  1. Hello there, I am a current student of Newfield School and I am carrying out a School history project. I have carried out the project to archive the old school before the place was rebuilt totaly. I am getting quite concerntrated now as I have found a huge box of old photos along with a record player two cassette decks and old cinefilm. I have interviewed students who attended the Boy's School in 1959, but between then and the present day I have no information. So I have gathered that many members of this forum have once been students of Newfield, so I thought it would be a good idea to ask here for information. To make it more organised I have made a forum which is http://newfieldhistory.myfreeforum.org . I would be very grateful for information as I plan to put the whole booklet and video documentary together over the holidays, so the information would be very useful. Also if you do not want to register on the forums please post any comments in this thread. Thanks, Danny
  2. Also one more although I can't remember the road name is a side road of Derbyshire lane that faces down towards Woodseats which has a great view. It is the turn off next to The Wine Seller and Prince of Wales pub.
  3. The ski village gives quite a good view, and not many people seem to get that angle of Sheffield so it would be more unique.
  4. I don't think it is fair to but that comment. I don't act like what peoples thoughts are towards the "Youths of today", so it should be said that some of the youths act in this mannor.
  5. Well all I can say is thanks. My birth date is 31/07/93 and I am in Year 9. I have just completed my SAT's so I hope to recieve good marks in English! The only way I am connected to the admins of the School is via the school council, so no headteacher here. As I say I am not denying that I have had a small phase of bullying, but this was in my first year and this was all sorted out. It is not a brilliant school but it is certianley not bad enough to travel long distances to another school for. And hey why didn't I get a welcome to the forums message
  6. Hello, I am a current student of Newfield School and in Year 9, and I'm actually quite surprised at the comments in this thread. I know I cannot speak for the Schools past but a lot of the rumours of Newfield are just urban myths. I used to go to Mundella Primary and from the things I had heard I too was frightened of Newfield. But I have to say not even half of the stories were true. I am doing pretty good in School at the moment. I am reaching my targets and sometimes exceeding them, and in general the behaviour in classrooms is not overly bad. Most people get on well with each other as far as I can see, and the teachers are usually friendly. As far as I have seen other Secondary Schools suffer from the same problems as Newfield, and maybe the only reason for the other Schools getting higher grades is because of the students ability to learn. The only bad points I can say about Newfield School is the communication difficulty. My parents have tried to contact the School on many occasions by phone, and my sending a letter to members of staff personally, but there never seems to be a reply. The bullying seems to have rapidly cut down, fights when I first started were not unusual, but now its very big news if one ever seems to happen. It could have been once a month but now its more like once a year. I have had some trouble and that was sorted out as quickly as they could say it. Take my word on this one. I'm a student there! Is it really worth travelling long distances to a School that may only be a little better? Also yes they are demolishing a small portion of one of the buildings on the School grounds. As soon as the rubble has been cleared the new Newfield/Talbot School will be built.
