If their offer is in line with the terms and conditions of the policy, you may not have a choice. Call the loss adjuster and ask him to outline where/why the deductions have been made then challenge any points you disagree with but only argue on a point of fact! There will probably be some room for negotiation and a calm and factual point of veiw will get you far. Good luck.

Does the survey say why it needs retiling? Have the tiles laminated or can they be reused? Has the felt dropped to bits? Have the laths rotted? What type of tiles are they (rosemarys/concrete.........)? Your lender will almost certainly withhold funds until the work is carried out.

if its a private parking company, the 'summons' isnt worth the paper its written on. write back telling them so and that you are not prepared to pay or enter into further correspondence. i got a simular ticket in waitrose carpark in march and have not heard from them since. edit - screwfix is pants anyway so dont bother with them in the future!!!

TBH, I see some 'time served' plasters work and frankly wouldn't pay them for their efforts. I doubt anyone leaves a 4 day course thinking they are the world greatest plasterer but if it gives you the basic techniques and principals to build upon, why not? I was working in a house last week along side a retired decorator and could not believe the shocking standard of this guys work. Reminded me of the old Aero adverts!!!
