  1. Yes it is a scam. I've seen them swapping the crutches over to each other then walking away without so much as a limp. They're most likely smackheads or something. There's a horrible baghead woman who hangs round by Waitrose and the bottom of London Road who comes up to me every day with the same like... "scuse me". I just tell her to eff off but she still asks me everyday I walk past. Scum.
  2. Try contacting either of the universities. I'm doing a French module at Hallam this year as part of my degree.
  3. I was stood at the bustop next to Virgin when this happened. I thought maybe it was a drugs bust at the Fountain pub or something? But you guys are saying it was definitely in Virgin! A lot of police did turn up.
  4. Yeah I've never known it in any other city, having to pay to get in a bar that is. I refuse to go in any bar that charges entry! Although people are obviously stupid/happy to pay or they would be free entry.
  5. Thanks for the warning, I live on Vincent Road too. Will tell the girls I live with to be extra carefull.
  6. Cheers people! Especially you Snail; that is really helpfull advice. The buyer has responded to my email. Apparently Paypal are sending him a code to reactivate his account blah blah etc. He's offered to send me a cheque instead which I told him to do. Hopefully that'll be the end of it! If not I will follow your advice.
  7. I sold a mobile phone on eBay and now I think I've been swindled. The buyer sent me payment by Paypal and I posted the phone off. Then, I recieved an email from Paypal telling me they were investigating the transaction and I provided them with details of what had happened so far. So the money was in my account but it was listed as 'held' whilst the investigation was happening. Today I got another email from Paypal saying the investigation is complete and the payment has been reversed! So the money has gone back to the buyer!! I've sent the buyer an email requesting they pay me or post my phone back, but I'm not expecting a reply. The buyer's feedback is set to 'private' which has made me even more suspicious. Does anybody have any experience of this? What is the best thing for me to do?
  8. Yeah but you can only get served up until 12.
  9. Definitely the Brown Bear. It's like inhaling the M1 sat in there!
  10. Hey I'm going to the ball too. I got my suit this morning from a place opposite Primark in Castle Market, called Formal Affair. With a student discount I paid just under £35 pounds, and it wasn't the bog standard suit either. Only thing is you need to pay a £50 bond on collection and bring some ID.
  11. Yeah it really is great. I haven't eaten there yet but I plan to soon! Nice selection of good value drinks and a few real ales too. I went on a Wednesday night recently to see a mate's band and the bar stayed open till 3am, was really excellent. Plus like you said, none of the West Street crowd.
  12. Depends what you're looking for. The actual student houses in Norfolk Park are quite run down, but there's a great atmosphere because you can just stroll in to your neighbours' or mates' houses. I stayed there in my first year and I miss the social aspect even though it was a dump! I had mates who stayed in Charlotte Court and Exhange Works etc and although their rooms were clean and modern with en-suites they didn't get chance to meet as many people as they were kind of restricted to their own unit. Best thing is to go and check them out for yourself.
  13. The white, plastic garden chairs and tables used in there.
  14. There's at least 3 places on London/Abbeydale Rd that specialse in afro hair.
