  1. So we managed to buy our first house this year and have just left our last rented property. We thought we had an ok landlord. Any time anything went wrong we notified him. On the last day of our check out he asked us to repaint a wall. Now we had asked to paint it and said that if it needed returning to a plain colour obviously we would do it. We had given him a months notice. We asked him more than once if it needed doing. On the last day of the month (our checkout day) he asked us to repaint it. Understandably we were annoyed. We were not however rude. He saw our displeasure as a chance to get aggressive with my partner and warned my partner 'not to get on the wrong side of him', he honestly thought for a moment that there was going to be a fight. He left the house and when he saw him later after we finished painting he admitted he had anger problems. Since then he has tried to say that we didn't look after the place and wants to take an extra fifty quid off our deposit. I'm not really happy about this. I think marks and scuffs on walls and doors after two and a half years is fair wear and tear and that this is really because he's ****** off that we showed we weren't pleased with him. He's been really nice right up until giving us our deposit back and has turned into a total 'a' hole. I'm not sure wether to just take the remainder of the deposit or kick up a stink???
  2. Hi, I'm wanting to put an offer in on a house this week and wanted to know a few things first. 1) I know the house will need work but I'm not sure of the extent of it 2) Will it be possible to get quotes in this situation? 3) Don't worry I would still get a survey! Any help and advice would be brilliant! Thanks, Nina
  3. Ok so it's been a while. I've totally updated the site, I am taking no credit for it as I ended up getting a professional to do it! I had to realise where my talents lie and it's not mastering the building of a website clearly. I'm hoping to find that some of you (please dear god most) think it's a good improvement! Sorry to ask again but if you wouldn't mind looking… http://www.bellsandbowsphotography.co.uk Thanks in advance for any comments Nina x
  4. Ok.....so I've tried to take in as much of the very useful advice everyone has given me and tried using 4ormat instead of wordpress as I'd just about reached my limit with it to be honest. So fresh start! Any opinions on this would still be very gratefully received! http://www.bellsandbowsphotography.co.uk Ta! x
  5. @unknown_sole thanks for that I didn't know that was something I could do!
  6. @steveroberts, what would your suggestion be? I've tried something san serif and plain but bold....have I gone too far? Also its only the main body I could change (see above comment about menu)
  7. Hi, Thanks for all the ideas over night.....lots to get on with. Many thanks to all Nina x ---------- Post added 30-08-2013 at 16:13 ---------- Ok so I've battered my head off the computer all day and I don't feel like I've got ever so far...changed the font but for the life of me I cannot change the menu at the top!! Any ideas, I've tried forums and I'm wading through code. I've changed it once without digging through code but I can't remember now
  8. Zoe, Don't worry about offending me - I probably won't really cry. Yes on the first page I could sound a lot more confident about what I do! And someone has said to me today that rather than blathering on about myself on the about page I could talk about how I work with couples and how I shoot weddings. Glad you like some of it!! Thanks Zoe x
  9. Thanks Steve. I can add my address no problem but I don't have a landline so it's not something I can add.My very much no teenage friend will pleased at that comment on her portrait but I take your point. The contact form was put on there for me and what you noticed about it I only noticed last night and I agree it makes no sense! Yes indizne I did sadly pay for this from a web designer and now feel a bit out of pocket for it. Font's I can sort....though I struggled with trying to change the fonts on the men at the top....? Many thanks to both of you.....no tears just yet xx
  10. Thanks for the advice indizine...bit gutted you say that as I had originally paid for that theme (( I can certainly cull some images Thanks
  11. Hi, I'm hoping that I might be able to ask for some advice. I have a website which I think is letting me down in terms of showcasing what I can do. I'm not technical in this way and I'm struggling to sort it out. What I wanted to know is if I could ask for some constructive criticism so I have a more focused way to approach fixing it. I think I'm going to need a designer anyway but the more I can do for myself and learn the better. Please be nice - I cry easily!! Thanks in advance for any suggestions, http://www.ninapetchey.co.uk Nina x
  12. Just a quick update....another intersting lady photographed at the end of last week. A massive thanks to Sophie for a good chat! xx
  13. So yesterday I managed to photograph both Bryn and his lovely wife. He makes a stonking cup of tea, is hand with a socket set and can't wait to see what we came up with! I've got one more lady nearly arranged but I'd love to hear from some more people. Also wanted to say I've been really pleased to experience how kind people can be to total strangers. I'm also really enjoying all the conversations I'm having with people! Thanks again to all, Nina
