  1. I think it depends on the individual child to be honest. different kids mature at different ages. So one persons 10 year old daughter may be mature and responsible enough to make the decision and keep it clean afterwards. The only person who can reasonably know whether the person can cope or not are the parents who know them well. So i think it is down to parental/personal choice.
  2. can you remember quality street chocolates - but sold in a bar. all the favourite chocolates fused together in a bar that you had to break up ? or did i dream this ??
  3. willman came to see me and hubby and was very pleasent etc. unfortunately the supplier he uses for document production are rubbish. the wills took over 6 months to turn up and had to be constantly chased throughout this time and when they finally arrived they were wrong (and i mean very wrong, they would have not stood up in court). i ended up re-typing them myself following free advice from a legal friend.
  4. there is a picture on http://www.picturesheffield.co.uk http://www.picturesheffield.com/cgi-bin/picturesheffield.pl?_cgifunction=form&_layout=picturesheffield&keyval=sheff.refno=t03321 has anybody got a more up to date one ?
  5. don;t go there - they are rubbish - they made a right mess of putting my hair up last year - it collapsed before i reached the car.
  6. It's called the credit crunch. i would imaging lots of people want to sell to them at the moment and not enough people want to buy. if they keep handing money out and not get any back.. then wont last very long will they !
  7. mum's on talk talk - having an absolute 'mare at the moment. her line has gone completely and they want to charge her £150 to come and 'look' at it !
  8. the reduction in overall numbers in call centres is happening both in india and in the uk. the numbers are reducing because over half the business is now done online rather than people phoning up for quotes. it is a change in the way people buy their insurance that has led to the job cuts this time - not a decision to cut costs or move more jobs to india. I am sorry for those that received the news today - it must have been a real shock. hopefully as one door closes another one will open - good luck.
  9. Hi, does anyone know the name of the new italian restaurant that is where the mash house used to be on devonshire street. cheers
  10. not quite the same. but my dog often comes in from the garden - with slugs stuck to his belly. THey then drop off in the kitchen - to be stepped on later by an unsuspecting member of the family urgh!!!!! luckily they have never made it upstairs to the bedroom and the dog is NOT allowed on the bed... phew...
  11. we have had a few probs like this over the last couple of weeks. I think there is a transmitter problem somewhere as the signal has suddenly got a lot weaker on channel 4 too.
  12. i'd second that - just got back from sunday lunch at the phoenix - very nice and a good wine selection too. now i'm off for an afternoon snooze !
  13. the sofas and pizzas are nice. Some friends and I had a really good night of nattering in there the other night.
  14. i heard the gig is cancelled - so keep your tickets and you should be able to get a refund.

  16. i thought alex higgins was dead ! (glad he isn't)
  17. it's so good to hear from people who have actually heard of thunder. Most people haven;t and look at a me a bit weird...
  18. alredy got my thunder ticket ! Going to see whitesnake too.
  19. yes - I have hired from pronuptua before. They have lots of dresses in all different sizes... but some have seen better days. If you have a good look through the rack there are some nice ones in there. About £50 plus insurance last time I hired one.
  20. was the other car a new one or an old banger? the latest insurance scam is to buy an old banger, insure it, then run into the back of someone, then claim off their own insurance. The cost of repair is usually more than the car is worth and the insurance company pay out a lump sum and scrap the car.
  21. are there still ducks and swans at hilsbrough park - there used to be when i was a kid ! if not - rother valley country park is a good one - with a cafe aswell to boot!
  22. my uncle alan jepson did most of the original carpentry work to build all the old shops and facias. I walked passed the other day, but couldn't bring myself to go in- as it wouldn;t be the same for me without him there to show me around. But on a lighter note - i recommend this to anyone else to go and have a look. Its all run by volunteers and is very very interesting
