  1. They can take it away, but companies normally do it on a wind down basis ( say over 12 months). So you have a gradual reduction, ultimately it's still removed.
  2. Thanks - I think it was the Golden Perch. Hillsboro - thank you I knew this was definitely a hotel as my great grandparents owned it and I know they had guests staying. I'm not 100% sure but recall it may have been a 6 day house (closed on Sunday).
  3. The Albion Hotel was on Earsham Street next to the funeral directors.
  4. I recently got a GoPro from Costco, they were in stock, but not close to £100. If you want a cheaper poorer quality one perhaps try an sj4000.
  5. I opened this thinking it might be a good place to get pheasant etc..
  6. That is sad. Condolences to his family. He taught me A level maths along with Mrs Chandler. Them coupled with Mr Smith made maths one of my favourite subjects. He was firm but fair. Until recently I used to see him and his wife (who worked in Greenhill library) walking in Graves Park at weekends.
  7. I remember "helping" my Dad replace the springs on his. The engine needed reconditioning at around 50k miles. Easy to work on with plenty of space under the bonnet. If I remember right I think it was £805 on 1st jan 1972 from Bentley Brothers on Saville Street. No radio or temp gauge of course. My Dad liked it because he could get his fishing rods diagonally across the inside of the boot, come to think of it that what was one of his main criteria
  8. There was a viva hc at the lowedges car festival last year. It was a 72 or 73 4 door in good condition. I've got happy memories of driving my dads old viva soon after I passed my test, by then it was twelve years old and a b**** to start, thankfully bump starting and Sheffield hills went hand in hand.
  9. I might have some but will need to check and measure, however it won't be for a few weeks. Send me a pm in March if you've not been successful.
  10. I'd mix it with leftover mashed potatoe and then make into fish cakes. Providing you flip them gently they stay as one.
  11. Abbey Glass at Woodseats is where I tend to go. Can't the plumber sort it for you as its his fault. Plumbers always used to "plumbers and glazers" I believe.
  12. That sounds lovely. I like tinned soft herring roes grilled on toast. I serve with a little lemon and lots of black pepper. Where did you get fresh ones, I'd love to try them?
  13. We went to the rising sun on abbey lane, they've got an area they cordon off and were flexible with catering. I think we had around 80 to 100.
  14. All bad for me. They were ok when they were gilders. They've got too big and lost sight of the customer. My recent experiences suggest they couldn't organise a party in a brewery.
  15. I'm not surprised by labour. I tried to contact my mp over this, they never returned my call, instead I got a letter without them even asking me my question. The trustees shouldn't have done this, it's wrong, using the excuse of it's too expensive to repair is pathetic. They should concentrate on tighter management and governance of their resources, rather than selling off part of the park.
  16. They normally put in low estimates. At least it wasn't as wide of the mark as Highlightly Farm.
  17. That is indeed interesting, especially the part which says it was these councillors (or trustees) who voted against the decision to withdraw their overall decision to sell the cottage: Councillors Terry Fox, Steve Jones, George Lindars-Hammond, Pat Midgley, Tim Rippon and Steve Wilson
  18. The problem is there are no guarantees that promises the council make will be kept. Has anyone seen the survey of 400 people mentioned by the council? I'd like to see the questions asked. I suspect once it goes to auction the price will be pushed right up, a lot of guide prices seem low nowadays to pull in bidders.
  19. No it is definitely unusual that it's not available yet. For all the previous auctions I've attended the packs are normally available by now. And when you say registered bidders you mean this and all previous auctions. So given the numbers who normally attend this I'd expect will run into thousands of registered bidders.
  20. Strange that the legal pack is not uploaded yet. Maybe the auctioneers are having second thoughts given the publicity and number of signatures on the petition....
  21. I agree common sense is needed. I've got bad knees which sometimes flare up (spontaneous osteo neucrosis of the knee) which means I need to use crutches. I don't recall parking in a disabled bay but have in the parent and child bays simply to be able to open my car door wide enough for crutches. I've not applied for a disabled badge as Im hoping to prolong it as much as possible.
  22. Thanks all - that's reassuring advice and helpful tips. I'll look to get it quoted for and then booked in in the new year.
  23. I probably need a new landing ceiling after Christmas. The old one is from the 1920's and lath and plaster. My question is does sealing up all the doors with tape etc.. really stop the dust from getting everywhere? The hall, stairs and landing need decorating but not the whole house. Thanks
  24. A bike shop would also be a good candidate for one of the units IMO.
