  1. Hi Halifax Road Dental Care, I think they have another surgery at Grenoside as well. I've had loads of work done and they're great. They are usually taking new people if you call at the start of the month. Cheers
  2. Hi Does anyone know what's happened outside the Iceland at lane top? My bus was diverted to miss it out completely and looks like a bus has been cordoned off by police. Thanks
  3. That does really help yes, thanks. We are really interested in finding out some information about your dads grandads mum Eliza charlesworth. She registered John's (your dads grandad) birth but then seems to completely disappear from any census. It would be great if you had any information about this. Thanks in advance. Laura
  4. Hi Jan, That would be fantastic. I will PM my address to you so that you can forward them to me. Did you ever speak to your Grandad about his parents? I know my mum said that it wasn't something which was really spoken about. I'm guessing that his mother Eliza wasn't a part of his life as she seems to disappear after his birth in 1865. Any more info on this would be great. Thanks Laura
  5. Hi Jan, I will let her know - we actually live next door to Marie so I will see her later too so I will mention you to her aswell. Is your mum still alive? - I know she was born about 8 years after my grandad. I would love to see pictures if you have any of your grandparents - my mum hasn't got any so I have never seen them. Thanks Laura
  6. Hi, My other auntie and uncles are all still living in Sheffield - they are all well apart from Marie who is currently battling with Pancreatic Cancer. What is your name and I will mention you to my mum - I'm sure she will remember you. If you have any more info on the Charlesworth family I would be really grateful. Thanks Laura
  7. Hi Helen and Jan, I have just decided to come back to searching my family history and came across your replies. Yes my grandad is Clifford Charlesworth and my mum is Marguerite Charlesworth she is the youngest of 8 children and they did live on Wordsworth Avenue. 2 of her brothers Tony and John both emigrated to Australia. Sadly John died in 2005 of Leukemia. If you have any more information please get in touch. Thanks Laura
  8. Hi, Yeah Kath did marry Graham Lightfoot - funnily enough we're having a party on Saturday night to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Doesn't time fly. Thanks Laura
  9. Hi There, I've been reading a lot about your book and intend to pop out on my dinner to try and get a copy. My mum grew up on Wordsworth Avenue - her name was Marguerite Charlesworth back then, she was the youngest of 8, the others being Tony, Christine, John, Louis, Julia, Marie and Kath. She tells me that you were her cushion bearer when she way the may queen. She does have a picture of this so if you like i can dig it out and send you across a copy? Looking forward to reading your book. Thanks Laura
  10. I've seen recruitment for a Pets at Home store at the Kilner Way retail park. Not sure when it opens though. Thanks Laura
  11. Hi There, I am looking for information regarding the Marson family who lived in Sheffield in the 1800's. Harry Marson who was born in 1872 in Wincobank appears to have a wife a 3 children in the 1901 census. However in 1907 he emigrated to America and left his wife and children behind. I'm looking for information regarding the family he left behind so if anybody knows anything i'd be really grateful. Many Thanks in advance. Laura
  12. Hi Hugh, John's father is not listed on his birth certificate and Eliza as far as I can tell never got married - John was given Charlesworth which was Eliza's surname. John is listed on the 1891 census as living with his grandparents and i've also found some school admission records and it seems that his Grandfather took care of all this instead of his mother. Eliza seems to dissapear after Johns birth - she did register the birth but I have nothing after that. Thanks Laura
  13. Hi Paul, Thanks for this - He did have a son called Gordon and and one called Ronald. He would be about 80 now i think - He was born in the 30's. I think this could be the one i'm looking for - there is a Ronald Charlesworth listed on Everingham road in the Phone book so I think i'll give him a call. Thanks so much for your help. Laura
  14. My nanan and grandad lived on Wordsworth Avenue at Parson Cross until 1992 when they both died. I think Ron lived in the Arbourthorne/Manor area. I'm really not sure whether he had any other children though. Thanks
  15. Hi there, I am currently doing some family history research and I've hit a brick wall. My great great grandmother Eliza Charlesworth seems to 'vanish' from all records following the birth of her son John White Charlesworth in 1885. Unfortunatley my mum and her brothers and sisters don't know anything about her and my grandad died about 20 years ago. I know that my grandad had a brother named Ronald but he will have died now too. I do know however that he had a son also named Ronald Charlesworth and I am trying to trace him. He would have be around 70 years old now so born in around 1941. I don't really know much else about him, my grandads name was Clifford Charlesworth and his wife was Norah. They had 8 children, the youngest being my mum, Marguerite. Any help in tracing him would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Laura
