  1. Our cat is an indoor cat, as he is deaf and wouldn't be able fend for himself properly outside. He is unable to hear any other cats/dogs/cars etc so wouldn't be able to protect himself.
  2. Alright, I own up it was me. I didn't want to go out and weed the garden, so I hoped it would rain. Trouble is, it hasn't stopped since (and my garden is now full of weeds!!)
  3. My hubby used to have an old E reg Sierra Sapphire many moons ago. I used to love driving it. It had an 1800 engine, and boy could it shift !
  4. Our caravan is on the site opposite The Chase. The site does seem quiet apart from it being used as the entrance to the overflow carpark for Fantasy Island. However, this only seems to get really busy on Bank Holidays. There aren't any shops, pubs etc on the site (in fact I don't think there's anything on the site apart from caravans!), but there are plenty of shops, pubs, Fantasy Island, market etc about ten minutes walk away in both directions (out of the main entrance to the site, or down the path from the overflow car park). Hope the weather's better for you, enjoy your hols!
  5. On the weather forecast at the end of Calendar tonight, the weatherman said that there will be heavy rain teatime-ish on Sunday, and that there could be localised flooding. I do hope not.
  6. Fig Tree News in town still sell Raspberry Ruffle Bars. I know cos I bought one last week, and very yummy it was too ...
  7. Beckett's also used to have a chippy on Staniforth Road back in the 70's. Once a week we would have our supper from there - chips and fishcake cost 10p! Bloody lovely they were too.
  8. I used to go shopping for an old lady who lived just round the corner from us. She couldn't get out to do it herself, so I went round every Saturday morning, picked up the shopping list and money, and off I went. I used to get 2 shillings, which was a fortune then. I also loved stripping wallpaper so was often called on by various relatives, neighbours etc to go and help them strip the walls when they decided to decorate! Can't bloody stand it now.........
  9. Cheers for that, Jabbers. Bugger, it wouldn't be any good for me - I'm longsighted (that's old age for you)
  10. Along similar lines, someone who lives just down the road from us lets their un-spayed female cat wander around all over. Poor little thing is on its second pregnancy and it can only just be a year old itself.
  11. You would think that everything would be too wet to burn after all the rain we've had (and are still having....). Hope it's not too serious
  12. Jabbers, I can't get your link to open up
  13. I've worn monthly disposable lenses for almost 3 years now, and wouldn't be without them. I put a new pair in on the 1st of every month and there they stay until the end of the month. Very rarely have any problems with them. I get mine from Specsavers, they are posted to my home every 3 months through Lensmail, and cost £15.50 per month
  14. But take the plants out first !!
  15. I go to a chiropractor as I have suffered for nearly 4 years with a trapped nerve in my lower spine. I went for physio to no avail, and a friend suggested seeing a chiropractor. Although the pain hasn't gone away totally, it's much, much better and is improving with every visit. She advised heat pads for muscle problems, and ice packs for joint problems. Diclofenac tablets don't touch the pain at all.
  16. I'm aware that a lot of people may disagree with me, but I'm a firm believer that the lottery money should go to the NHS rather than to the arts etc. Almost everyone at some time in their life will use/need the services provided by the NHS, and the lottery money could then benefit more of the population, rather than just those who visit art galleries etc. Perhaps then there wouldn't be so much need to discriminate who gets drugs, treatment etc
  17. No, the Costa del Sol is the southern coast of Spain - Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Marbella etc. Benidorm is a lot higher up the coast - not sure how warm it would be there
  18. I agree totally. I regularly leave the Parkway at this exit and go right round the roundabout and up Prince of Wales Road. In the last few weeks I've witnessed lots of drivers almost being rammed by the inconsiderate few who have been in the wrong lane and just driven straight across. There's going to be a very nasty accident before too long.
  19. I've been to the Costa del Sol in November, December and January at various times, and the temp has been around 22 - 24C then, so I should imagine it will be warmer at the end of September
  20. Haynes (of car manual fame) also do a baby manual - it's very good!
  21. Bloody hell, £700,000 budget for a house! Why can't they show something more realistic?
  22. Around 8.30 tonight I took my daughter and granddaughter home to Stannington (I live in Gleadless), and it was the weirdest weather - huge black clouds, throwing down with rain, and the sun shining brilliantly at the edge of the clouds. We also saw the rainbow. Couldn't take a photo cos I was driving at the time.
  23. Oh yes, landmines !! Why didn't I think of them? *conjures up vision of exploding cat - Tom & Jerry style* I think I'll try the citrus peel idea, hope it works
  24. My youngest sister lives in Norfolk, and when we go to visit her twice a year, we have to take a couple of bottles of Henderson's Relish with us. We have to stand on the doorstep with the bottles in our hands when we ring the doorbell or she won't let us in the door!! Personally I can't stand the stuff - it smells awful
  25. The last time I went to Copenhagen with 2 friends, we were charged £27 for three sandwiches! We daren't ask for a drink to go with them...
