I used to go loved it saw loads of Bands can't remember many now but the couple that stuck out were Eddie and The Hot Rods and Styx (before they got famous and went rubbish). Remember AC/DC played but I was unfortunately on holiday that week it still galls me to this day that I missed seeing them with Bon Scott!

Purse and cold drink found on 52 bus
Powerage replied to annb3811's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I was very grateful to the driver of a Stagecoach bus a couple of years ago when my daughter (after me telling her not to) took all her birthday money with her to school and then lost the purse on the bus. I rang up without much hope but was delighted to be told the driver had handed it in. There are lots of honest people still out there. -
The Netherthorpe Fawcett Street Parking Scheme scam
Powerage replied to SamJ89's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
What gets me is they do all this Parking Permit thing but people do need to park somewhere if they carry on no one will be able to park anywhere in Sheffield so you may as well get rid of your car. If they don't want people parking in certain areas they should provide suitable reasonably priced Car Parks instead. -
Although I don't agree with turning up and threatening tenants, the thought that you could give them a talking to and they will totally change their ways is laughable all you will probably get is abuse and your house smashed up even more, we have tried to be friendly and helpful with tenants plenty of times but they just see you as a soft touch 99% of the time.

I was bullied basically because I was shy and quiet and also had the misfortune to share the same surname as a very popular tv personality at the time, which gave the bullies no end of fun. It all came to an end one day when the worm turned and decked the ring leader (not proud of it but glad I did it). I was left alone after that and in a way it did make me stronger and I have to say I havn't done to bad in life, and I dont suffer fools gladly.

Parking around Sheffield Train Station
Powerage replied to wmoham001's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
If your going to Leeds or somewhere north sometimes its better to get the train at Meadowhall as the carpark next to the station is free, I know this is no good if the train only runs from Midland station but as you didnt say where you were going it could be helpful. -

3 Israeli teenagers found murdered. Israel attacks Gaza
Powerage replied to Mr Bloom's topic in General Discussions
As much as I think they are all as bad as each other I feel they are jumping to conclusions on who killed these teenagers, it could just be a robbery or even an Isreali wanting to stir up trouble, some people will go to the most dreadful lengths to get what they want as we all know. I just feel so sorry for the innocent families who have lost their children on both sides. -
No the design of the Arena inside is fine but getting out of it is rubbish, even my mate who lives in Leeds said the same, and the signage to it is rubbish we were going round and round the loop!!

Pink refuse bags on Sheffield streets?
Powerage replied to IRONMONGER's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
It says student refuse sacks on them so I am guessing they are supplied for students at the end of the year so the student areas are not left with piles of rubbish from student houses when they all move out for the summer. -
To be honest since Leeds Arena opened Sheffield Arena seem to have had better stuff on maybe its making them more competitive in attracting better acts, I actually hated the Leeds Arena I went last night to The Eagles and found getting to it and out of it a complete nightmare don't really want to repeat the experience again.

Most of us are living in close proximity to rats everyday and suffer no ill effects, we had a nest in our garden we saw the baby rats for a couple of weeks running about then they vanished, we are quite safe and not at all over run with rats. I really hate the fact that humans think they have the right to choose which animals we think are alright and which are vermin. Rats fulfill an important role in nature, they clean up rubbish/ dead animals and are also food for other animals.

Screaming sound in Wharncliffe side?
Powerage replied to seanovshef12's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Most probably a fox they can make some very scary noises, although usually during the mating season which I think is earlier in the year, it sounds a bit like a woman screaming or a baby. -
Leppings Lane roundabout alterations
Powerage replied to busterdoos's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Unfortunately not many seem to act sensibly round it in the morning blocking it off so that when you are trying to turn off Herries Road to go right up Penistone Rd its a complete nightmare drivers just don't use any common sense, I for one cant wait for the new lights. -
Milliband to cap private rents & extend tenancies.
Powerage replied to poppet2's topic in General Discussions
It really annoys me this stereotyping of landlords we rent out three houses (not one being ex council by the way) they have had £75000.00 worth of work done on them, they rent out at £300 per month as that is all we can get for them (they are not in Sheffield). Last year the accountant laughed at the end of doing the accounts we had made a profit of £3000.00 he said we would be better off on the dole! We do hold down our own jobs as well, so the stereotyping off LLs becoming millionaires at the cost of others is laughable. -
Well perhaps someone should have a word with the students at Longley college as I hear them calling it to each other all the time when I am picking my daughter up. I dont like the word and dont like to hear anyone saying it no matter what colour they are.

Glad to know I am not alone in this problem our young mastiff is constantly doing this when we walk her, dead things, and any poo at all she can find not just fox. Having to keep her on the lead most of the time now as it was just getting too much. I try and get her outside when she does it and hose her down on the part she has the pooey stuff on.

Ours sleeps on our bed with us at night which can get a bit cramped, or in the doorway. She has a crate she quite happily sleeps in while we are out as she is still prone to chewing up stuff that we still want!

Would have been nice if they had actually turned up!

The thing about having guns that scares me the most is that the Police would be armed, they seem to be better at shooting innocent people than most armed criminals.

This happened down our road skip was left for weeks all sorts dumped in it and around it, skip company came just took skip leaving mattresses, and loads of other rubbish half in the middle of the road, so the council then had to come and clear it up!
