  1. I may be hopelessly out of touch having moved from the Sheffield area 4 years ago... but I think there was a 9 hole course at Rother Valley Country Park. Graham
  2. My first love... Diane Briggs, Brook School.... I would love to know where and what she is doing. And I am far away and very happily married so if she reads this somehow I am not doing the old 'I want my old love back' thing... I would just love to know that she is well and happy. In fact happiness is the thing that I wish to my few past loves. Graham
  3. It's a different sweet shop but anyone remember the sweet shop in a conservatory round the back of a semi on Stradbrooke Road? Late 60's I would guess when I lived in one of the prefabs along there. It was run by and old couple, mostly frequented by school kids from Stradbrooke School I would imagine. Graham
  4. Thats 'Brett' Favre... pleeeeaaaase Yes it has been a mite chilly... when it gets above freezing it feels warm now... weird!... but the summers start early, last long and are regularly high 80's F... So you got to love the contrast. Cricket is played quite a bit in Milwaukee and area... only 1 hour south but I have not gone to watch yet... West Indian and Pakistani teams apparently. Must get there this year. I have been looking for cricket on DVD but not much luck yet... I will need a region free player of course but typically they are the cheap ones. Beer.... Newcastle Brown is on tap at a local restaurant... and in bottles along with Boddington's in a local liquer store... so that's ok too Actually I think 'you' got 'our' snow. Graham
  5. And one Sheffielder in Wisconsin.... missing cricket terribly but watching the 'football' anyway.... Go Packers.... oh ok they went!
  6. I seem to remember a track somewhere at the Richmond Rd. end of Richmond Park... in a small wooded area maybe?.... Mists of time and all that.... Graham
  7. Plug away mate!... I was a member of the CRS (classic rock society) until I moved away so anything rock'ish is welcome I'll be at one of their concerts this Saturday at Herringthorpe... Midwest here is rock radio everywhere... good to see the good stuff making a comeback in the UK. Big Karnataka fan! Graham
  8. Well I am jumping on the plane today.... thanks for the suggestions... I am sure it is the humour I miss the most I must go see where they have built over the road, Devonshire Street is it? That sounds too crazy to be true! Will poke around Rare & Racy... one of my fave haunts. Read alot on here about the Millenium Galleries... guess I'll have a general wander and take in the sights. Not looking forward to speed bumps and 'traffic angering' schemes again... thank heavens we don't have them in Wisconsin. Thanks again.... maybe I'll give my impressions when I am home again in a month. Graham
  9. Hi, I have been away from England for 16 months, I am coming back to visit for a few weeks. What is new and worth seeing in Sheffield... buildings, galleries, whatever. Looking forward to your suggestions. Graham
  10. So how far does Henderson's Relish travel? Mine comes just shy of 4000 miles from my mom in Sheffield to Wisconsin, USA. Way too pretty to put away in a cupboard too with it's cool orange label. Mine lives on a little display shelf withing easy reach of the dining table... Anyone's travel further... someone must be able to beat that... graham_mca:)
  11. Just visiting the Sheffield Forums from here in Wisconsin.... very sorry to hear the sad news of Tony's death. I have been here one year today so I still had the pleasure of hearing him on Radio Sheffield before I left. His afternoon show was the best though... kept me going on many a tedious day. Not just his humour but his knowledge of history, both local and American was broad. A facinating man to listen to, remember his regular guest 'metal detecting Martin'?... great stuff. Sadly he will be missed. Graham_mca
  12. Remember Violet Mays?.... That was a good shop for picking up older singles and ex juke box stuff. Peter Frampton... 'Show me the way" what a find that was..... erm.... They sold comic books too I think... or was that after a change of ownership? Graham_mca
  13. Same reason they taste of baby sick..... in fact any sick!
  14. yay hayyyy.... Another care parcel arrived from my mate in Sheffield... and this one contained not only the new and scrumptious Lindt 'Lindor' choccies for my lady ( who has been drawn to the dark side by Brit. choccy) but also the holy grail of Sheffield goodies... Henderson's Relish!!! Yes a well wrapped bottle ( blass) got here safely and now resides on a little display shelf conveniently close to the dining table. I guess it should be in the dark but that simple bottle with it's orange label proclaiming 'Made in Sheffield' is too lovely to hide. Gotta go heat a 'pot pie'.... Glad to hear you all had a great summer there... was lovely here too.... had a few days below freezing already though... brrrrrr. Graham_mca:loopy:
