending on length, It's only for personal use and I don't have a surround system or have room for one so surround sound is not necessary for me. Plus many of the films in my collection pre-date it.
  8. Thanks for that Gillybear, That seems just the ticket to get me started, Id prefer to connect it to the router by wire myself. Do you find that the Roku can handle all media types? I'm currently using Handbrake to re-encode my collection and i have the choice of Mp4 & Mkv preferring the latter where possible. Cheers, Steve
  9. Hi Guys, I have recently moved back to Sheffield and in to a 2 bedroom flat. I have also brought with me around 2000 dvds, and have boxes everywhere. I have started to convert my dvd collection to MP4 and an streaming to my TV via PS3 media centre. However I have already filled a 2TB hard drive, and have little expansion left in my PC. So I have been looking towards moving to a NAS / Media server with 3-5 bays so that I can upgrade as and when I need to. I guess my question is How do you stream your video files to your TV without the need of the PC? Is there a receiver that is required?

  11. Hi Guys, I am wanting to rot a few deeper river stretches this year. My current longest rod is 14ft which is ok untill I need to go deeper I'm looking for a rod of 15ft + to use with light lines and a centerpin. Seen lots of nice rods on ebay such as the Map Parabollix and Dave Harrell Rods but don't want to go in and buy one blind. I usually fish for silvers with mainlines of 4.5lb max and hook lengths 1.5-3lb depending on conditions. Can anyone recommend a decent rod in this size range for my £100 budget new or used. Cheers, Steve
  12. Invasion of the body snatchers? Not exactly a movie but I was terrified by the original Day of the Triffids, saw it when I was about seven really freaked me out as our garden had 3 huge greenhouses and large flowers everywhere!
  13. Legends never Die, As a 37yr old I really only started to appreciate blues about 2 yrs ago. Recently watched an old Crossroads event on VH1 and BB King was part of it, so wished I'd been there.

  16. Thanks guys, that's what I was thinking in regards to a new rod. But Charlie, I think you hit the nail on the head. This was my first ever, what I call first "real" fishing rod I got it with money earned washing about 300 cars when was 12! So I think I owe it the rebuild, the blank itself is pretty much mint. There are a couple of damaged eyes so I think I would probably replace the whole set. The OCD in me would never be happy if 2 didn't match exactly with the rest!
  17. Hi guys, I have an old 80s Shakespeare Mach 2 Boron 12ft splice tip match rod. I have been using this for canal, river and pond fishing for years. However over the last 2 or 3 seasons i have noticed the whippings getting worse and worse to the point that i noticed a couple of the eyes were moving last time I used it. The fast spliced tip makes the rod an absolute joy to use especially with ultra light hook lengths and mainlines. I have been looking at replacement rods and most these days seem to be built to cater for use on commercials with no signs of spliced tips, and to be honest I prefer finesse fishing for roach & bream. I have been quoted £70 for a complete rebuild including updating the real fittings to the Fuji type. Before I spend this kind of money can someone suggest a modern rod for 70-100 that has a nice fast action ideal for silvers on canals and small ponds. Cheers
  18. Hi It's an independent, but long established with a good reputation. ---------- Post added 01-10-2014 at 05:52 ---------- Thanks I will get him to, speak to the dealer first and if no joy take it to TS, unfortunately he's the kind of guy that doesn't like to make a fuss. But I think he needs too in this case!
  19. Hi, My friend purchased a used Ford Focus from a Sheffield dealership (avoiding private sales) back in January. around 2 months ago he started having to pay for a lot of engine repairs and this week the car finally packed in. The car was sold to him with 82,000 miles on the clock so he believed he would have a few years out of it traveling to work and back (less than 6 miles a day) However on inspection at a garage he has been advised that the car has been clocked and has more like 174,000 miles on the clock. Does he have any rights to get the dealership to either sort a new engine or replace the car?
  20. Thanks Charlie, I guess i will take a drive up, If the lure fishing's no good i will take a few worms down to the lower Loxley and catch a few trout on the weirs. that's always fun with light tackle
  21. "sorry for the typo in the title god knows what I was Thinking!" Hey Guys I'm back up in Sheffield this weekend and I fancy trying the Flask for the first time in about 10 years. I plan to take only lure tackle and finally net myself one of the monster perch, failing that a pike or 2 would be welcome! Anyone lure fished for perch specifically on the flask? got any tips on the types of lure they hit? Also what are the water levels like at the moment the last time I fished they were very low and the bay was like a beach! Cheers, Steve
  22. Too right, taking fish is killing our sport
