  1. there is, its more of a 9 hole pitch and putt though, take some scissors with you, the holes usually need trimming if you actually want to do the putt bit
  2. if you hear of anyone trying to sell on a litespeed niota in black, please get in touch, one was nicked in hunters bar area last thurs eve 1st feb, ta
  3. me and a few other fairly experienced mtn bikers get out most wkds in the peaks, usually start at hope and ride various routes from there, pm me if you fancy it, we usually go out for 3/4 hours and do about 2/3k feet of climbing. If anyone has a few hours to spare on the 28th Jan, we are having a dig day to continue building the new xc trail at Wharncliffe, 10am top car park, bring a spade
  4. Can anyone help me with a bit of research? I want to know the names of council owned recreation grounds in Sheffield and surrounding areas that have loads of grass football pitches on them for Sat/Sun league clubs, the more pitches on them the better! thanks in advance
  5. Just getting off your arse and offering me a cup of tea next time i'm round would be more challenging oldgreen

  10. I'm quite happy to sit in a small queue of traffic on my bike but being able to filter on a bike is so much better, I agree bikers have more awareness of other road users and riding bikes has improved my driving too, I'm forever checking over my shoulders these days, even at the the supermarket when I'm overtaking another trolly! I can understand the occasional frustratation though, some bikers have appalling riding skills that deserve the stick they get but in general bikers are very aware of spaces and gaps in traffic and filter knowing the risks. I dont think the first poster has much insight into what risks bikers come across each day, I use to commute 100miles per day through london and if I had less than 5 cars pull out on me each day then I considered it a good day. My advice to feelinolder is to check your mirrors more often and learn how to share the road.
  11. riding a CBR600rr04 in red (fastest colour), been living in London for two years but moving back to Sheffield in a month or so, yipee!! Well up for a ride out or two when the weather improves if anyone else is?
  12. Congratulations on passing your test! Helmets..ok, buy the best helmet you can afford, go to a bike shop and try on as many as possible and choose the one that fits best Dont buy a second hand one as you never know if its already been dropped which will weaken it. Good makes are Arai, Shoei but its the fit that is important, also you might want to consider getting a small sticker to place on it that says in the event of an accident do not remove helmet, god forbid but you never know when an accident will happen and you wont thank anyone trying to remove your helmet and causing further injury. Apart from that have fun and be safe!
  13. fred, i think most people arnt as trusting as you and then theres the insurance issue if your not covered. I ride my 04 600rr and wouldnt let anyone ride it because its simply my baby and I wouldnt want anyone trying to be valentino rossi on it. Best off arranging a test ride at a dealership, they dont mind lettinng bikes out for a few hours, i tested a new blade the other day with no intention to buy it, just fancied a ride on one.
  14. .............and I always acknowledge such gestures with a nod of gratitude!
  15. I always filter, thats why I bought a bike. I would have bought a car if I wanted to sit in traffic. So, thanks to all the car drivers who let me through by leaving us bikers a big enough gap to get through.
  16. Cheers Lalaland, alls good, the driver admitted liability to the insurance company and I have had the quote approved by her insurers, all being well I should be back on the bike at the end of the week! alot quicker than I thought, BTW she was with Norwich Union and they couldnt have sorted it any quicker. So I'm getting a new swingarm, tailtidy, mini indicators, showplate and exhaust plus £15 a day to cover my alternative travel expenses until the bike is back with me. Happy days and means I wont need to cancel my trackday at Brands next week!!
  17. ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Just been rearended whilst sat at a roundabout waiting to join it, managed to keep it upright but only just, looked back and theres this girl holding her head mouthing "Sorry" at me!! She reversed out from between my rear tyre and exhaust so I could walk the bike to the kerbside, exchanged details and she admitted liability. Bike needs new exhuast, lights, tail tidy, numberplate and possibly new swingarm if bent?? There goes my fun for the summer!! :-(
  18. Nice one but 8am on a Sunday is way too early, have fun boys and girls!
  19. Thats what we need, more girls on bikes, best go my mrs is on her way!! My advice would be learn the roads you ride, and dont move away from Sheffield like I did, cos the roads here are naff!!
  20. After moving from Sheffield to North London 9 months ago, I can conclusiveley say........... London is rubbish! The people of London are misserable, impatient, unfriendly, disrespectful, unfunny with very high opinions of themselves and what they do for a living. Most areas are a dump, cramped and un maintained. Driving is impossible unless you do it all between 8.30pm and 5am. Drivers have no choice but to drive without any care for anyone else. Every journey entails a bumper to bumper tail back. The tube isnt an option unless you have an obsession with being trapped in an overpacked tin. Sheffield, you may not be on the map as much as you would like but you really do have everything London doesn't!
  21. I cant say I have ever had a bad experience at John Lewis, Sheffield. Recently I bought a tv from them, John Lewis price matched the same product being sold in their Watford store who were price matching an independant store in Watford. Sheffield knocked off £850 straight away and then delivered it to me. Happy days!
