  1. No 1 carpman said "Like i said i do not know the law on part worn tyres but i think they have to be marked part worn and in a way so it can be easily seen". This in itself is rather silly,as in the description it clearly is a "part worn tyre" so doesnt need to be marked as such does it? Selling part worn tyres has never been illegal like some say,it is a way for people on a low budget to keep their cars on the road. You can always buy a new one,but if it means paying around £100 each then its always good to have a plan B. Cheers,Craig.
  2. Right, just to clear things up i have today checked the V10 form (Application For Tax Disc) It states the documents you need are; V5c or new keepers details (V5c/2) Valid Insurance Certificate or cover note (not policy schedule, renewal notice or receipt). The certificate MUST cover liability to third parties and be valid for when the tax disc comes into force, and show that it covers the vehicle you are taxing. A valid MOT certificate. It then states the following; "All documents must be originals, not photo copies or faxed copies. HOWEVER,downloaded insurance certificates WILL BE ACCEPTED". This is good news for me because i can get time off work and take my print off certificate, and not have to wait upto 21 days for the posted details to arrive. The above is fact,i have read them today because i am taxing my car as PLG because the previous owner had it registered as disabled,so it has to be done at the local DVLA office. Hope this clears up the mixed info on previous posts. Cheers,Craig. ---------- Post added 13-05-2013 at 20:08 ---------- That probably is true, and apart from the taxing hassle, these cars can be very good bargains. Usually low millage with full service history, but the condition of the mechanics will depend on the drivers disability i would think. Cheers,Craig.
  3. Bloody great, ive just bought one that is classed as disabled, ive got the V5C/2 new keeper bit of the logbook and was hoping to goet it taxed tomorrow!!! I have no chance now as i work 12 hour days. Lesson learned i suppose, but the car was a bargain.
  4. Oh dear. Never nice when you find out you have paid well over the odds, but at least its sorted now. Ive been there done that got the T shirt, times a thousand.lol PS,there is a Laguna Owners Group on Facebook,i saw it yesterday and might be joining, could get a discount on insurance, every little helps.
  5. Only if you own a Vespa GT.lol ---------- Post added 11-05-2013 at 23:36 ---------- Seems everybody now thinks a classic car was made in 1989,WRONG with a capitol W.lol Only joking, but there are so many different opinions of "classic car" so why not sub divide the threads to 50s/60s /70s classics etc? My dream classic by the way is a 1965 Vespa GS160 ......omg.. its sexier than Jenifer Aniston in latex.
  6. Try Ebay,i was on today cos ive just bought a Laguna, and the card could do with being replaced,it only costs about a tenner to do,. Reprogramming a card costs around hundred quid and they come to you. Might be cheaper elsewhere ,but i saw the adverts on Ebay, and just letting you know its an option. Good luck.
  7. Google "Sheffield VW Owners Club",they are one of the oldest clubs in existance, and are well up on any issues you might have. Good luck,i loved the Scirocco Mk2 but only from afar, never got round to owning it as my real first love was the Beetle. I think the club members still go to the Carbrook pub on Tuesday nights, why not pop in for a chat with the crew?
  8. My Dad worked at Wigfalls, must be late 60s early 70s not sure though cos he went bus driving and was doing that for many a year. Anybody know Dave Bennett?
  9. Why not try the places on Trippet Lane, there are some nice eateries down there, just ring them and ask,as i think most only open in the evening, but im sure they would jump at the chance of your custom and cash.
  10. I think my Great Grandfather was at Maltby Grammer,i know he was living there around that time, although he did move to Brinsworth. His name is John Neatby, and had a daughter called Margarie.Anybody know of him?? Craig.
  11. Is this true about buses topping at stops any amount of time? As an ex bus driver we were always told to stop ONLY to pick up and set down passengers, then move away. I was once told to move away from the old Crucible stop, which i always presumed was a layby, which meant park for however long.It was a copper on a bike who said i was causing abstruction, and had to move,no matter what time i was due to leave. Not arguing with you ocifer, but what about cars parked on pavements around Burngreave,Page Hall etc,or the van outside the shop on Abbydale road that has been there all morning,in a no parking zone???At least i was at a designated stop.
  12. I have to agree with other people on here. If your using the bike illegaly,as in no tax, insurance, cbt or mot, then tough, you gambled by using it on the road,or in a field, and you got caught.TUFF. Put another way,if you have kids and one was run over,or seriuosly injured by a car driver who didnt have a licence, you would call the police, right? THey are there to uphold the law,and they do it under pressure, and for little money. They are the good guys.
  13. For anybody who thinks CB is dead,it aint.If you can tune into 27.555 (sidebanding)There will be quite a few locals on air, wherever you are if the conditions are right. And just like the good old days, its illegal to use this frequency,BUT LOADS OF FUN. I (ERRMMM sorry officer,my friend, lol) have had contact with many people the world over, litterally, inc USA,Turkey,Iceland,Corfu Island. Depends a lot on the scientific conditions to how far your signal travels, but its still a cheep form of communications, once you have your station set up,its just a case of using electricity really. Im sure some people already know this anyway, but if not give it a go,radios are quite cheep pre owned (Try Ebay,or Knighs Electrocom web site) There are millions of users throughout the world who are sidebanding, and probably started on good old CB radios. Im lucky really cos im mobile (sorry officer,my friend is) and can use my radio 12 hours a day, passing the time, and gaining friends all over the world at the same time.
  14. Still there as far as i know, runs from just above the chippy. Do you remember the fishing tackle shop just below chippy?
  15. I was wondering if anybody can remember my grand parants,it would be great if you have any memories to share with me. My grand mother and father (on moms side) were Madge and Arthur Gill, who worked as a pair at both Wordsworth Tavern, and Fighting **** pubs at one time or another. And also a club in Wortley, while theire house was been "done up" due to subsidence. My grand father (Dads side) Ernest Bennett was drummer with Ecclesfield Silver Prize Band, and i inherited his snare drum, which was quite unique as it was pigskin cover. Does anybody have any memories to share??
