  1. I do u reckon I would raise the few hundred grand it would take to buy the building then?maybe I could have a car boot sale!lol
  2. There has been a new app put up to demolish Hambleton House after the council decided that it needed planning permission to be demolished. So again if you want to see the building saved please object to it again. http://planning.sheffield.gov.uk/publicaccess/tdc/DcApplication/application_detailview.aspx?caseno=LTPWJQNY0HL00&searchtype=WEEKLY
  3. I'm pretty sure it will be, there are only 3 clubs in the country who have a 100% home record and we are one of them.
  4. Tough place to go Stevenage they beat Charlton and Owls afterall, i'm going for 2-1 Stevenage.
  5. 3-0 Owls, the real test will come on 17th Dec against Huddersfield.
  6. I'm sorry but weed is less dangerous then alcohol and if alcohol is legal why isn't weed?you don't see people who have been smoking pot going round and smashing things up and getting into fights like you do with people who have been on the lash.
  7. The thing people have to understand about the city centre is that one area being regenerated depends on another being regenerated. Once the new market on the Moor is complete(starts in the spring) then they can start to regenerate the Castlegate area. So don't expect to see any real improvements to the Castlegate area for at least 2 to 3 years. High street on the other hand is a different matter, the paving and and general street scene could easily be upgraded and the street would look miles better. To be honest I don't know why High street has has not seen the general improvements that the rest of the heart of the city has got. The recession also has hit Sheffield far more then any of the other big cities, if the recession had not happened when it did then we would all ready have a brand new retail quarter and market building and people wouldn't be slating the city centre all the time. Sheffield city centre has vastly improved over the last few years and just needs the next few pieces of the jigsaw to fall into place.
  8. I don't know how some blades fans can have the cheek to take the **** out of our supposed "hoof ball" tatics when blades have been playing that brand of football their entire history or the majority of it.Makes compleate sense to me that now blades have supposedly started to pass the ball that they have a former owl to teach them how to do it.
  9. My application to have this building listed has been rejected. I have since learnt that the only way to prevent this building from being demolished is to contact SYPTE and lodge your complaint. Here is the link to do this http://www.sypte.co.uk/content.aspx?id=156.

  11. Now that is a good question, I would deffo give Palmer a chance in the team, every time he has come on it seems he has given us a bit of energy and made things happen. But I guess Megsen naturally airs on the side of caution.
  12. To be honest I think JJ needs to be given time to get in to a bit of form, he was out for quite a while with an injury so it's gonna take him a while to get back to his best. He just needs a run in the team. I think Megson is just easing him back into things so he doesn't get injured again. We have seen many times in the past JJ brought back to the team too quickly and then surprise surprise he gets injured again.
  13. Sheffield FC is not the worlds first football club it is the worlds oldest club.
  14. There is only one real problem with having protests in Sheffield against the bankers and the is the fact that Sheff doesn't really have a financial district!
  15. We are 5 points better off then this time last season.
  16. The app for this has been granted. http://planning.sheffield.gov.uk/publicaccess/tdc/DcApplication/application_detailview.aspx?caseno=LODFZ0NYFY000&searchtype=WEEKLY
  17. Charlton might be top of the league but they only got 15,000 in for their match on sat, that's pretty poor to be honest.
  18. That is what they said in the 60's and look what happened there, your view is very short sighted.
  19. If this building was demolished what would replace it?nothing!for a few years there would just be a pile of rubble. I can think of many more buildings in the city centre that are worthy of demolition then this. This is only an old dump because the people who own it have not taken care of it, it's their fault it's not being let out as offices. People can not be allowed to just demolish a part of a city's heritage just because they want to make a quick profit. This kind of thing happened all the time in the 60's and we lost many great buildings as a result, have we not learnt out lessons.
  20. Mate this building is part of Sheffield's heritage, it dates back to 1925 so pulling it down would be a bit of a crime. It's not in danger of falling down at all. The only reason why the people who own it want to demolish it is because they can't be bothered to invest the money to bring it up to a modern day standard. All they want to do is make a profit, so they see the best way of doing that is to knock it down and sell the land off. Then we would be left with yet another bit of empty wasteland in the city centre.
  21. Sorry mate I totally disagree with you, for a start there is very little chance that this site would be redeveloped in the next few years if the current building did get demolished. There are countless sites in the city centre that have been waiting on re-development over the last few years and nothing has happened. I would much rather have a building that dates back to 1925 rather then a pile of rubble that wouldn't see any re-development for years. If this building were to have a refab and brought back to it's former glory then it would benefit the area hugely. It is hugely important to a mix of architecture from different era's.Have we not learnt from the mistakes of the past where many grand old buildings where demolished in the apparent pursuit of "Progress". There are many more buildings that more worthy of demolition in the city centre that have no architectural merit at all. I can think of at least 15 of the top of my head, most of them on the moor and Castlegate.
