  1. Blacksheep, I`m interested too. I see the last contribution was in April 09. Did you find any more addresses after that ?
  2. Thanks for lightning reply, em. I`m inclined to leave the query open in case Ghozer want to come in with his/her own slant on it. That lionk has now appeared. I`m sure it wasn`t there before. I see also that I can Post Repoly on one button, or quick reply in this box, or press a small button called qr, or reply with a quotation ( Shakespeare ? ). Confusing. But I can`t keep on pestering you. I do wish there was a tutorial. Eigenblog
  3. Thanks for the interest, Ghozer. em3978 kindly replied the same day ( 8.5 ). I don`t know if Forum allows you to see her reply. She says I have to go to the "report post" link in bottom r.h. corner. There`s no such link on the page. I guess she means some other page. Can you help at all ? I`ve come late in life to this business. I think there are loads of things that others take for granted because they`ve been tapping keyboards since junior, or even nursery, school, putting in thousands of keyboard-hours. Make it as simple s you can. Eigenblog
  4. Apologies for late acknowledgement. Thanks em. Eigenblog
  5. My first experience of this forum. There doesn`t seem to be a tutorial, and I got no reply from "Contact Us". I`ve posted a message and got replies. Very good. Now I want to close the message so I don`t put anyone else to the trouble of replying. Don`t know how to do it so I thought I`d add a relevant PS to my original and send it out again. I did the edit, and then couldn`t find a "send" button this time. Another funny thing was that when I called up the forum, I didn`t have to, log on. I was welcomed by my pseudo-name straight away. Quite a relief, but unusual, I think. Would any kind contributor suggest solutions to my very elementary problems ? Eigenblog
  6. Thanks a second time, Kingmaker 2. Yes, it will do the trick. Ages ago, I had the same thing, and you bring it all back. Eigenblog
  7. Thanks Ann. I bet it will work. I have a very dim recollection of doing it ages ago. How do you know these things ? You must have a pretty good understanding of how computer-things work. Wish I had. I`ve wasted huge chunks of my time coming up against computer mysteries and trying to find the answers and get through the jargon. Could I just bother you for one extra thing ? This paper-clip problem is solved, so how do I cancel my query ? As usual, the FAQs on this site don`t get elememtary enough to answer a simple question like that. Thanks again. Eigenblog
  8. Thanks alchresearch, for quick reply. Any ideas how I can get rid of those bogus clips, so that a cl;ip really means a proper attachment ? Someone once mentioned this problem to me and said it had summat to do with what AVG call "certification"!! Eigenblog
  9. Thanks for reply, Kingmaker2. I have Version 7.5.467. Somebody once mentioned this business to me and said it had to do with something that AVG call "certification". Does that give you any hints ? It would be nice to get paper-clips appearing only when there really is an attachment. I`ve just begun with this forum. There doesn`t seem to be any tutorial. Having been alerted by email by the system, I cast around for my origianl message, and found it in Control Panel ! Odd place. Your reply was there too. If you reply to this, can you confirm that that`s the proper place to look for original messages plus their replies. Even better, is there a tutorial buried somewhere ? If this is a quick reply I wonder if I should Post Reply or Post Quick Reply and what a slow one is, but I mustn`t burden you with my ignorance. Eigenblog
  10. A lot of my emails, though not all, come with a paper-clip, which means an attachment. I`m using OE. Most of those attachments are nothing more than a repeat of the contents of the email itself. I believe it`s some peculiarity of AVG Free. If anyone`s kind enough to answer this, would they state all the clicks please. I believe that I will be alerted by email, by the forum system, if there are any replies but I have to confess that I don`t know where to look for replies. The FAQs don`t seem to descend to such an elementary level. If I don`t get a reply to my request for help from the organisers, I`ll do my best to look through all the headings and sub-headings in search of the spot where replies land. Eigenblog
