  1. Location lost/found: S12 Further details Two dogs in Intake area came crashing through my side gate and set up camp in our back garden this morning. They look like they've been out all night as they were soaking wet. One is a smallish, ginger dog, and the other looks like a young puppy and I think it's a chocolate lab/poodle cross. One with collar and one without, although no tags Both are currently dried off and fast asleep in our house!. We've called the dog warden who should be picking them up sometime today Want to get in touch? To contact this user, click on their user name to access the Email or Private Message forms.
  2. I probably don't understand the financial intricacies, but can any one explain why if the council had reserves of £60 million last year and has £167 million this year, why they can't use some of this to keep services ticking over until the financial situation improves?
  3. Cardinal O'Brien states "The natural law teaching of what marriage is is quite simple. It is natural for a man and woman to be together for the procreation and education of children" By that token, any woman who gets wed after the menopause, any bloke who gets married after the snip, any couple who can't have children or any marriage where one partner dies before they have children, has an invalid marriage according to the church. Or am I missing something?
  4. There were signs in the windows for a good few weeks, saying that they were closing and the alternative would be to go the one off West Street. Apparently they haven't made any sort of profit in any of the years they were at Hallam. Not surprising really when you could buy any text book from Amazon for pretty much half the price
  5. We're in S12 and having exactly the same problems and so are rellies up the road.
  6. Most people probably put the leaflets in the bin, thus adding to the councils waste costs lol
  7. we're looking to sell our house in the near future, but prices seem to be all over the place. 3 pretty much identical houses on the same road are going for £109,000, £125,000 and £135,000. There's also a detached house on for £178,000. I'm not sure how there can be such a difference between the prices
  8. Just want to say a big thank you to everyone who took time to message me about this. Got a number of quotes on the way, and hopefully we'll get the work started soon Thanks again guys Jamie
  9. Thanks for all the replies and PMs guys. I'll start making some calls in the next couple of days ta Jamie
  10. Hi Everyone We're looking to have a bit (a lot!) of work done in the next couple of months to our house and we were wondering if anyone is free is the next couple of weeks to come out and give us a quote for the following Plastering Board and skim walls and ceilings in: 3 Bedrooms Kitchen Bathroom Stairs and Landing (we'll get everything knocked back to the brickwork) Bathroom Remove old suite Fit new suite, shower, towel rail and extractor fan Kitchen Move gas supply and three electrical sockets Fit new cooker socket and extractor fan socket Install small radiator in hall Hopefully we can get a firm that will do the lot, just to save on planning and phone calls, but individual trades shouldn't be a problem Thanks guys Jamie
  11. Thanks for all the messages guys, got a couple of people coming round to give us quotes. thanks again Jamie
  12. Hi guys This is probably the wrong time of year to be asking, but is anyone free to give me a quote for a new combi boiler, radiator valves, a single rad, and removing the old boiler and tanks? I'm in Intake Thanks for your help Jamie
  13. We've got an apple tree and the bottom half of the branches look like they've got some sort of disease. Can anyone recommend a tree surgeon, to cut it down? It's probably about 18 feet tall and around 12 feet at its widest. Ta Jamie
  14. Serveral people I know have heard from the bus station and bus drivers, that if it carries on snowing at this rate, they may pull the busses from 12 noon. Early home time for me then!
  15. Think yourselves lucky, it's 72 hours in S12, and most of the time they don't even bring the parcel or try knocking, just put the "sorry you were out" card through the door
