  1. that won't really help the employees will it
  2. 250 in sheffield is accurate...... Employees should be able to see the full communication on the employee intranet site that gives a lot more detailed information than the newspapers.
  3. the announcement was leaked to the press at 8.30pm last night. The original communication plan would have meant that employees should have heard before press announcements. but due to some money grabbing individual who sold their story to the papers - this was not the case. There are some job losses in sheffield - 250 all together..... but hopefully not through redundancy.
  4. just comeback from holiday - and can;t access my yahoo email account. I normally log onto yahoo.co.uk, type in my email address and password etc. with no problems, but today the screen takes ages to load and then errors out ? Has anyone else had problems with yahoo or bt email today ? I downloaded some updates for Zone Alarm package this morning - could this have caused me some problems ? Also did a spybot check and deleted some cookies ? Can anyone suggest any thing else i could try ?
  5. There are lots (and i mean lots!) of different brands, options, bells and whistles and a wide range of prices. I presume that, as with anything, the more you pay the better it will be. But which functions are a must have... What are the 'recommended' brands...... Which are good value for money.... Any advice appreciated....
  6. They used to do 8 week basic beginner courses at the deaf social club on psalter lane. not sure if they still do....
  7. what a great way to describe her - I think the name really suits her!
  8. I'm sat in work right now - looking out of the window onto eccelsall road - and nothing - not a single flake.....
  9. what are the clues - maybe the forum can help guess!
  10. we had a rat in the garden last year - we got rid of it by cutting of its food source so that it went elsewhere for tea. It was feeding on the seeds dropped by the birds from the bird table - changed the bird food to a block instead of open seeds for a while - problem solved.
  11. My sister does commissions like this - and doesn't charge alot of money as it's her hobby.
  12. Thanks for the reply retep. I imagine you in a room somewhere surrounded by mountains of old directories - just waiting for an excuse to rattle through them!!!! Arthur potts is not my relative so........... the plot thickens.
  13. Thank you for your replies. I spent a few hours looking through picture sheffield.co.uk last night to see if I could track anything down. no such luck yet - But the 'target' pub sounds an interesting link. The Haigh Tree was not quite the right house number. Maybe they didn;t live at the pub!!!
  14. can anybody help with this ??? address is 45 park hill lane in 1910
  15. Hi Peterw, Nothing to do with the comedian you speak of - sorry. My nick name was given to me by my school friends based on my real name and my habit of doing silly things. e.g. - Doing silly dares like - running through a fire station to nick a firemans helmet. Than later running back in to give it back! - Twisting my ankle trying to climb a flagpole - and ending up in casualty, where i fell off the bed and sprained my wrist.... too many to mention really ----but loopylou has stuck with me even though I am now very sensible and would never dream of doing such silly things.....
  16. A relative of mine listed their occupation as publican and address as 45 park hill lane. (1910) Did they live at the pub they owned ?? Can anyone point me in the direction of a website/records that would help determine if this is the case? picture sheffield shows two establishments on park hill lane Park Gardners Club & Haigh Tree Inn. Would it be either of these ? Hope you knowledgable forummers can help me. Loopylou
  17. I'd like to vote for Mr Pope, Charnock Middle school. A truly inspirational man, who is unfortunately no longer with us. He gave kids enthusiasm for learning in the classroom and for the outdoors, with regular hiking and camping trips. R.I.P
  18. Anything introduced my sara cox. I swap radio stations at least three times every journey, If the song that comes on is not to my taste I go hopping stations for something I do like. I only have to hear sara cox whining and it;s enough to make me bypass radio 1, without waiting to hear what the next track is.
  19. My dog farts ! and then he looks around as if to blame everybody else in the room except him !
  20. i used to wear contacts - but had laser surgery in march of this year and now have 20/20 vision. so i voted NEVER !!! (well - I'll probably have to wear glassess for reading when I'm older............ )
  21. there is currently no dates for manchester on the official website.... just glasgow 1st sept, leeds 9th sept & london on 14th & 15th. prices for standing are £45 & £49 not sure about the seats..... loopylou.

  23. Hey hey hey !!!!!!!!!! I've just bought my robbie tickets - for roundhay park on 9th sept -
  24. I thought it was great - we bought lots of stuff - a pheasant, some wild boar sausage - some herb cheese, some almond sweet thingies and some fudge. Yes some of it was more expensive that the supermarkets - but I know from past experience - it will all taste very very nice. Plus the traders are all really nice people - up for a chat and willing to let you taste and try before you buy. The only thing that bugged me this time was the 50 (at least) students selling poppies. I must have been asked about 100 times to 'buy' a poppy. a) you don;t 'buy' poppies - you make a donation b) I was already wearing one ! - duh!
