Who went to night school in the fifties and sixties?
sharrovian replied to flightliner's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
I went to nightschool on Norfolk St, building long gone now. I officially finished work at 5.30 but nightschool started at 6.00 so the firm "generously" let me go at 5.15 I lived nearby so I had time to have a bite to eat before running like hell to catch the tram to town, this was in the 1950s. A memory I have, one evening going along Surrey St. I was stopped by two men and a woman who asked me if there was a decent Restaurant nearby I directed them to the Grand Hotel, I would imagine they were appearing at the Lyceum as I recognised David Tomlinson and Rona Anderson. -

Sharrow Lane School 1950s - Reunions
sharrovian replied to DavidFrance's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
Hi David France, my brother and I have visited the cafe which i believe is situated in what was the Girls Hall. I attended the centenary celebrations back in the 1980s and went into the boys hall which to me seemed much smaller than I remembered. -

I attended the school from 1942- 1952. I left Easter 1952, but remember a Michael Glossop who I believe lived around Fentonville St and Croydon St and in later years in the Westwick Rd area. I would be interested in a get-together. -

Anyone come from Lansdowne Rd area?
sharrovian replied to Minimo's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
I attended Sharrow lane school 1942-52 and always remember Denise Humphries as "Delyse" Humphries, she would hang around the Tuck Shop along with a few other boys and girls and I remember she went into the "beauty" business, she would be about 79-80 years of age now. -
I think they play the Owls in a week or two, that perhaps will be his first success.

I was sorry to see McNulty has gone on loan AGAIN, I think the lad has talent enough to get a game but the reason he can't is because Billy Sharp is a permanent fixture, I know he scores regularly but I think sometimes that is the only thing he does during the game and the remainder he seems to be non-existent.
