  1. The London Boys, Roxy Hit man and her roadshow = got their autograph Nick Knowles of DIY SOS fame - again got his autograph Alan Titchmarsh - he said to my friend that I was very demanding because I wanted a photograph as well as his autograph!
  2. you could check on the Amey website but most leaflets I've seen state the bin has to be at the kerbside for 7am - we always put ours out the night before
  3. I hope not - we we're going to go last Thursday but I've got the cold from hell - going to see this Thursday
  4. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Spud-the-piper/115285625253197 Hope this isn't the guy who is ill! :-)
  5. We have a draughty attic - but the draught is coming from the floor. I lift the carpet up and cold air is coming up through the floorboards. There is a little space in the eves which also has cold air - do we insulate under the floorboards or is this ventilation? - how much to do this? Also we have a broken attic step - needs replacing - how much? Quotes please!
  6. I have a smartcard for the tram - I buy it online and activate it online for the date I want it to start... Just "renewed" it online for the tram for the 19th December
  7. Happy solstice and Yule Blessings to all... x
  8. Exactly - because while we are all fighting each other over the "propaganda" the government and the media is churning out about immigration, waiting lists, crime etc - we're not all standing together and fighting those who are truley screwing us over..... those in parliment....
  9. You need a coffe table in the empty bit in the middle between your sofa and tv, maybe a rug as well. Cushions on the sofa Walls feel too tall? - paint a stripe all around the walls - from where the wall meets the ceiling down - the thicker the stripe the more it'll make the ceiling seem lower Google for charity shops that sell furniture, Gumtree and Ebay are also good for cheap household items.
  10. I think people who were killed and burnt at the stake for not worshiping Christanity might have something to say about that.. The Church of England was formed because King Henry wanted to get divorced
  11. Can't they have the run of the house while they're inside? They might be more settled if they had a different view and could stretch their legs a bit. We let ours out after 2 weeks, they now only go out at night because of the busy road. They spend the day having the run of the house and sleeping. The only place we don't allow ours to go is our bedroom. They've got their body clocks sorted now and know when it's "going out time" and are waiting at the back door in the morning....
  12. I try and go for the shortest... but then the one next door moves faster!
  13. Well done Bedrock.... judging by some of the spiteful comments on here it seems ignorance isn't just confined to the "outside" world... Some of us to care about each other but sadly those who don't will still expect a hand up when they fall...
  14. She could have walked to town (and Howden House) from Arbourthorne not sure what she was doing at Crystal Peaks.... sounds like a scam to me...
  15. It's not just the big companies who are shocking - some "local" trades are just as bad.... I've posted for an electrician and window cleaner on here, had replies, given our address, stayed in and no show! No call or text to say why until I contacted them...... some people just don't want a job If you can't do the job you're in to 100%, then get another one where you don't have to deal with the general public. We all have to at some point deal with complete morons but to be ignorant, snotty or downright rude just makes you the moron.
  16. Any chance of you posting some of your photos ? I'll try and get my head around one of the photo sites and post some up.... I've got a website but it's "work in progress" at the moment... :-D
  17. true this! a lot of the buildings on Fargate were built in the 1800's - just look up above the "modern" frontages... there are some lovely old buildings on West Street and down the side streets which continue all the way down High Street. A lot of Sheffield was bombed in the war and to help keep spirits up they built just anything, so unfortunately we lost some wonderful buildings and now have a mish mash of styles I took some photos on Sunday and by the time I'd got to the top of Fargate I'd taken 150 photos - I found lots of interesting architecture to photograph!
  18. Failing the above... you can get em on Ebay!
  19. Mark Talbot - next to B & M, Hillsborough - very friendly staff - most excellent meat!
  20. Some of the trams have the blue and cream colours - I think they look great! We saw seagulls today - can't understand why they're so far inland.... not seen the red police car or swans..... Sheffield is brilliant isn't it!
  21. Am growing it out at the moment - this is going to take forever isn't it!
  22. I hope you do come back on here neep This forum used to be a lovely place, we used to have forum "meets" and everything - but to be honest I don't think I 'd want to meet some of the people on here. There are lots of newbies with too much time on their hands and nasty opinions! You can't seem to just get advice! Some people make a point of scrolling back through past posts and picking out points to throw at you. Never mind them - don't let them give you the impression that us in Sheffield are like that! No doubt they'll be on here in a flash after this and pick holes in this post.... you just can't help some folk.... best not to feed the trolls and just do this in response.....
  23. People were knighted to defend the realm.............. do you think any of our modern "knights" will be able to answer a call to arms? If they want to hand out awards for achievement I think they should call it something else other than being "knighted"
