8/10 for me on that one, a harrowing story but great overall with amazing performances. Dunkirk - 9/10 some mixed opinions on it from the look of things, but I thought it was brilliant. It's not a war film as such, but a suspense movie - it doesn't spend time on the actual conflict but is centred around a handful of people and there experiences during the evacuation. The soundtrack is incredible, haven't seen anything for a while where the film score played such a key part in the film - I think it would be down to screening issues if the volume was so load it was uncomfortable. Baby Driver - 6/10 surprised it has been marked as 'film of the year' by so many across the internet, I couldn't help but see it as a diet version of the film Drive - a getaway driver with a love interest, things ultimately go wrong in a shower of violence, but it's weird when some of the car chase sequences are so well choreographed that they don't feel very exciting. Also found the way music was used got a bit tiresome.

most recently, the soundtrack to Dunkirk is incredible... haven't seen anything for a while where the soundtrack played such a key part in the film. Baby Driver has a good soundtrack too, although it is more like a 'greatest hits' playlist

The movie partnership of legendary horror film director John Carpenter and Hollywood favourite Kurt Russell produced several films through the 1980's and 90's, we're celebrating this movie duo with a back-to-back screening of a pair of films holding a cult status only matched by their levels of danger from another world - The Thing, and Big Trouble In Little China. 2017 marks the 35th anniversary of John Carpenter's The Thing - set in the winter of 1982, a twelve man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discover alien life buried in the snow. Soon unfrozen, the form changing alien takes host of members of the team, picking them off one by one, in a bid to survive and escape. Sicario a masterclass in sustained tension, with brilliant performances from a great cast and an incredible film score... the cinematography is bound to pick up a few awards. 9/10
