  6. Hi crusty bread,how come you had Mr Moss on your 1st yr photo and we got MrHarrison? I remember a few of those names from my 2nd yr with the music man.Was Terry Cupitt from Darnall? As for lurpak ...nofats! I wish
  7. Hi CB,I don't remember the names of the 4 busts on Glasby's windowsill, but I did hear some years later that they had been flushed down the toilet causing a blockage!!

Hi crustybread,I always think of lurpak when I read that!yes very sad about Tony he was in hie thirties I think when he died, I do recall Linda also.As I said earlier I was in Mr Moss's class but for some reason my 1st yr photo has Mr Harrison on.Your French is quite good! Some of the antics Roy got upto are quite memorable!Can you recall some of the names on your 1st year photo? I was in Glasby's class in my 2nd yr, when he used to play Findels cave he used to roar ,'can you hear the water(sea) just rushing in, can you?' I once took a Paul Robeson record he thought it was Xmas.

Hi crusty bread,I remember Tony Curtis very well he lived on James St,and Roy Hattersley too we used to meet up around the Poole Rd area weekends etc,I Know that Tony has been dead sometime now and I believe Roy has also passed away,(if not I'm sure I'll soon be corrected), I remember Miss Wade very nice.

Hi,pd,when I started my first year in 1954, I was in the room at the bottom of 'pops' stairs and it was Mr Moss with a beard etc.I believe Mr Harrison was is in the next room and that bloody Mrs Fairest was in the 'huts',Mr Glasby was in the room at the top of the opposite stairs that went down to Dolly Hardwicks lab.I recall one friend that went up to Pops for a telling off,she came down with one of his thistles stuck to her back.
  12. Yes I remember that wedding well, me and Mum were late getting there and we were in the porch as the bride was waiting to go down tha aisle,we got one of her famous glares that I got rather used to over the years!
  13. yes, I went to Whitby Road from 1947-1952 in the infants I remember Miss Bee, Mrs Grafton and the head Miss Gebbard what a tyrant! in the juniors @ the annex I remember Miss Nicholson who became Mrs Longden,and again in the seniors,Miss Barber and Miss Sarson who was wonderful,Miss Clarke was the head.The boys were upstairs and the head was Mr Saxton. Does anyone recall the shower block with carbolic soap!!!
  14. Sammy Dodds lived in the large terraced villas on P.O.W.Rd which is now Davy's car park, used to wear a 'mac' and a bowler hat.He used to go into Darnall and High Hazels talking to all the children or trying to.

  17. I lived on Pearce Rd too! Do I know you parsley diva? I went to acres hill on the 1st day of opening in the 3rd&4th years jnr. We used to play in the old barn on the end of Mather rd swinging on the ropes,'til the police came then we'd run like the clappers thru' the nettles!
  18. Mr Moss was my 1st year tutor and very nice too, Mr Hook I think taught french also.
