  1. sending photos to tabloid newspaper editors. boy did I earn my petrol money that night!
  2. the OP requested info on barnsley, is based in sheff. there are a few of us northern immigrants here you know . .. . . (awaits post on anti immigration.....)
  3. look out susie! he'll pm you to tell you you're a sicko!
  4. there's some nice old buildings in the town centre(town hall), and you get a nice view down the hillside if you sit in the upper tier of the East stand at Oakwell.
  5. how do you know the local majority would like a tesco on their doorstep? have you conducted a poll?? there is everything you need in this area already, whatever you cant get, and would probably not be avalable in a small tesco as proposed, is available down at the infirmary road branch.
  6. yeah it is supply and demand, but tesco operate at a huge advantage as a global retailer and can pretty much choose where they want to open a store and through their vast buying power undercut local retailers. as there is a tesco around half a mile away on infirmary road, this just smacks of wanting to corner the local market. dont get me wrong, i do my 'bigshop' at tesco, but frequent the local independant shops for the other bits and bobs. and the proposed location would exacerbate traffic problems on an already busy junction. a tesco here would offer no more than is available at the moment.
  7. levvitts on south road are open till ten, the shop on barber road is open till about the same, dram shop similar, all you need basically is already there and open late, even sundays, and if you get really desperate the garage in crookes is open 24hours. so the opening times and convenience are not an issue, its just tesco tryng to muscle in again.
  8. put em on ebay, anywhere in town that buys cds will rip you off, if you put em on ebay you can get an ok price for em and then charge way over the odds for postage like most sellers do
  9. yeah i know, i meant if the council granted the planning permission
  10. no it doesnt make sense, but then sheffield city council and sense rarely go hand in hand
  11. yeah, it would have to be a reet little un, unless it was somewhere else??? the only other site i can think of is the car park that belongs to the jewellers?? which would be daft as there would be even less places to park. hmmm
  12. just trying to picture where it would be?? would it be the site on the corner that used to be the petrol station a few years ago and is presently a patch of rubble?? now im not a rabidly anti-tesco person, but i dont feel this would enhance the area, the extra traffic and cars would make what is already a busy junction even more so and there are already, as the OP stated, some convenience stores in this area (netto, levitts, the other one opposite the off license on south road, the dram shop, the one near the rajput, and down barber road another convenience store, the veggie shop and not forgetting the little sainsburys at the bottom of crookesmoor road, not to mention the numerous ones in crookes?
