I don't think its fair to pull the union to bits as this was going to happen what ever. As a Member of Unison I think they do an OK job. I also take advantage of all the discounts they have negotiated for us Insurance etc etc.

SCC is still a great employer and with all other perks included - pension, holidays etc etc We are all lucky to be in jobs in these hard times after all !

Thanks for all your well thought out views ! I believe the vast vast majority of employees have already signed. So holding out you are in a tiny minority.

I am unaffected by the change but know of lots of staff who are well overpaid compared to similar jobs in the private sector. We are lucky to all have jobs in these hard times get the letters signed and sent back you know its the right thing to do !!

Send them back SIGNED you know its the correct thing to do. We are all lucky to have such good jobs in these hard times.

The Council is committed to communicating with the whole workforce at the same time about the equal pay review outcomes. Employees in schools will not have access to worksite advice and support due to the start of school holidays on 17th July 2009. As an outcome of both these issues there will be a delay in sending letters out until September. To clarify timescales, when employees have received their offer letter in September there is a period for them to consider the offer and sign up to new contracts.
