  1. Dont worry council officials are experienced wrigglers and they'd wangle their way out of this as well, regardless of however rifght she was in her complaints which I'm sure is the truth. I'd lay odds that even with a verified tape-recording of the meeting that they'd get off scot free
  2. that only applies if you take the anaesthetics they give you. Also get your GP to sign you off for a week - post-op recovery - it can be quite an exhausting procedure - at least it is for me every time I've had to have it. Oh & also they generally recommend eating very lightly for a couple of days afterwards because it takes a little while for things to settle down afterwards
  3. vfrom what I've seenb of these Trading Standardsd characters that probly summs it up in a nutshell.
  4. I think you'll find that Charles Clifford Dental Hospital has a FIVE month waiting list so unles it can really wait that long, I'd strongly recommend that you take up one of the other suggestions.
  5. If you can possibly manage to do so, it works even better by not eating anything for a good day or 2 before hand. And whatever you drink make sure it's on their approved list of drinks - dont for example drink milk because it wont be any help.
  6. yeah it is, but I was trying to reassure you by avoiding the disgusting side of this procedure which is really not that unpleasant. What you need to do is drink gallons of water after taking that really foul-tasting prep because it cleans out the colon good & proper. That will make it much easier for them to give you a good result and avoid havng to repeat it which is known to happen if the colon is not properly cleaned out. And speaking from the voice of considerable experience on this one - I have been having them annually for 14 years, I do assure you that taking the prep and the consequences is really the worst part of it.
  7. You are, of course, presuming that these guys have logic with which to reason. It is my regrettable experience that such a skill is not something they trained to use; I also suspect it does not fall within their remit to use the skills of logic, rationale or reason because at the end of the day they are truly jobsworths and it would be unwise of anyone to think otherwise.
  8. that;s what I thought before the first one but it really is quite remarkable
  9. well I aint in the mood for fabricating it & the partner had a real big smile all over his face - I enjoyed watching that creep who's face went even redder than his hair & that was no mean achioevement. :D And I've also heard of other's expressing concern about their heavy handed style with clients.
  10. yep thqt's the one. & she carried it on for years & years & years
  11. THat's not what I'd say about them. One of their lawyers gave me such bad advice that I was really glad when the opportunity arose to inform them in front of their Partner that I was delighted not to have taken their advice because it was all wrong. That young man didnt know where to put himself. This was followed by another incident involving sending me the original will which they didnt bother to send me despite several letters.
  12. there are no nerves in the colon so you wont feel anything other than a sense of discomfort. The preparations are worse than the procedure and it is quite interesting if you are able to see what's going on the screen they use to see the internal colon lining.
  13. when it comes to dealing with things that really count eg like selling illegal goods or harrassment from finance companies you cant see a Trading Standards Officer for dust, love or money
  14. could be a conditional sale agreement under s56 & s75 Consumer Credit Act. By law the agreement MUST state the type of agreement it is. The form design & content is laid down under the Consumer Credit Act and if these requirements are not met then it will affect your agreement's legality. It will probably be at the top of the form in its own separate box. If it is a multi-use form then there may well be other terms in that heading box - BUT they must delete all the terms which do not apply otherwise it may be an improperly executed contract. As was said in other threads, companies like Barclays pay big money to their corporate lawyers to ensure their contracts are water-tight. What they arent capable of accommodating however is the defects of the contract when their front tier staff complete the forms, sometimes with very little training.
  15. aND I'm sure you'll find a lot of really useful info because it's been done countless times.
  16. I think you may automatically get a P60 by the Inland Revenue each year if your last employer isnt responsible for them.
  17. North West London; I'd also thought of that and think they were wanting to get out of London
  18. An friend of mine has invited me for a day out - she lives near London, is elderly & although she's OK on her feet, walking can pose a bit of problem. We're looking for somewhere nice to go - a day out in the country perhaps - which is accessible by public transport, with some interesting things to see that wont pose a challenge when there. We're planning to go in June or July. Any suggestions gratefully received.
  19. |Just reminds me that some journalist who did a problem page (cant remember her name) did the same. Quite ironic really because here she was advising people how to conduct or not conduct their lives and she was doing just what she was telling them not to do
  20. mel was definitely being "tongue in cheek" there so cant see what the fuss is about
  21. I also find it helpful just to write whatever I've got to say then print out a hard copy & edit like crazy. Good rule of thumb is to find one word to replace several & well parsed sentences usually make for fewer words & better reading
  22. Was just reading throufgh the Shef Uni handbook for courses for myself & they refer to the LA (previously the LEA) so thgat may be your starting point
  23. wouldnt touch IVA or banjkruptcy with a bargepole. Debtmanagement is better but it definitely requires determination & strong self discipline. There are folks on here that recommend CAB or some of the other debt counselling services. Under no circumstances use any of the services which charge because they can & quite oftendo make a right mess of things for the debtor & they charge for the services. But without more specific info you'll probably only get generic replies sucdh as this.
  24. isnt there a load of stuff on this forum about the merits of remar
  25. that's the way I also do it and can also confirm it's correct
