  1. My niece is getting married in March, but its not a church wedding?
  2. Its my birthday tomorrow and I'm off to see Blood Brothers at the Lyceum. I fancy lunch out too, but can't decide where? Nothing too expensive or pretentious, but something a bit different to weatherspoons - or greggs! It can't be too far a walk either as my companion is disabled and struggles to walk far. Any suggestions?
  3. No hospital visits is top of my list. Health and happiness to friends and family
  4. Guessed that much, just wanted people to be aware. Haven't seen anything mentioned so hopefully not too serious.
  5. Apparently something has happened near ecclesfield school, no idea what but road is blocked by police and ambulance, probably best to find another route.
  6. Apologies, I should have said its a control pad, not an actual mouse it's gone to the company mentioned now, fingers crossed it just needs a clean!
  7. Thank you, will contact them tomorrow
  8. I have a laptop that's only about a month old - yesterday my son ended up being sick, some of it went on the keyboard it's all working ok, apart from the left mouse button is very unresponsive. It obviously needs a clean! Is there anywhere reputable, ideally in north sheffield where I could take it please?
  9. We go to the manor operatic one at the city hall every year and are never disappointed. There is also one at the Academy theatre in Birdwell, haven't seen a pantomime by them but judging by other shows I've seen them do, it will be fantastic
  10. We went on it last year with a range of children from 3-12 years including a wheelchair user. It was lovely, the santa was great and the gifts were really good, not sure if it was just a fluke, but everything was perfect for each child Of course, there were some downsides, we thought we'd got there fairly early but the train was packed already, we were very lucky to get the last compatment rather than a table (the tables looked lovely btw, my son is disabled and can get a bit overexcited and screamy, didnt want to ruin anyone elses day!). You also only go a few minutes down the track, then just go backwards and forwards for a bit, little ones dont realise but the grown ups and older kids did haha. I'm trying to talk my daughter into wanting to go again this year for her birthday treat
  11. Poundland, the range and home bargains often have them in
  12. Maybe its a hairdressers? Could do with one of those?
  13. My nan is also in dale wood view, it seems fine. She does have dementia but I know not all the patients do.
  14. Its well known about the council cuts, and a lack of funding for community resources. Do you have a community building in your area? Is it well used? Do you use it? What for? Are you aware of what goes on in it? What would you like to see? We are in danger of losing ours, and a group of people are trying to come up with ideas to make it viable. Thanks for reading!
  15. A car got set alight on Griffiths rd, lots of emergency services attended but no one was hurt.
  16. Miss Hepher, thats the one I'm thinking of, my word, that woman terrified me!
  17. I think I was a year above you, I started in 92. I know quite a few who would have been in your year though! My form teacher was Ms Williams, a geography teacher. She went to work at Ecclesfield, and left / retired possibly a few years ago. I know the teacher you mean, can't for the life of me remember her name though!
  18. Hi Lee, I have you on facebook I think! I went to High Green comp, and stayed till the end, moving to stocksbridge in 1995. The uniform was a dark blue jumper, light blue polo shirt and black trousers or skirt. I have the logo on a mug, and a commemorative booklet somewhere, must scan it in! I also have some pics, but the campus is now used as a school for children with cerebral palsy, amongst other things. The outside hasn't changed at all (I still live here and am a regular visitor to the building. To be honest, the inside hasn't changed that much! They do have a website and facebook page which probably has pics on. I can easily get some if not though! As for memories, too many to mention! I loved the place and was gutted when it closed.
  19. Local schools kept kids indoors all day due to the fumes
  20. According to hubby who's nosy, its a warehouse on the industrial estate near j35, don't know any more as yet though. Hopefully no one was working.
  21. Huge cloud of smoke, looks to be over Chapeltown but could be further afield going on size? Hope no one is hurt! Need to convince my daughter its not Ecclesfield school!
  22. Please remember some disabled people have conditions which mean they can't wait in a queue for the toilet, they need to go ASAP. If the whole world and their mother think 'oh it's ok, I can't be bothered waiting so I'll go there', there wouldn't really be any point having disabled toilets. I needed to use a disabled toilet with my wheelchair bound son at the nec in Birmingham! there was a queue a mile long for the 'normal' toilets and almost as long for disabled! A security guard came out and informed the queue that if they weren't disabled they had no right waiting there as it was priority. Of course, not all disabilities are visible, but every single person in the queue started shouting that they were disabled and giving the poor guard some awful abuse, he was only trying to help!
  23. Just looking for some advice really, I live in a council house (no nasty comments, there is a reason for it) and the other day a kier worker came out to fix a repair to a faulty pipe under our kitchen sink. After returning from the school run, I came home to a flooded house and water gushing out, where obviously it wasn't repaired quite as well as we thought! Every room downstairs, bar my sons bedroom is affected, and the amount of damaged items is huge, from laminate flooring, to kids toys, and furniture. We had another kier worker come out within a few hours who did another repair, and very helpfully carried damaged items outside and helped to mop up. The following day the housing inspector came out, told us their responsibility was to mend the kitchen cupboard and possibly the flooring, the rest would have to be taken up with kier. Kier inspector came out, and said we had to claim off our household insurance. I've contacted them, and they are apparently posting me a form, which I'm to fill in and post back, then they will see about getting someone out to assess the damage. I've never had to make an insurance claim before, but does this seem right? I did query what would happen if someone didn't have insurance, only to be told that would have to be taken up with kier - does it seem like we are being penalised for actually having insurance? I'm worried if I make a claim, then our premium will go up next year. Had the accident been our fault, then absolutely so, but in this instance is this the case? I'm worried about how long we have to live like this. We have been told the flooring needs ripping up ASAP and we have a dehumidifier running to try and dry out the plasterwork. We took photos of the flooding and the damage, but will insurance person need to see all this before we can try and clean it up? We have 3 children living here, one with severe disabilities and two with medical needs (epilepsy and asthma). As the downstairs is currently in a terrible state, we are having to carry our almost 10 year old disabled child upstairs for living space. The housing inspector did say that he would have considered the possibility of re homing temporarily but they had nothing available with adaptations. Everyone unconnected I've spoken to seems shocked that it has to go through our insurance rather than kier sorting out compensation, but I don't know what to do next! Any advice gratefully received, also donations of chocolate or wine to save my sanity!
  24. As the title really, anyone know of anything worth taking hubby and kids to? Anyone doing anything special?
