  1. I have just received a complaint alleging I had sent someone an email this morning. I have never sent any emails to that person this morning. As far as I am aware no-one has hacked in to my email account either. Are there any other ways to send an email purporting to be a sender other than the sender?
  2. thanks - think i've found what I'm looking for and should know for certain by Monday whether it's available.
  3. I'm looking for educational resources on the Great Sheffield Flood - particularly a mock up of the area - does anything exist anywhere? Thanks
  4. Thanks all - link to laptop spec http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/laptops-portable-pcs/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g505-1184165/specification. So question is the video card fine as it is or do I need to replace it in which case how much will it cost and is it worth it? ---------- Post added 12-01-2014 at 16:20 ---------- I only want to play this game Super Tux2
  5. I want to use W8.1 with a game and link the same computer to a separate monitor which I want to display a powerpoint. I'm sure this is do-able and would like to know how to go about doing it. Thanks
  6. I need to buy a camcorder for video interviews - 90 minutes minimum duration as well as recording workshops or other activities. Harrisons now only sells a Sony which retails for about £200. I've also just been advised that Nikon's camcorders are superior to the Cannon in terms of lens sharpness etc. As I know nothing about camcorders I'd like some advice on the best to go for and how it compares with the Canon http://www.johnlewis.com/canon-legria-hf-r46-hd-1080p-camcorder-3-28mp-32x-optical-zoom-8gb-wi-fi-3-touch-screen/p435728?colour=Black. Would I be better advised to go for this Sony camcorder https://outlet.sony.co.uk/shop/Camcorders/High-Definition-Memory-Stick/HDRCX280EB.CEH.A Willing to pay up to £200-£300 + a further £50-100 for spare batteries, memory cards, camera case, tripod and memory card cases from 7dayshop.com Many thanks
  7. Good advice for future reference - the relevant people are no longer involved - and I was checking things out to ensure id covered all angles. Thanks again one and all for your very helpful advice and wishing you all the season's greetings.
  8. More child protection training is certainly on our agenda and as we reached a shared understanding that silence is golden and ever more shall be so it is unlikely they'd share their concerns with me /accept my feedback on anything - their loss. ---------- Post added 19-12-2013 at 21:17 ---------- That's been said - but their lack of humility knows no bounds.
  9. We've got all these safeguards in place thanks; just the technicalities, viability and feasibility of right clicking images which prompted my query here. Re the so-called advisor, I think they're unlikely to listen to sound advice when it's dished up to them with champagne.
  10. to start with the entire MM extracted folder extracted itself to downloads so where would be a better place to save it, ie the MM file before extracting it and where should I extract it to? although I've created and saved this .inf file several times (written over itself) i cant see the file anywhere in this extracted mm folder right clicking on what I think is the MM.inf file opens as a notepad txt file which doesnt have a yellow blob at the beginning of the filename in the address bar. a search fails to find the .inf file I've created anywhere on this computer and somehow or another after an automatic download and installation of updates, the work I'd done to unblock files without the required digital signature information and am unable to install the driver. Is there anyway I can also prevent that from happening? Thanks ---------- Post added 22-12-2013 at 14:03 ---------- such as??? anyhow how can I go about finding where this .inf file has buried itself without rolling back to the restore which was definitely before I installed mm and, I think also 8.1. ---------- Post added 23-12-2013 at 11:09 ---------- I found this link for disabling W8.1 signature verification which is a step in resolving this issue for anyone else with similar probs. http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to-disable-driver-signature-verification-on-64-bit-windows-8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/
  11. Did all that and got nowhere - I'll have another bash and see where that gets me. Really wierd as it should work straight off with W8.1
  12. Thanks for all your advice and suggestions; I'll take a decision on this after finding out more information on the do's & dont's from an appropriately qualified contact. I didnt know what I didnt know and needed to know so I felt it would be useful to ask for guidance on the tehcnical feasibility from people who were most likely to know. The person who initiated this query made a comment on the use of photographs of children in schools and is full of their self-importance so I felt it was wiser to check the technical viability of their advice and see where that leads me. Nuff said Tx ---------- Post added 19-12-2013 at 01:25 ---------- Never thought of asking them to be honest. Having read everything you guys have posted, I guess they're likely to say the same so there's no point in wasting their time on something that is obviously a time-waster ---------- Post added 19-12-2013 at 01:27 ---------- Less bothered with copyright issues although that's an issue for professionals - sadly I'm not in that class. ---------- Post added 19-12-2013 at 01:28 ---------- Way beyond me - got my head whirling around like your avatar in my attempts to just figure that lot out but if it's unworkable I guess that's an immediate relief.
  13. Thanks - will have a bash with that and see where it gets me. So it makes no difference whether I've got 8 or 8.1 - they're both as bad as each other and I wasnt able to get this laptop with W7 which would have saved all of this time-wasting
  14. thanks - it's apparently already installed the MM inf file because that's the message which came up when I saved it. Presumably that means the driver is installed so what's stopping it from working? Tx ---------- Post added 17-12-2013 at 08:12 ---------- so I've gone to install the driver and got the error message: third party INF does not containn digital signature information and am unable to install the driver what next?
  15. It appears that I need to install the MakeyMakey device driver on my computer and this is the code I've found which is essentially gobbledegook to me. Is there anyone who could help me interpret what it means and what I'm supposed to be doing? 16. so how do i change the desktop from requiring a password in 8.1?
  17. Blog with fairly low traffic, funder's newsletters which I guess will be posted on their website and circulated to their mailing list - and ours come to that! Our website and the funders are both professionally developed,
  18. Don't worry they did try and failed cos I'd sussed 'em out and had to let em go. ---------- Post added 16-12-2013 at 23:49 ---------- Certain expectations and all make that a tad difficult but they'll be without any names and un identifiable locations which should be a help and for some reason nothing on FB
  19. Yeah I know all of that - I need to say I do this to images with children so I need to know how to do it so that I can then do it. ---------- Post added 15-12-2013 at 08:56 ---------- This sounds like what I want to do to comply with safeguarding children policies.
  20. Is it possible to prevent right clicking of images and if so how? Thanks for your time.
  21. yes that's just the job thanks - now I just need to figure out how it works with W8.1 and MakeyMakey but at least I've got a few weeks before our next event to sort it out.
  22. Technically way beyond me do you have a link? Need to set up by 9.00 am today. Ta
  23. Is this for real??? Great video by the way. ---------- Post added 10-12-2013 at 20:44 ---------- The game needs to use the control keys ie up, down, right and left arrow keys and possibly also the space bar. Thanks
  24. I'm looking for a game that works on windows 8 platform that can also be used with MakeyMakey. We had wanted to use Mario bros but are having difficulty in finding a viable downloadable version:help: needed to demo stuff for kids to learn basic electronics. Thanks in anticipation
