  1. Is that the wedding shop? I think I know where you mean. Thanks for that. What is the big magnet shop? where is that?
  2. Where can I get edible glitter from? Hope someone can help! Thanks.
  3. I think the council have done a marvellous job. Myself and a big group of friends have had plans to go to Birmingham this weekend that have been arranged for months. It was looking very bleak this week. But main roads are clear and we arent going to lose out on all the cash we have spent. I have walked to work all this week, some times it has meant setting off at 4am. I was very happy that for a couple of those days I could walk on the edge of completely clear main roads. My street has tons of snow but grit wagons cant be expected to manouvere round every tiny, double parked street. No doubt that most of the drivers moaning about not being able to get there cars out arent too bothered about getting busy with a shovel either if my street is anything to go by.
  4. We had a huge mixing bowl full of chocolates and they were gone in an hour. We had loads of big groups of little ones turning up! Bless em.
  5. Hi Lotti. Cheers for the reply! I have experience with dogs but I havent trained a pup, so i may have a think about popping along to your course a bit nearer the time. Haha it wasnt taken as patronising, I bet there are many people who dont take the time to find out how to train their dog and end up with bad behaviour.
  6. So, we've decided to get another dog after we lost Pedro to old age in February. We have decided on a Labrador pup, and we will be getting her next April. So we have plenty of time to prepare. Pedro was my first dog, but I got him when he was 2 years old. He wasnt very well socialised as a puppy I think, he was used as a stud and kept separate from the other dogs. So he didnt like certain other people (at random seemingly) didnt like other dogs, cats etc. And even though he would obey commands alot of the time, he would ignore them whenever he felt like it. Luckily being a chihuahua he was quite easy to control by picking him up. Now because of the potential problems of improper training, we want to spend the time while waiting for new pup gaining the knowledge that we need to make her a fantastic companion. So if anyone can recommend any books, training guides etc that would be fantastic. Also anyones personal experiences are welcome. As much info as possible is what we need. Thank you! x
  7. If I had no overdraft I would but to where? Halifax are terrible as are HSBC. I dont trust any of them. I have been with LLoyds TSB for many years. Know your enemy and all that.
  8. Its sickening. So many people who rely on theirs in this current climate are going to be worse off now. Again, the poorer in society are going to feel it the most.
  9. I would do but a) I still have to pay it back b) My husband has had so much trouble with other banks (poor customer service, extremely unfair charges and a refusal to investigate a theft from his account by someone hacking his paypal account) that I feel I would be better off there. He banks with Lloyds TSB too now, although the fees dont affect him.
  10. Use an overdraft regularly? Live in it like I do alot? From december 2nd its gonna be a fiver a month if you use it. I can afford to get rid of mine before then but I really feel for those who are struggling. Any thoughts or bank rants? x:mad:
  11. I find the new look lescar to be very forced with its decor. I think its trying to be hip and a little kitsch but they tried too hard. Really cool places dont need to try. I used to be a regular cause i liked the atmosphere but that seems to be lost now.Its a rare occasion that i pop in now and thats only when im meeting people who want to go there. I find the beer a bit pricey too. A pal of mine had one of the fancy beers they do, some strawberry effort. He wasnt too pleased when he had to pay 7 quid for it in what is supposed to be a local pub.
  12. @foxforcefive,Sorry, thats how the post came across. I suppose I cant mind read!
  13. @katy1981. Your bodys metabolism slows down if you eat less all the time, unless you excercise more. Simply doing your everyday moving around isnt enough to lose weight.
  14. @foxforcefive, healthy diets include all that yes, but to say that you cant have proper nice meals from all of it is just wrong. Plenty of tasty stuff can be made from all that. Using a bit of imagination makes all the difference. Is a sunday dinner that is made up of roast chicken, 3 roast veg, spuds and a bit of gravy not a nice meal? I mean its fair enough if the way you have chosen to eat and excercise works for you, but the OP is asking for help with her eating. Dismissing anything that isnt laced with lard isnt really constructive. The mental image I have right now is you holding up a piece of wholemeal bread like a teenagers mum would hold a 6 week old stinky sock. Perhaps if you did happen to have a good look at what you eat, the "pie munching" phases would be less noticeable to you. Believe that I had the same attitude as you when I was alot younger. That got me into a size 24 dress size at my heaviest.
