Anyone know if Thorpe Hesley carboot has survived the downpour?????

Hi there, just wondered if anyone could let me know what oldcotes is like for selling on a Wednesday? I see from the first page that it is a later start than Sundays, so what time do sellers start arriving? Would appreciate any info, many thanks in advance.

Many thanks for your interest and support. Great to know that people will try and release them for us. It does take a few weeks to successfully release them, SYAR will explain all this to you and be there to help if you need it. Just be aware because they are endangered the policy on release location is very strict, not everyone will have an environment that will give the animal its best chance of survival and reasons can not always given. Only mentioning this because of an earlier post from someone who was not suitable, On the outside chance that the charity can not let you act as a release person don't take it personally, its just that they have to be ultra careful. Hope you can release for SYAR, let me know how you go on and once again a big thank you for the help.

Please note the S Y A R organisation has strict policies on releasing information about animals in its care, same as it does for the adoption of animals. From what I know they will only release information to people who will be adopting the animals. I would advise you to ring the shop number given and check out if this networking is what they want. Also ypou are right we urgently need some one to help with the website as a volunteer, so if anyone has the appropriate IT skills and wants to help please ring the shop number given.

Please note, the organisation has many animals and very few people, if you can not get through on the phone straight away or no one is available to speak to you straight away, please keep trying until some one can answer tnhe phone or until the person you need is available. For all offers of help please ring the number, 01142349656, explain who you are etc and the organisation will either take your details and send you a volunteer form, these have to be submitted to the committee, same as most places and some one will be in touch or they will advise you as is appropriate. Hedgehogs will need a graduated release over a few weeks, they will have all the equipment they need provided I believe, a house to sleep in at night and a portable fenced run to stay in till you are happy they are eating and settling. The fence will then be removed and the house left down for them to sleep for a while if they wish it, they may stay put or they may wander, they can cover some ground so quiet rural areas are best. It takes a few weeks to release properly so you will have to gradually withdraw support from the animal ie enclosure then food then sleeping area till it is back totally living wild as it should, fending for itself. You must be able to stay emotionally detatched from the hog and give as little human handling or intervention as possible. Again for more informatuion call S Y A R, 01142349656, should have stated before, gardens in rural areas are best but each garden and area will be considered on its own merits and level of traffic. We are a small Walkley based charity on South RD, near the library, we sell good quality second hand clothing, shoes, books, DVD's. CD's, and all maner of other lovely bits n bats! Also we are a well stocked, fully functioning pet shop with a great and well established reputation, All of our proceeds from both pet supplies and second hand goods go straight to the care and upkeep of our charges. Consequently we need foster carers, especially for cats and kittens and also volunteers to help work in our shop. RIGHT ON medusa, Im the person doing the home checks for S Y A R and I dont care about your decor! Im looking at you to see how you interact with your family members , two ,four or whatever legged,winged or finned. I need to know that materialistic things like cream carpets are not valued above a live creature, as when you share your home with anyone else, humans included, things get damaged. I need to know that you can compassionately cope with a creature that dosent understand about net curtains, sofas and the impact that their natural behaviours are definately going to have on your home. Also I need to know that you as a person are responsible enough to maintain a safe environment for the creature you want to care for, That environment being both your internal home and its surroundings We do not operate a blanket home checking system, as you are quite right, everything needs to be taken into account in order to safeguard the thing of most importance that being the safety and care of said creature, not just whether you have a nice garden and house etc. Anyone who would consider a proffessional organisation taking steps to, maintain safety and quality of care for its charges, as snooping obviously has no understanding of what is entailed in properly looking after something live and would therefore not even get to the homecheck stage of our policies, or I suspect any other organisations adoption polisies. I can only for those who cannot speack the human tongue advise you not to entertain any thoughts of animal/creature ownership, for both your sake and theirs.
