  1. I fancy a mackerel bap too and have just checked this tool (after going to Green Steps for a bap to no avail) and found that there are NO CHIPPIES IN SHEFFIELD SELLING THEM ON THIS MAP!!! Shocking! It's one thing lobbying (as the map has both my local chippies on there 'lobbying') but obviously another to actually DO something about it themselves. Does anyone know where I can get a mackerel bap from? Appalled and still salivating for a bap
  2. Wilkinsons if probably the biggest hardware shop in town. I use peanut butter and chocolate stuck well in. Snap!!!
  3. Yup, I cudn't remember what it was before but now you mention it...I do believe it is!
  4. It may be a beauty parlour now but lo! A young couple have opened up a 'new improved' hardware shop just next door! Yeay! Called Sharrow Vale Hardware no less. Great to have one back on the block and with an Eco touch too. V. competitive prices too compared to B&Q! Let's support 'em eh? Good luck guys
  5. The quiz in the Sheaf View's is on Tuesdays now, from 9, maybe 9.30 The Porter Brook on Eccy Road has one on Tuesdays as does the Lescar, arrgh...decisions decisions! Must admit I expected more posts on here. Any more for any more?
  6. Sorry to be -ve but 'inspiring landscapes', yes we have, but who designed the skyscraper in the city centre...boring...such a wasted opportunity I cringe every time I look at it! Should've been a true landmark building, opened up as an International Competition if necessary. Good luck with the Design thing tho'.
  7. Why stick to a layby, why not be mobile and leaflet your chosen areas?
  8. Dear Bladelass If I've misunderstood your username forgive me, but if you are a female then you could perhaps promote that as a USP, some women are uncomfortable having men in their house. Someone who submits a quote is a good start! Fair price for a fair days work, turns up, does a good job and cleans up. If you are intending to workin in 'expensive' houses then insurance may be a benefit for your customers' piece of mind. (see signature)
  9. Thanks for all the posts, they made me smile and made me 'paws' for thought. I was thinking that I could do a little story (from the pet's point of view) about how they came to be errr...'disadvantaged' and how they came to live with their wonderful current owners, which would highlight the stuff that they have to go through and the good work the rescue places do and not leave out the deaf and blind pets. I'm still plotting the thing so will get in touch with you individually get some pics and background. DaFoot - are you pulling my leg or is that spider one my cat found earlier? :-))
  10. Well we know that they're not that disabled really, losing a leg or an ear doesn't stop them from getting on. I have a one-eyed cat, Tia, she was born that way and has never known any different. She's beautiful. Anyway, I was wanting to make an alternative charity calendar - a Disabled Pets calendar and am looking for any 3-legged beauties, one-eared rabbits and the like to take photos of or collect photos of if you have any good ones. We know our pets are just as good as those fluffy cuties on normal calendars, let's show them off! It may just encourage people to adopt those 'difficult to place' pets. Looking forward to hearing from you.
  11. In the opposite direction from Hillborough try The Milestone, 84 Green Lane at Ball Street (on the way to Kelham Island), S3 8SE, it's a pub/restaurant but prob does some lovely lunches. Speaking of Kelham Island there is a cafe in there, and also The Fat Cat too! Also The Foundry, 45 Mowbray Street, S3 8EN, which is a climbing centre but has a cafe open most of the time I think where you can sit and watch the climbers, not outdoors tho, altho there are some benches outside. Good luck exploring.
  12. I'm looking for someone who'd like to graffitti/paint my gable end in Sharrow Vale. Not sure of style I want but would want to collaborate on the design. Have had a look at above sites (thanx for posting) but am sure there are more artists out there and as I am not in those circles, as such, I don't know where to start to find them. So if you're interested or know someone who might be up for it please PM me or post reply.
  13. Don't forget Sheffield Freegle http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Sheffield-Freegle/ . Similar to above.
  14. Never been to Baan Thai like, but took myself into Thai Punna on the spur of the moment once, yes...dined alone...the food was fantastic (having come back from Thailand only a few months before) and the staff were great. Would defo recommend it.
  15. I realise this is some time on from the election now but I'm trying to find out if there are any grounds to re do the Sheffield Central vote esp as there were only 165 votes in it. In response to the above I've found this and think that it would be really good if we couldl find 'Mike' or even his daughter or others who may have been denied their vote and at what polling station... • 81. At 10:38pm on 06 May 2010, Mike wrote: My daughter tried to vote in Sheffield Central, but the turnout was so great, that after standing for hours in the rain until 10pm a large number of voters were turned away. This is outrageous and is hardly likely to encourage anyone to vote in the future! The resources were swamped by the number who wanted to vote, but surely someone could have predicted this? Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/haveyoursay/2010/05/have_the_parties_done_enough.html So, I'm still interested in those that couldn't vote (in Sheffield Central), not in long queue stories at this stage.
  16. Give me a call and I'll see what we can do for you: 0114 2505225 - Enterprise General Insurance.
  17. Hi can anyone help? My HP printer/scanner/copier has been in storage for some time, with cartridges in place. Obviously it's not printing very well on first go (no ink in colour cartridge for one and haven't been to Cartridge World yet). Is there a way to clean the heads or whatever on a HP printer? With alcohol/CD cleaner? If not and new cartridges don't work, is it worth taking it to someone to have a look at? It was only a £60-jobby but was hardly used before storage, seems a shame to chuck it.
  18. Can you ask Tescos to put a pet food donation bin somewhere, as I bought dog food instead of cat food for my kitty! She didn't like it but when I took the food back on my shopping trip I was shocked to find they didn't have a donations bin! I complained/suggested that they do, can you lend support for that pls?
  19. This really irritates me. What's the point in having them chipped?! Mine was cat-napped by the Ex. I wish Vets would also do their bit and check every new cat that is brought into their surgeries whether as a stray or with its current 'caring owner', this might reunite a few us.
  20. Found a funky lil function room upstairs at Mish Mash on Eccy Rd, free. Has its own bar, dancefloor (I think) and seated area but only holds enough for about 30-40 people No doubt it's free but you have to have their catering, which after trying it out last week was excellent. Let's hope they can do a reasonabley priced party menu. Still looking for somewhere for around 80 to 100 people tho. Like the sound of those rehersal rooms for gatherings, sister would love that!
  21. There is Tradesman's Insurance for these type of self employed people, depending on what you want to do it could be a little as £120pa. PM me if you want to know more.
  22. If you have insurance for your business anyway inc. Public Liability, you may be able to just use that, but make sure with your insurance company/policy that it includes conducting your business off your premises, if it doesn't then you may be able to add that on for a small premium.
  23. This link doesn't seem to work which is a shame cos I really thought there might be some options listed on it. Does anyone now how to find this thread?