  15. More exercise and eat less fats and sugars and carbs. Fad diets are terrible. A friend of mine had cereal for two meals out of 3.She lost pounds quickly, Its not sustainable though, as soon as you go back to regular lunches you put it back on. Think about what you are eating. Is it deep fried? Yes? give it a miss. Is it 5 slices of bread? Too much. Is it vegetables? Pile em up. Do you eat processed meals like weight watchers? Sod that and learn to make your own. Someones getting rich from selling you a smaller portion of cheap nasty microwave food. Have a look when you are next in the supermarket at a normal micro meal and a "diet" one. You will find that mostly the only differences are the weight and price. Less food for more money basically.Cut down on your salt and drink lots of water. Its worth remembering too that good fats such as sesame, olive and sunflower oil help burn off bad fats, like the lardy ones locked in your body, but you have to excercise for this to work. This is an interesting one too. Full fat milk is better for you than semi skimmed. The fats in milk help you burn bad fat off quicker. And its in the fat part of the milk that there are most of the vitamins and calcium etc. If you are worried that its too many cals for you, then drink a little less. You will still get the good stuff. Reduce your cheese intake. you dont need any more than a matchbox size piece a day. And if you do a little bit of weight training to pump up your arms and especially your thigh muscles, your body will burn calories at a good rate even when you are resting. You dont need to end up looking like a body builder to burn calories efficiently. Treat your body like a machine that needs fuel and maintenance and you cant go far wrong. You wouldnt put diesel in a petrol car because its easier or cheaper would you? Same rules with food. If you eat rubbish then expect to get rubbish results. But its easy to eat right and exercise if you just put your mind to it. Everything bad can be substituted for good. I love curries, but they are a little fatty for me. I cant live without indan food so i have a dish of meat cooked in a tandoor with no sauce when i have takeaway. Simple changes. Good luck. If I can do it you can.
  16. You could have had your card details cloned or something. That will give all the info. I had it happened to me and the thief paid a total of £100 to a phone company I dont use. Fortunately the bank picked up on it and i got it back. You will be able to claim it back. You just have to sign a declaration that it was definitely not you who authorised the payment. Same with direct debit. My husband had talk talk help themselves to his bank account for a payment, even though he had a payment plan set up with them that didnt go through his bank. The bank were more than helpful as if they are letting people just take money without signed agreement from the account holder its not going to be good for business. Dont fret too much, the bank will do everything to help as they need your custom. Account theft is all too common unfortunately.Pop in in person if you can.
  17. Can you get hold of any cloves? Indian grocers usually sell them. Just put 1 or 2 near or on the affected tooth and the flavour will come out and numb it.
  18. No I sha'nt worry. I think I just needed some impartial advice, back up if you will. The houses are private, so there will be no risk of the council kicking anyone out.
  19. My friends did that when they first moved in. They had a nice bbq with a few friends and parents etc. The neighbours declined the offer. I get the feeling that they keep themselves to themselves unless they have a request about volume levels. I think Im going to be nice and polite to them but I wont pander to their wishes if its unreasonable. Ill also keep a log if it gets too constricting.
  20. All I require is to be able to live in my new house and enjoy it. It will be the first time in about 6 years that I will have a garden (and a lovely one at that.) I will want to have bbqs of an afternoon sometimes and not be scowled at.
  21. I dont know what you mean? Im only stating that to give an idea of the situation. Alot of people on this forum would draw the conclusion that if its 3 people sharing they must be noisy party animal students or something. Not saying you would but Im sure you know what I mean. We are all sensible grown ups!
  22. This is what Im thinking. I have had a complaining neighbour many years ago. At first it was justified, we just didnt realise how much noise carried. So we stopped playing music and crept around. We even came to an agreement with them about what time i could practise my music (between 4 and 5pm only). When all the initial noise died down and there wasnt need for complaint, they started ringing the poor officer in charge at the council about hoovering in the afternoon, toilet flushing and the noise that was made because we didnt have a hallway carpet. We did have one by the way. Also a complaint was made that one of our guests was revving an engine at 4 in the morning when we didnt have any guests. Out of a block of 300 flats it had to be us apparently. This was years ago but it was so stressful as we were threatened with eviction. Not being able to flush the loo without worrying was a big thing. I moved in the end. My point is that I dont want a repeat performance of this. I dont need the worry. Cheers for your reply HotPhil.
  23. Me and my husband are moving to a nice house in a nice area to share with a friend. We are taking the place of our friends (also a married couple) who are emigrating. Now this may seem like a strange thread seeing as we arent there yet but we have heard from our friends that the neighbours on one side can be a little demanding when it comes to the amount of noise that my friends house can make. This only applies to after 6pm, when they are home from work. They do have a couple of young children who go to bed quite early and that is respected. My friends that are there do not make excessive noise, they are generally quiet, chilled out people. Examples of complaints are; Phoning up to complain that the television is too loud. Phoning to complain that guests are making too much noise when talking. Complaining about noise when my friends are out in the garden chatting. Now before everyone goes off on one, all of these things have happened before 7pm. The phonecalls about guests talking too loud have been when a couple of people have been round for tea! Its hardly party central. These are just examples that I know of. My concern is that in the case of the tv, when I have visited it is on so quiet to keep next door sweet that I cant hear it over general ambient noise, like a car driving past or anyone talking even quietly. Which i think is slightly unreasonable. I appreciate that they want quiet, as I will too as I start work at 5am most days, but im not willing to tiptoe round in the very early evening because they insist on complete silence in their house. Im not planning on being a bad neighbour but i would appreciate any advice on how to deal with any issues that may arise. All I require is to have a normal conversation and watch tv comfortably in my own home. What do you think is a reasonable thing to say? From what I can gather it was an old lady that lived alone there before my friends moved in, so they will have moved there when it would have been very quiet all the time. I believe that people have to adapt to small changes, and while I am willing to make some effort to be a good neighbour, I would like the favour returned so my comfort level is taken into consideration too. Any advice is welcome. Its a funny one.
  24. Having a tattoo on my foot was not nearly as painful as having one on my back. The foot one was easy pain-wise. I suppose everyone is different.
